I don't know how it came across on TV since I may have just been in a noisy bloc, but I thought Cena-Orton was super-entertaining as a live match. It wasn't a 1970s NWA title hour-long match but why would it be? It suffered like all the Iron Man matches do as being hard to care about by its very nature for the first 40 minutes, but they did a good job of doing some new stuff in the first 20 (super FU, simultaneous FU-RKO) and then some shenanigans for the middle 20 (Legacy-Kofi and the hilarious movie villain stuff where Randy tried to blow Cena up). The last 20 was simple stuff that worked perfectly, the guy is behind in points with time running out and everyone really wants him to tie it up. They had the crowd in a big way for the big tie, and then in an even bigger way for the dramatic finish. As an overall presentation it was more successful than Benoit/HHH in the same building. Anyone who doesn't think that Cena or Orton are any good after all this time don't know what they're talking about.

The Bragging Rights match was fun at the end but it needed to be about twice as long. It was touching to see Team Smackdown all celebrate together; everyone gets to raise the Cup.

The fourway was too short. Miz/Morrison was good. DX are jerks for not wearing the Raw colors with the rest of their team.

I loved how Jericho hugged the cup with that super gleeful smile as if he was holding his new born baby.

The Ironman match came off way better than I expected and I enjoyed it alot.

I also got a kick out the look on Orton's face when the pyro went off as he slammed Cena into the pyro control board. I laughed at his "What the hell ???" expresion on his face.

Hey Shapiro, I'm just curious where you were sitting at in the arena. I was in section C8. I was kinda close to Cena/Orton when they were brawling at the top of the stairs in the crowd.

Thumbs up PPV for me. I was hoping the Miz/Morrison match would have been a little better, but really no complaints about Bragging Rights.

And apparently, a well done, and much needed, heel turn for Batista on Rey? I was very glad to see that, but figured it meant Cena was coming to SD! for a Mania match with Dave.

Circumstances lead me to a Mr. Burns-like change of heart so I went to my friend's house to watch Bragging Rights. I'm glad I did. My super low expectations were wildly exceeded. I thought the show was really well booked and well performed.

Batista's heel turn was excellent. Just really well done, built over the last couple of weeks subtly where the seeds were there but not so obvious you knew it was coming automatically. I loved Batista Funking it on wobbly legs after the Tombstone. I loved, "Rey, you think I'm playin'? I ain't playin'. I'm GONNA RIP YOUR HEAD OFF!" And then he fucked little Rey up. The emotions from both guys were spot on.

The Fatal Four Way was really good before the Batista turn. I'd say it was my favorite match of the night since I like all of those guys. The timing of breaking up the pins was spot on. Everyone looked good and Undertaker sold for everyone, even taking the 619. Batista and Taker were so blown up by the end, audibly coughing and gasping for breath, it was kind of hilarious. Still, a well done Fatal Four way of non-stop action. Could have been longer but they cut a hell of a pace and everything they did was major.

Miz and Morrison didn't do much for me. Though I disagree with Miz going over, it was the unexpected result so that was good. Though both guys worked hard, I thought the match was non-stop non-psychology. They were tossing moves back and forth at each other like the match was from the Smackdown vs. RAW 2010 video game. Maybe that's what they were going for.

The Divas match was okay. Surprised Melina took the pin, but Smackdown is where the intrigue is regarding the Women's Title. They're building Beth and Mickie going after McCool nicely. Good to have the Divas put in a position to deliver for their brand and do something important in the scope of the PPV.

It was a great touch to have cutaways to both locker rooms with the Smackdown and RAW teams watching the Bragging Rights matches together. Triple H had his knee pads pulled down and man, did his knees look discolored and deformed.

The 7 vs. 7 tag indeed could have gone longer but it was also well done and super entertaining. I liked Shawn Michaels wearing both a DX shirt and a RAW shirt, and wearing both incorrectly. I thought the Hart Dynasty shined quite a bit in what they were tagged in to do, including hitting the Hart Attack on HBK. The turn by Show on Kofi and the knockout punch on Triple H was great. Jericho making out with the trophy was fantastic. Am I wrong that Smackdown usually wins these head to head brand confrontations when they've happened in the past? They've done RAW vs. Smackdown matches at Survivor Series and Smackdown usually wins in the end. I'm glad they stuck to that and defied the expectation that DX would roll over anyone in their way. DX vs. JeriShow has nicely been re-established too.

