With all the recent talk of Benoit possibly being traded to RAW to feud with and possibly win the title from HHH instead of Lesnar on SmackDown, I began to wonder how WWE will handle the World Title lineage once McMahon brings RAW and SmackDown! back together.
Currently, we have the proper World Title being held by Lesnar on SmackDown! and the true tag team titles being held by Flair and Batista on RAW but where does that leave HHH and the Bashams in the history books? Will they have phantom title reigns? Will they be considered former world champions, or in the HHH's case, have less title reigns on his resume?
So with that, I fear that if Benoit is traded to RAW and wins, he will somehow get robbed of being a World Champion for the second time in half a decade.
I think that if the brands were to join back up together, they would just reunify the titles, like they did during Invasion. (booking notwithstanding)
As for recording title reigns and lineages, just like on that wrestling titles history site, one can say they held a belt that happens to have been unified into another. Booker T still was able to boast being the 5 Time (repeat 4 more times) WCW Champion, through that time there was only one top-tier belt.
The title lineages will just diverge and combine at different points accordingly.
Originally posted by RoadWarrior24Just wishful thinking, but that would help out a lot to combine them... both shows are kinda stale
So having a pair of shows that are constantly dominated by the same people all the time would be less stale than having two different shows with two different casts?
About the Brand Extension it's like going to a Beatles Concert back in the day and only having Paul and John there. This is how it is for the extension. I dont go to shows anymore bc if I am paying my money I want to see all the best talent. Not the diluted product put forth today. People were elevated before were they not? If I want to go to a show I want to see Triple H, Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, Austin etc. ITs like your paying the same price for half the talent.
I LOVE WRESTLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I don't think that the Brand Extension would allow this. I at least like having tag champs on boths shows, even if there are no great teams at the moment.
Ralph: [whispering] Lisa, what's the answer to number seven? Lisa: [whispering] Sorry, Ralph. That would defeat the purpose of testing as a means of student evaluation. Ralph: [pauses] My cat's name is Mittens.

Well, Brock Lesnar likely wouldn't be a main eventer were it not for the Brand Extension. Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit likely wouldn't even be close, and Jericho would probably be jobbing to all of the "Established Main Eventers." Future stars like John Cena, Randy Orton, Charlie Haas, and Sheldon Benjamin would be wrestling on Heat and Velocity, while the Cruiserweight Division likely wouldn't exist.
Fact is, after aquiring WCW they had a HUGE roster of talent, of which only a limited number could occupy TV time. Even splitting the rosters, certain talented guys are misused and don't get the exposure that their talents warrant (ahem...Spanky?). Were it not for the injuries to top-level guys, there'd be NO new blood in the main event, especially the way RAW seems to be CliqueWalkin right now.
No, fine sir, the Brand Extension is NOT like seeing the Beatles with only Paul and John; it's like watching The Jeffersons or Archie Bunker's Place, while wondering whether Archie will win the lottery and move into the Deluxe Apt. on the Upper East side, or whether the George & Weezie will lose a bundle in the stock market, and go back to running the lone Jefferson's Cleaners back in Queens, next to Archie's Bar. There HAS been divergence, and you really can't go back...
