So if Brock loses cleanly to The Rock at SS, then what do you do with him? Sure he's lost matches, but he's kind of got an unpinable gimmick going on right now. Would some of the luster be gone if he was to lose, or will he still be able to plow through everyone as convicingly.

Hypothetically, they could make him into a huge badass who wins even more convincingly, but what makes you think Rock will win at SS?

If the Rock were to beat him, he'd be jobbing in what I'm sure would be a long incredibly hard-fought match to the biggest face on the roster. I don't think it would hurt him that much. Andre still seemed unbeatable after Wrestlemania III.

i personally think that since everyone and their mother knows that the rock is heading back to hollywood after summerslam, that they'll just give brock the built to keep his run and build strong... especially with a win over the freakin' ROCK.

but the reason why there is still the possibility of rock winning is BECAUSE everybody knows that he's going back to hollywood. no one gives him a shot at keeping the belt, so they SWERVE~! us all and keep it on him, only to lose the next night or the next week to brock or someone else. or maybe they've come to their senses and realized that brock isn't a wrestler that can carry the promotion yet?

There's a time for SHOCKING SWERVES and this is NOT it! The fans haven't been buying Brock as a monster heel and the time has come to sacrifice big names to get him over by force. Hulk Hogan was the first casualty and so far it's working pretty well. Brock's actually DRAWING HEAT now! The next step is, he NEEDS to go over at Summerslam! The only possible alternative is to have Rock barely squeak a victory out and, after the match, have Brock beat his ass to Hollywood and play an injury angle. But that ending helps nobody and would only set up a title tournament.

Then again, a title tournament would be the ultimate last resort in case WWE really wants to pull the plug on Brock's push. You could have him chase the belt at Unforgiven along with Benoit, Edge, Undertaker, Kane, Angle, Jericho, and the rest of the card.

"That's right! You suckas better FIND somewhere to run! 'cause it's me - Booker T - not only am I the Scorpion King, but I'm the five-time WCW Champion - and I got a sword, too! Now can U dig THAT - SUCKAAAAAS"
-Booker T, Hollywood's next big superstar!

And that's the bottom line, because it's false! It's DAMN false!

I was thinking about this today (a good thing, since I haven't cared about a title match in months); Rock should go over, freaking out Brock and Heyman and causing Brock to go on a REAL streak of terror. WWE could point out how leading up to Summerslam a lot of his matches saw his opponents get decent offence or that Brock came close to losing with Heyman serving as a disadvantage the deciding factor, and have Brock completely roll through most of the bottom-dwellers with NO offence for anyone else, before you put him clean over someone big. Then you bust out the Shooting Star. In other words, "He didn't take things seriously before, and it cost him. Now he finally cares. Watch your ass." It's not too late to build him up big, but he isn't ready yet.

If Brock loses, then the WWE blows all the build up and momentum they've been trying to give brock these last few months. Rock's going off to film like 2 movies. If Brock doesn't beat Rocky, then I think it will end in a no contest but that would piss everyone off. WWE has been pushing Brock big time whether we like it or not, pushing him as the next big thing. And if he loses, then I think its going to be hard for Brock to get whatever heat he has back. Or if he loses he'll go on a the lame "interfere with everyone's matches on the show" thing like Kane. Remember when Kane when he was a heel and face would just come out randomly during matches and just chokeslam people. Stupid crap.

Add me to the list of people who do NOT want Brock winning the title.

(1) The Unified World Title has changed hands at Wrestlemania, Backlash, Judgement Day and Vengeance. That's 4 times in 5 months. Title change at Summerslam makes it 5 times in 6. That's unacceptable for a top title.

The title changed hands 5 times ALL of last year. (Angle-> Rock-> Austin-> Angle-> Austin-> Jericho)

(2) Lesnar is just not over enough. I say this subjectively - but in my eyes from what I've seen - the fans do not respond to him enough to make him a top tier player. They're only booing him now because of what he did to Hogan. Before they didn't know what to make of the guy. Should they cheer? Boo? What? Rock is willing to job to anyone but I see another "Big Show World Title reign" should Lesnar win.

Bill Goldberg, who squashed everyone in WCW not named Kevin Nash, was at least established as a solid midcarder before he squashed Hogan and took the WCW World Title from him. Same thing with Kurt Angle, EuroContinental Champion. Squashing both Hardys, a Dudley and having a few good matches with RVD ain't enough in the span of 60 days isn't enough.

Brock has been around for a grand total of five months. Not even a half-year. Yet he's maineventing the 2nd biggest PPV of the year and is VERY possibly going to become the next World Champion. No, sir, I don't like it.

Brock is good and has the potential to be AWESOME. But he is WAY overpushed almost to "Maivia" proportions. Too much, too soon to be simple.

The Next Big Thing? He may be - but he's far from being the Big Thing. Which leads me to this....

(3) Rock should job the title to Kurt Angle. This is just another personal beef of mine but Angle is awesome. He can talk and he can wrestle. Even though both of his previous World Title were somewhat lame - he has the experience and the fans care about him. So much so they sing You Suck to his theme. Now THAT's being over. And the fact that putting the World Title on Angle will have him on both shows will make it even better.

That's just my take.

I dont know. I thought brock was ready after hogan... but then to show him weaker against Rikishi?... i dont know. Bad move for that i think.

