I watch pro-wrestling to see the big guys wrestle. I accept women wrestling each other, because I believe in equality.. but watching gimmicky matches like bikini contests and bra & panties matches does absolutely nothing for me.

Just curious.. does it do anything for any of you?

It's probably an age thing. When I was in my mid-teens and had never heard of this thing called the Internet, I probably would have thought they were the greatest things on the planet.

they have their place.....barely.....but don't expect to see them go away. As long as Vincent K. is running the show, there will be "divas" in T & A segments on every show.

I will say, that even in my "advanced age" *cough 30s cough*, I am full on to admit that Sunny crossing my screen way back when was one of the big reasons I started watching again.....that is pretty sad actually. Actually it wass the WORKRATE!!! YEAH, that is what brought me back, WORKRATE!!!

It was cool the first time but now it has lost it's value. We know what they look like in thongs so what is the big deal? Once you do the same match for the fiftieth (?) time the fun and excitement is lost.

It does nothing for me. I'd be happy if they eliminated all the Divas altogether but that's just me.

They do absolutely nothing for me either - but that's likely for very different reasons than the rest of you . . .

In addition, I've also never liked them because I think it's pretty disturbing to see women getting beat up while stripping down for my presumed arousal. Not into any kind of violence/porn combo, to be honest.

I enjoy the women when they're not simply being "divas". Even though the matches aren't the highest quality, there's a certain intangible to watching the women go at it which I find interesting. I don't even mind if they're involved with the men and getting violence brought on them, as long as there's some sort of reason. But when they're just paraded out with no rhyme or reason I just get bored to tears. That's why Trish = I watch, Torrie = I don't watch.

Yeah, SPF kinda summed it up for me too. I don't consider liking their matches similar to liking some violence/porn combonation because I don't view wrestling as violence, and what the women do is aout 50 miles from porn.

Seeing Bra and Panties matches and the like doesn't do much. It's like if they had a TLC match every week (eventually) we'd get used to it and bored by it. I honestly think that the entire division is based around Lawler's mindset too much. The man has stated before that putting them over as athletes isn't a priority for him (I think he said that women shouldn't even be wrestling because seeing them do suplexes and such doesn't turn him on. Well fuck, Jerry. You of all people you should be glad that turning people on isn't how you make it as a wrestler)

That being said, as much as I like watching matches with Molly, Trish, and hell, even Victoria, Stacy has that same quality that made me WANT to watch the show that Sunny had back in the day.

There's a time for wrestling and there's a time for wanking. I've always found it best to keep the two separate. Since I prefer brunettes, that's usually pretty easy.
If the women are there, they should either be performing in an in ring capacity or trying to get heat on those who do. This bikini contest crap is pointless.

I don't like them unless they involve NIDIA~! That said, I don't think it necessarily hurts the show. Truth be told, lots of wrestling fans -don't- get on the internet often and like to see a bit of gratuitous T'n'A. I mean, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue still sells like gangbusters, doesn't it? Same thing.

I'm a womans wrestling fan, I dig their matches and effort, a like them on the show. It's just a nice change of pace (but I admit having more then one woman match per show could be pushing it..lol). Even a random womans match (ie Molly/Jacquline on heat), I remember a Trish v. debuting Victoria on Heat was memorable. I remember a Trish/Ivory match on jakked (they both wore purple tops & black pants..lol) which was nice. Random Women wrestling is better then 85% of the stuff that's on B-shows... Personally any combo of Trish, Molly, Victoria, Ivory, Jazz (maybe Nidia) I'm there, I don't even mind if you add Stacy or Lita in limited wrestling roles.

As for TnA matches I don't like them, they take too much away from a character. I remember when Trish started being really good in the ring but still doing TnA some said "oh she can do both". I disagreed and it looks like I'm kinda right. It's like someone doing too much hardcore matches if they try to do a regular match people sit their confused. Same as this the fans don't look at them like real people they look at them as pieces of flesh and if that happens it's IMPOSSIBLE to do any sort of angle/ storyline with her... I don't mind TnA to set something up like Lita/ Trish with the debut of Ivory in RTC or even a couple of weeks ago Trish in a bra but still brawling with Victoria. But Tna just for the sake of it. blah.

