| #41 Posted on 18.8.02 2238.28 | Okay, NOW I have to do something that I never thought I would do here...
...defend Debbie Gibson.
Debbie did one thing that set her head-and-shoulders above the vast majority of other teen-pop starlets -- she wrote her own music. Her music career fizzled not because she kept churning out the same thing album after album, but because she intentionally shifted to a more "adult ballad" sound as she got older but couldn't attract a sizeable audience for it. An A for effort, though, and that's about 300% more career-progression than a typical might-as-well-be-a-Japanese-Idol-singer teen-popper attempts.
She also had a sense of humor -- anyone who could trade barbs with Mojo Nixon and hang out with the Circle Jerks is okay in my book.
I saw her live once -- someone had to chaperone my then-12-year-old sister. The opening act was completely negligible, and I started wishing I'd brought a Game Boy, but her own set turned out to be surprisingly good. Can't say that I'm a big fan of bubblegum pop, but her stage presence was undeniable, and the ballads were kinda sweet.
There. Leave me in my shame.

| #44 Posted on 19.8.02 1541.52 | Yeah- but Britany's nipples are only interesting for so long- hence my point :). And I do agree, Britany has stayed popular a lot longer than I thought she would. But I really do think I see signs of that star starting to fade- Debbie Gibson was only an example. Even if it seems hypocritical- you are talking to someone who owns each of Paula Abdul's albums...

And people that can flat out wail, like many an unknown blues or soul singer, would be bigger than they are.
This has nothing to do with Britney, but why the hell is Bono included in that group?? Bono is one of the best pure singers in rock history.
Bono is a great pure singer. But the quality of his voice isn't that great. It's all in the delivery and the soul he puts into it. Watch the "Rattle and Hum" documentary (I think that's the one). Bono sits with his producer as they listen to individual tracks from an earlier recording. When they solo his vocal, with no backing tracks and no effects, even Bono makes a face and quickly says, turn the music back on.
He's probably THE greatest "vocalist" in rock over the last 20 years, but he's not a great "singer".
I don't know how else to explain what I mean and this probably still didn't make sense.

Well it was supposed to be all about hooters. It's obvious. Oh, and I might get around to posting the pictures directly. Then again, I might NOT.

| #53 Posted on 21.8.02 1438.04 | Your attempt at being a smarmy prick aside, Parts, I found it rather strange that Kim was the one posting this in CRZ's forum. Someone else doing it? Not newsworthy. Her doing it? I wonder what the motivation is. If it were my board, and I was still involved with one of my ex-girlfriends, I highly doubt any of them would do any such thing, so it seemed a little out of the ordinary to me. The question was nowhere near as much "Do these belong here or in Random or somewhere else" as it was "What's going on and/or what's been said between these two to make Brit's Tits part of 'his world'?" To this point, it's still a question largely unanswered, but thanks for noticing something that wasn't there.
