First Mike Awesome, Now ALbert, looks like they are pairing bull up with big boys, and showcasing him as a big wrestler, ad opposed to a brawler.

Wow, he just did a springboard top rope clothesline.... Nice

I caught Velocity tonight and I'll admit that I didn't recognize Bull when he first came out. He looks in much better shape now than back in his RTC days. I think he had the faux-preacher thing DOWN when he was part of the RTC and he should be the one paired with Brother D-von right now. They both work better in tag environments anyway. (See, people? THIS is why the tag champions should be allowed on both shows)

But of course, since Bull's opponent was Albert, I couldn't be bothered to watch, so I can't comment on his wrestling ability just yet. Better luck next week, Bull.

-Booker T, Hollywood's next big superstar!

And that's the bottom line, because it's false! It's DAMN false!

I just don't care for Bull Buchanan. Even though he did beef up and get ugly new tights, there's just no appeal there. He looked decent in his first Velocity match, and I made an effort to watch the second, but as soon as I saw his opponent was Albert, I realized that the battle between myself and a bag of chips in the kitchen was more enticing than the battle on my TV.

Buchanan has no intensity, no great speed or power, and no charisma. The only time I was glad that he was around was before this one RTC match, where two suit-and-tie-clad fans in the arena stood up and started ranting maniacally to themselves when the RTC came out, and the TV camera caught it. That was so weird, I enjoyed it. But everything else about him did not entertain me. Any fans of his, please tell me what I am missing, and I'll look harder.

I don't think it's fair to judge Buchanan yet. Yes, he has been around for a number of stints already, but let's look at what the man has been given to work with. The Truth Commission? Paired with the Bossman? Right To Censor? The only one of those angles that caught my attention for more time than it takes to groan out loud was RTC, and even the biggest RTC fan has to admit that their routine got real old real fast. I haven't caught Bull on Velocity yet since I rarely catch Velocity at all, but he always struck me as a guy who had potential. He's fairly agile and moves around quite well for a guy his size. Perhaps his quickness just stood out because so far, in his various personas, he's been teamed with Kurrgan, Bossman, and Kama, or maybe there really is something there. Either way, I don't think it's fair to judge a guy until he gets at least a passable role and some kind of chance to actually make a positive impact.

You are correct, sir. Should he really be pushed in the place of someone more experienced and talented, like, say, Bob Holly?

Well...if he wants Holly's "push" he can freakin' have it. Maybe Holly would be better off with someone elses.

As air-tight as that logic is, I try not to give up on wrestlers until they've had the chance to work within at least one decent storyline.

I disagree with the people who say give him a chance, because you have to take whatever crap the WWF gives you and MAKE IT good (like Holly and the superheavyweight gimmick, on paper it sounds dumb, but man did it ever rule). Bull's been given two or three chances to do something, and basically, he sucked at each and every one.

Granted, I hate his in-ring work. He has what, two or three spots where he jumps really high, jumps off of something or pulls his own bodyweight and he USUALLY screws those up. I got no use for Bull.

No mic skills, no charisma and mediocre wrestling equals I don't care.

He just returned from the developmental leagues. Give him a chance! He's on Velocity, meaning that it's not a storyline/interview segment show -- it's a recap show peppered with advertisements for Confidential, 1-800-CAL-LATT (thanks, CRZ) ads, and some decent matches that don't really do too much for the storylines.

Let's await his arrival onto Smackdown. Let him go wild there and give him the stick. Then I'll critique him.

The guy is not exactly a rookie. Hell, the fact that he's been up and down twice before should tell you how good he is. He's been with the WWE for at least 4 years, probably more, now and he's still nothing more than the typical "big man who moves well" I refuse to believe he went down to OVW and suddenly got good. I've seen this guys act before and it's not good, the odds of it changing aren't good.

I don't have any kind of evidence to back this up and I've never stepped into the ring, but I'd be willing to say if you're not able to work a good match by your 4th year as a pro, you're not going to be able to. I mean wrestling's not THAT hard (don't take that as it's own statement, read on). It's not like football where you have a bevy of plays to grasp and a entire opposing team to read. Something that could take few years to fully grasp. In wrestling, you need to be able to physically do it and then be able to mentally put a match together. If you can't do that after 4 years it's not suddenly going to hit you.

And 4 years with Bull is a VERY conservative estimate. I know he's been with WWE since at least 98, but you gotta figure he's been a professional wrestler for at least 6-7 years if not more.

The thing is this: Sometimes it DOES "just hit you". (whatever "it" is, for you) Maybe Bull finally clicked on what he was lacking while in OVW. Sometimes even with a great deal of effort, natural talent, and focus, things still don't click, but then one day.........Boom! what you're trying to do works out. I know I've had that happen. And once things do work out, then, you've got it. You've gained the thing you're missing.

All I'm saying is - I'm in the camp for giving Buchanan the benefit of the doubt. He's not back for no reason, he's still pretty young, and he sure does LOOK a lot better.

Before the Atlanta RAW Bull had a dark match aganist Waterman where he wore the coolest pants ever. They were like a green, shiny, snakeskin pants with a leopardish shiny pattern. Of course, this gave our area of the arena plenty of chances to rag on his awesome pants -- I'll give him a chance just because of the pants, and his pretty cool top rope stuff for a Hoss.

I've never seen any OVW, but I hear his gimmick there was really damned cool and he was exciting and charismatic and everything. I believe it was a Waylon Mercyish DeNiro-in-Cape-Fear takeoff. Can anybody confirm or deny?

I was just rather impressed by his weird spiderlike crawling that he did in his match against Albert. Not something you see very often around here.

If Bull can pull off the Waylon Mercy-esque gimmick, I'll give him every benefit of the doubt there is. I love that character.

That would be good, though i think if bull can hit a couple power moves, and something thaht only cruisers usually do (Shooting Star Press, Moonsault, etc) he could be huge over.