If he lost it would be after a good match against a top opponent. I dont see it affecting his push. But... i dont see him losing either.

I've torn myself apart.... and tried to figure out why... but the only answer i was ever given... that really fits..... is the fact... that women are crazy.

I like Angle too, but having Rocky lose the title to him now makes no sense, especially since you just argued that there have been too many title changes recently. If Angle is going to take a two year leave of absence to train for 2004, as is apparently the plan starting in December when his child is born, he should be working with and elevating midcard guys until then. For Rock to lose the title to Angle would only allow for maybe a 2 month reign before Angle has to turn around and lose again.

I agree with you that there have been too many title changes this year, but I really believe that's only due to the failed Hogan experiment and that if they hadn't overanticipated Hogan's drawing power as champion and given him the belt HHH would still be champion today. It was one bad decision that unfortunately had a longstanding effect on the company.

Lesnar will win the title because no other alternative would make any sense. It will likely be a lengthy reign, and will lead to a number of top angles we have not seen before since this program with Rocky is Lesnar's only main event level feud to date. And you can't deny it...Lesnar has been getting a reaction the past few weeks, ever since they started pushing him right as opposed to just putting him over a bunch of guys without solidifying his character.

The best news of that, though, has to be that we are virtually guaranteed some fresh main event faces coming now. With Austin AWOL, Rock in Hollywood, and HHH, Angle, and Jericho all playing heel roles, who is left as a face challenger for Brock? It wouldn't be a bad move to have him work with and beat a freshly turned Undertaker because, like him or not, UT brings legitimacy to anyone he works with. Angle's first PPV defense was against UT and it made him a stronger champion. The same could work for Brock. After that, you've got RVD and Edge as the leading candidates to be his next challenger. Of course, I'm assuming by the past few months that no one in WWE actually sees Hogan as a main event player anymore. Anyway, that's that. I could be wrong, I know I've had my hopes up on fresh main eventers for a while now and seen nothing (except Brock), but hey, dare to dream.

I don't see how having his similar looking brother interfere in the match to distract Undertaker long enough to get the pin made Kurt Angle stronger, but okay.

Rock has to lose the title soon, so really any arguments that the title has changed hands too much recently is irrelevant. Rock is leaving, he has to drop the title. Does it really matter much whether it's Summerslam or a RAW one or two weeks later? The title will still be changing hands too often either way.

I think the Brock build-up is progressing nicely, and a win over the Rock will put him over the top. As over as the Rock is, anybody he puts over will get big heel heat.

Angle is all ready over. He doesn't really need the belt. Brock does. A Brock loss would be devasting to his push in my opinion, and would mean the months building him up would have been wasted. Brock only loses if the WWE has decided to abort project Brock all together. I haven't seen any reason that this should be aborted (each week Brock draws more heat than the week before), therefore Brock goes over.

The title is changing hands so much for only one reason:

They just decide who they want to push on both shows for the next few weeks.

That's ALL the World's Title is now. It's become just a pass to wrestle on Raw and Smackdown. Good Ol' JR can talk forever about it being "The richest prize in the industry" and call every wrestler in the ring "Benoit" until he's blue in the face. The fact is that they've ruined the title by using it as a pawn in a stupid 'sorta split'

By the way, how long until the entire roster from Raw and Smackdown has switched over? I mean, did even ONE person on Earth go "OH MY GOD!!!!! SMACKDOWN HAS **MATT HARDY**!!!!! IT'S ALL OVER FOR BISCHOFF NOW!!!!!!!"?

Well, that reaction was not what was expected in the first place, so I think it's pretty stupid to attack it for that. They're giving each show the first major shake-up since the split started, so I'm willing to give them a chance. Plus I haven't disagreed with any of the trades so far-they've all made sense and improved each show's output. So the hows and whys of the transfers really have no bearing on me.

My theory is, there is a long term plan with certain wrestlers that they want on certain shows. Instead of doing it all at once, it's over the course of a few months.

Sensible!

I don't really see how HHH's jump to Raw and the subsequent Greater Power 2.0 angle helped ANYTHING other than HHH and Shawn get TV time and bore the live crowd.

Actually, a title tournement would not be bad at all.

Austin's history, and Rocky's about to go back and shoot a movie (good for him, by the way). Triple H is another huge name, only he's a heel and needs to stay that way.

So, you insert

Taker
Angle
Benoit
Brock
Jericho
Triple H
Edge
And the dark horse, either Guerrero or Flair.

In the name of good taste, I will no longer say anything about people who run wrestling websites and cats.

Man, I'm so sick of that complaint. Let's see, in four weeks, nine people have switched- HHH, Brock, Jericho, Storm, Test, Christian, Eddy, Benoit, Stacy, and Matt H. I'm not sure how many people are on the roster- 50? I guess at this pace, we're looking at twenty weeks or so. Lighten up, man. With the smaller divided rosters, they need to make changes in order to keep the match-ups fresh. Would yo prefer to see Jericho wrestle Edge again and again and again and again and agian or to see him with new opponents on his new show.

Oh, and give the title to Brock. New blood in the main event is a very good thing.

I think Rock should defeat Brock, simply because *someone* has to break the streak, and if not Rock, who? (Yeah, I'm looking at you, HHH-haters.)