I have to admit, the Iron Man was really good. It was the Cena vs. Orton match I enjoyed the most and sort of makes me wish it was the only one I'd seen and I'd missed the previous 5,000 matches they've had. I was shocked I not only stayed awake during it but they had my attention for the full hour. They busted their asses and did some violent stuff, so I was more than satisfied. They won me over in the first couple of minutes with the psychology of Orton tapping instantly once put in the STF to lose the fall but preserve his physical health. Very smart. Cena getting busted open hardway made me happy because a match like this demanded blood so that need was met. Orton went through every possible evil facial expression he could muster in the hour. He deserves a special Slammy for that one. Orton is also hilarious in how obvious it is on his face every time an idea pops in his head. They should have just added a lightbulb appearing over his head each time. I also enjoyed the forays into Tom and Jerry cartoon violence in the middle part when Orton realizes he could explode Cena with the pyro. I share his disappointment that he wasn't able to.

Two quibbles about the Iron Man:

1) The announcing was really bad. Grisham and Cole were shown to have absolutely no ability to call a match like this for an hour and keep it entertaining. Grisham especially was befuddled, in over his head, and would point out things that happened minutes prior for lack of anything to say. Not having JR there was a shame because he could have added so much. Lawler was even off his game, mostly likely caught up in the match itself. There were a number of points of dead silence from the announcers where they simply ran out of things to say. Obviously calling the Iron Man was an extremely difficult job and it's just a shame the man most qualified was home sick because Grisham and Cole just weren't up to it, try as they did.

2) The 30 second rest period after each fall made no sense. You can't have a match with NO RULES, oh except for one rule, everyone gets a 30 second break. It took Orton a while to flip out and ignore it. Also, I felt when Orton was ahead 5-4 with 20 minutes to go, he should have just gotten in a car and left. Why not? THERE ARE NO RULES. These are the minor faults in the Anything Goes Iron Man concept idea I found.

Still, I thought the booking and execution were top notch. Orton and Cena exploited the hour well and kept it chock full of spots and activity, held together by Orton's crazy faces in the interims.

One of the best PPVs of 2009, I'd say.

Okay, something like that or in the same vein NEEDS TO HAPPEN at the next Iron Man match. Heck, I'd even settle for the bad guy taking out a pair of handcuffs while the good guy is down ... and then cuffing himself to the ropes. Can't be pinned while cuffed like that!

I didn't see the event but read a report of it. Did Orton actually tap out with four seconds left? I wonder if they'll make that part of an angle, him being mocked that he couldn't last just four more seconds to get to the end.

Yeah...it felt really like a cliched finish. PPV was so-so for me, as really, it felt like nothing of importance happened until the main event. Yeah, Batista turned heel again, until he turns back face a few months later. But the rest really felt inconsequential, perhaps due to the forced nature of the entire Bragging Rights concept.

Weird complaint, given that prior to last night Batista had turned a grand total of once in his seven-year WWE career.

Well, you can submit or be knocked out, so I don't think THAT will quite work. But, yes, the get in a car and drive away idea is *genius*. Cutting the match short by 20 minutes would suck, but having the heel do that with <5 minutes left to secure a victory would be brilliant and get him serious heel heat. Hope someone out there is reading.

The only thing better would be the heel going up 1-0 in the first minute, followed by 59 minutes of a parkour chase, as the heel tries to run away with the win.

I guess there's this notion that guys turn on a dime in WWE, but they're pretty consistent with their booking of main event names. Orton, Cena, Michaels, Edge, UT, even HHH has been face for like four years now. That's why Batista's turn - and Edge's probable face run upon his recovery - is pretty exciting.

I was on the opposite side in C...23? Near the 2008-09 Stanley Cup banner hell yeah motherfuckers. No brawl past for me or else I would've made Randy-faces at Orton.

Yeah, it was kind of like an X Division match done with WWE main event spots.

I liked Shawn Michaels wearing both a DX shirt and a RAW shirt, and wearing both incorrectly.

Oh he was? I apologize for calling him out on lack of team spirit, then. I couldn't see it from my seat.

Thanks all! Hearing Batista turned on Rey during this PPV just made him exponentially more interesting again. I always thought he was a much better monster heel ever since he held Deacon D-von's collection box.

The ppv really didn't do much for me.

I thought the Iron man match was just as expected.
Orton dominates, Cena retaliates.
There was imo no real excitement in it.

The 4way was alright though it ended too fast imo.
As pointed out, good pacing and great timing with the pinfall breakups.
Batista's heelturn was well done. He showed more character in that few bit than in all of his face promos (and I like him as a face too btw)

Obviously Show was gonna turn on team Raw. We all saw that one coming but it was still well done, with him helping then killing Kofi.

I thought it was a shame that Jericho didnt get to cut a promo but the Team Raw one was nice (especially the mentioning of Henry and May Young, and then again Kofi's non-jamaican background) and it was a good idea to have Rhodes & Truth verbally spar.

I wonder what they'll do now. They cannot do another Orton-Cena match, can they? But who else is there for Cena to face? They have to elevate someone really quickly, even if only for a few weeks...Interesting.

During the Team Smackdown vs Team RAW match, I was a little excited to see Ronnie James Dio on "Team Smackdown". But then I realized that it was only Matt Hardy.
