From Dave's site about Monday's Raw:

Bret Hart's web site said that Bret has never received an apology from Michaels. He said for a man who has found God to outright lie to millions of people is disappointing. Michaels on Off the Record said he was sorry that it happened and "had to happen," but on Confidential also stated we wasn't sorry and in the same situation, would do it again. It stated, "Bret never asked Shawn for an apology anyway. And Bret or brethart.com did not bring any of this up and we wish they hadn't either. In fact, we're sorry they can't seem to get over it."

Seems the HBK/Hart fued continues to this day. Didn't Bret say last year he talked to Vince and buried the hatchet with him?

So what exactly are the odds that Bret will be back in the WWE? I'm only assuming it will be a matter of time before we see him, however, I hope it's a one night only special attraction "goodbye" and end it at that. I'm sure Vince has other ideas, maybe that's why we haven't seen him yet? Any thoughts ...

I remember that Confidential. I don't think Michaels apologized for Survivor Series.

He didn't, he acted like it was just part of the business and said he would do it again.

With that said, I would be shocked if Bret NEVER appeared on WWE TV again. I would think it would be a one night deal with Bret as was talked about for WM18.

It was bound to happen sooner or later

Last I heard, he said returning to WWE would be like saying what they (Vince) did to him was ok, and he couldnt do that.

Sounds like the kind of thing that would be pretty hard to go back on.

I hope Bret doesn't. He has come out strongly against this company, and even with the "hatchet buried" it doesn't reflect well on him to go back on his word. Let Bret be the one guy who walked away and stayed away. I mean, Bret has to look at the RAW segment as a betrayal. If they truly buried the hatchet, why would Vince bring this up again? Especially in a way that portrays Montreal fans as idiots. Why is Vince sending Shawn out there to tell Montreal to "get over it". Vince is the one who hasn't stopped booking "Montreal screwjobs" since Survivor Series 1997. Every single show in Montreal has some kind of screwjob, the WWE has not dropped this for five seconds. Vince is the one who needs to get over it, and he can start by booking a whole event in Montreal without referring to the screwjob, without sending Earl Hebner or Shawn Michaels or himself out there, and to just LET IT DROP.

Hogan's My Dad, between this post and your one about how over-rated Randy Orton is... I think... I think I'm in love... I know this is sudden, but I had to let you know.

On Off The Record where the "apology" was supposedly made, Shawn said, "I'm sorry it had to happen." He later added that if faced with the same situation today as a Born Again Christian, he'd do it again because you submit to authority.

I don't know but "I'm sorry it had to happen," doesn't really qualify as "I'm sorry I lied to your face and screwed you over."

Personally I feel like Bret is just being a whinner.

Business is business, and after all these years if he can't let go, then dude has some problems!

But it would be cool to see him back on more time.....

So what does that make Vince McMahon? He's the one who can't let it go, he keeps rehashing it and bringing it up. He's the one who insisted on a meeting with Bret after Owen's funeral, only to make false promises to Bret and not live up to his word. Bret *HAS* let it go, that's why he shook Vince's hand in Florida in December and tried to bury the hatchet.

I personally wish everyone would let it go from Vince down to the smart fans. Is there really any benefit of rehashing the incident time and time again? If so, it goes my what little intelligence I have.

It makes him the owner. He can do any damn thing he wants to try and get some rise for his business.

Bret Hart just drives me nuts. The guy doesn't realize he was an actor on a TV show.

Was Shawn out shooting on Montreal or Bret on Monday? No. He was cutting a pre-written promo. He was not making any personal statement or trying to send any message to Bret.

Michaels owes Bret Hart nothing. Bret Hart owes Vince McMahon an apology for ever putting him in the position to have to do what he did.

Sad.

Vince put Vince in that situation by signing Bret to a 20 year deal and then trying to back out of it BEFORE getting Bret to drop the belt.

The mistake Bret Hart made was being loyal in 1996 when he could have jumped to WCW for millions but stayed true to Vince.

Professional wrestling isn't just some TV show with actors playing a part. Find one major player in the industry who belives he's just an actor playing a part, you won't. Find one major sports star who believes he's just playing a game. It's not some role when you give your body and your life to something.

Bret Hart made the mistake of thinking that 13+ hard, painful, loyal years to a company allowed him to drop the belt to ANYONE in ANYPLACE except an ungrateful Shawn Michaels in Montreal. He's not the one who wanted to leave and I don't see why it's unreasonable to think that he would be upset after being treated like everything he gave the company meant nothing.

It's not Bret Hart's belt. It belongs to Vince McMahon. What are you not getting here? If he wanted to "screw" his employees every day, guess what? It's his damn company, they are under contract to HIM. Find a "major player" who believes he is doing more than just "playing a part" and you find some psycho like Roddy Piper.

If Bret isn't doign just as much to keep this going how do you explain the poll on his site:

Would you like to see Bret on WWE TV?
Yes: 95.4 % (144001 votes)
No: 4.6 % (6877 votes)

My point is if Bret wasn't atleast thinking about it, this poll would not even be up. He could always use this as an excuse, "My fans demanded my WWE return." As much as I like Bret, he can be whiney at times. I think part of him wants to go back to WWE. If you look a Wrestling With Shadows, you see how much Vince meant to him and how much he loved WWE. But at the same time, he wants to always look like the innocent victim, which is not always the case.

Well, your sample size there consists of almost 100% Hart fans.

I've always been kind of torn about the Montreal situation since Bret Hart was my favourite wrestler throughout my childhood years, and yet I also can see how Vince was stuck in a tough spot.

In retrospect, if Vince had it in his mind that Bret was going to leave, he should've had Undertaker win the Hell in the Cell match, and thus gotten the title shot against Hart at Survivor Series. Hell, it even could've been a three-way between Hart, UT and Michaels. Bret wouldn't have objected at losing to the respected Undertaker in Montreal, and then Shawn could've won the belt later to set up his title match with Austin at WrestleMania.

Over 1650 posts and still never a Wiener of the Day! But I'm not bitter!

Q: If you could have one superpower -- the strength of 100 men, invisibility, or the ability to fly -- which would you choose and why?

Michael Vick: Oh man, invisibility. If I was in a bad situation or something or I said something or you know, caught with two girls I could just disappear. I could be gone just like that -- no trouble.

Or you find Hulk Hogan or Steve Austin or Shawn Michaels or Ric Flair or Dusty Rhodes or almost anyone outside of The Rock. There's a reason people excel beyond others in athletics, because they put their entire self into their chosen field. Pro-wrestling isn't just a part or some guest spot or some job to these people, it's their life. That can cause problems, warped views of reality, but to be at that level, that's what has to happen.

Technically, Vince can do whatever the hell he wants, there's no doubting that. He can be as immoral as he wants to be. That's Bret's mistake, trusting Vince, the man he had a very close, almost father-like, relationship with for over ten years, not to screw him.
