"So, on Thursday, I had an enjoyable phone conversation with Kurt Angle.

We had a lot of good things to say about each other's wrestling styles.

If I was going to have one more great match, it would likely be with Angle but he was disappointed to hear me say it's impossible for me to ever wrestle again."

That's too bad. I think Bret in his prime against Angle would be one of the best matches ever. I do believe Bret has said before that he would never be able to return to the ring after his stroke/motorcycle accident.

I don know......maybe (and just maybe) could it be some kind of evation manouver in Bret's article to hide something special for Wrestlemania XX, im not saying that it have to be a match, but if Bret its taking time to have his word out of the rumors its because he must know something...and also Kurt...

As i said before...A WM XX without even a tribute to Bret Hart will be an incomplete celebration.

"...Pro wrestling can't go back to being seen as real but at least it should do its part to try..."
Bret Hart

Can it be??

Cheers

Percentage of people this will stop from suggesting a Bret vs. Angle/Michaels/Vince match at Wrestlemania: a mere ... fifteen.

Maybe we'll see him as a surprise guest referee or something. I'd just like to see the man on WWE TV one more time. He might not be able to wrestle, but he could slap the sharpshooter on someone. Imagine the pop that would get.

Bret Hart its a must have at Wrestlemania XX

I think that definitly...Hitman will be back to the WWE on March 2004, to face his fans for the last time.

Not that (a) I think this is what will happen, or (b) that it would ever go down this way, but this is the Bret Hart return scenario I'd like to see best.

Bret is billed as a special attraction for WMXX without saying any more or less.

The big event comes, his music plays and Bret enters the ring to a standing ovation that rivals Hogan's the night after WMX8. He says a few words before Shawn Michaels's music interrupts him. A long staredown before HBK gets on the mic, apologizes for Montreal and says how he's now turned to religion and would like to ask for Bret's forgiveness (like I said, this WON'T happen). After a bit of hesitation, Hart extends his hand in forgiveness and the two embrace.

Michaels leaves and after Bret gets a few more words out when Vince McMahon's music plays. McMahon says he, too, is a changed man, and would like Bret to forgive him. Bret sees through the charade, punches McMahon out and locks him in the sharpshooter. Another standing `o', and that's that.

I'm sorry, but Bret Hart and Phone it In really don't go well together. Hell, the reason I, as well as probably everybody else, is that he NEVER phoned it in.

Kane gets flustered that he didn't get to do something silly this week. Ho hum.

I'm like the biggest Bret fan ever but he did have a rep of phoning it in on house shows but him phoning it in was still a good match, just predictable. I don't blame him though, the schedule he did while champion was insanely difficult.

maybe Phone It ma be a strong word but he can have a light match like the one Shawn Michaels had in TWA a few ears ago. you know, just a proper way to say goodbye to his fans.

I understand you acknowledged that this is unrealistic, but as a wrestling fan and a Bret Hart fan, I wouldn't even want to see it become reality.

If Bret were to come back to the WWE for one last appearance, I wouldn't want it to have anything to do with Montreal. That scenario plays an emphasis on Shawn Micheals and Vince McMahon, and IMO Bret ideally shouldn't even acknowledge their existence for this one night. It should be an appearance about the fans and for the fans. Coming out, saying thanks, maybe have the locker room come out to celebrate. It would be a nice moment.

Hell, I think this should be THE main event. Have Angle win the belt in a dramatic match and then Bret come out to congratulate Angle. Then Angle goes to the floor while Bret stays in the ring to give his speech. Locker room clears to the ring. They celebrate. End of Wrestlemania XX.

Heh, and if this is unrealistic too, forgive me.

If Bret might agree to not wrestle BUT ref the match, just expect Vince to book him to screw angle. I mean, Vince booked a rehersal of Montreal on a Raw episode right in front of Stu while he was at ringside!

If Bret has to have a comeback, it shouldn't be at WrestleMania XX. It should be the next time WWE has a pay per view in Canada....the roof would come off the place.
And I agree it shouldn't involve Vince or HBK. It should be someone like Jericho or Edge acknowledging the Hitman as a great influence on their career.

Now, though Bret wouldn't be fitting at WM, I think a nice tradition for WM to start would be a 'lifetime achievement award,' sort of like they do at the Oscars every year.

"When this bogus term alternative rock was being thrown at every '70s retro rehash folk group, we were challenging people to new sonic ideas. If some little snotty anarchist with an Apple Mac and an attitude thinks he invented dance music and the big rock group is coming into his territory, [that's] ridiculous." - Bono, 1997

WM 20.

Vince: "I present the Hitman Bret Hart with a lifetime achievement for entertaining the fans while leading the young guys like a true professional should do. Here's to the Hitman!"
Bret: "Ok... now can I have my damn footage?"
Vince: "forget about that!"

There's only one thing Bret really wants...