I keep hearing it brings ratings but I remember in August/ September when they really pushed more TnA the ratings went down. A 2nd hour Raw with a pillow fight between Terri/ Stacy was outrated by the 1st hour of a intergender table match. Plus the HLA Raw had a real low rating overall and the second hour which was hyped to the moon was just 0.2 over the first.

WWE is trying to take up the Howard Stern philosophy, unfortunatly they are really missing the boat. Stern is a dinosaur, that way of thinking is ancient. Hey WWE don't know if you noticed but his weekend show was cancelled. But do you know what's in now, what's popular. A show like Alias about a sexy girl who can kick butt. Why not try to bring in people who enjoy that show (a lot more then who enjoys Sterns crap) to your show. Once again the "genius" is living a decade behind and missing the boat. Seriously who had pop culture success, Buffy or the man show?... His interview on confidential was scary/ stupid. He said that he knows his demographic and gives them what they wants. He is so lost that he can't notice his demographic is leaving and he doesn't even want to bother opening up to someother demo.

I'm not saying every woman has to dress like Molly does now. Sure sex appeal is nice. Trish's amazing tight pants is a good thing, Stacy's short shorts are cool. I just don't want them spanking each other... Plus I'm also pretty cool with photoshoots and TV specials like sex on the beach. Stuff like that is really separate from their in-ring character.

I also like seeing women wrestle (those that know how).

With that being said, I think I'll add in that Stacey should be referee for EVERY MATCH EVER. Did you see her on Raw when she would get down to count a pin? DID YA SEE THAT DANG THING JIGGLE??? Stacey has the finest rump to ever grace the human race.

Anyone who says that they DONT like seeing the T & A stuff is a damned liar. YES, I do like the women's wrestling. But the T & A is nice too. They just need to separate it better. Youve got Stacy, Torrie, and Dawn Marie for the slut stuff... let the other women just wrestle...

. . . or gay . . .

. . . or a straight female . . .

. . . or someone who is at the point where cheap softcore imitation porn doesn't do it for them . . .

I have no use for the TnA - but I understand why it is there and that most like it. I can put up with the TnA no problem and I like women's wrestling - but like Shea said "mixing the two fucks up both."

EDIT: added the third option upon realizing that my comments might be taken the wrong way.

They gays and the straight women get the half naked, buff men to ogle for TWO HOURS!
The T & A gives us straight males something similar to look at.
What is wrong with that?

nothing. I'm just saying that not everyone who doesn't like TnA is a "damned liar," that's all.

OK, here the thing. When I watch wrestling, sadly enough, I watch it for the wrestling. Having Torrie Wilson or Lita come out in a bra and panties match just breaks the rhythm of the show and seems so out of place. Conversely, when I go to a strip club, the LAST thing I want to see is two guys in tight trunks rolling around on a mat. Different mindset in different places.

Two problems I have. One is that they really have to decide whether the women are T&A or are serious atheletes. I mean, they want us to treat Trish seriously, but isn't she the woman who barked like a dog and made out with McMahon in front of his comatose wife? Second is the fact that they can't push the envelope any farther than they do now. HLA was really as far as network TV can go with this, and even then, there was controversy. Unless I see Torrie and Dawn Marie make out for 10 solid minutes naked, I ain't getting worked up.

By the way, Storm's gimmick includes 1.) telling the audience to shut up, and 2.) occasionally making everyone stand for the Canadian national anthem. You know they don't know what to do with a wrestler when he's making fans stand for a national anthem. It's like waving a white flag and saying, "This guy has no personality -- we give up."

Actually, that's a fairly simple dichotomy to fix. The chicks who're only there for T&A purposes should be used that way - as valets/managers or in the occasional Swimsuit, etc. contest (which leads to actual *wrestling* between their managees: cf. Smackdown 9/26/02); the girls that're actual wrestlers should be doing so, with the Women's Championship as their goal. I have no problem with occasionally crossing these lines - wrestlers as valets (Nidia) or "forcing" eye candy girls to wrestle. But it's a question of character motivation and using the talent appropriately - and eliminating "pointless T&A segments".
