So far Spiderman has earned more than the Scorpion King's total for the past three weeks.

The Scorpion King made $9.6 million to add to its 74.6 million. It's on pace for $90-$100M.

This year might be the biggest year ever at the box office. From Star Wars EP II, and Austin Powers III in the summer to the sequels to Star Trek, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings, there could be many records set this year.

I missed by $39m and knew I would be off when I came out of a Broadway Theater on 44th Street Saturday night and massive lines in front of the theater at the corner of 44th & Broadway.......at least I was right about The Rock not breaking $10m

That is amay-zing!!!

I was very impressed with the movie and being a comic book fan/geek and someone very familiar with Spider-Man's history didn't preclude me from enjoyment with the "changes" that were made. I thought the "origin" story was very well done and had a few tweaks that were very well done.

However, being very familiar with the stories, I saw conclusion to Spidey's battle with Gobby coming a mile away, which did take away from it a little for me, but hey, it's hard to argue with a movie that looks that good. I'll most likely be going to see it again today along with my wife, who will be seeing it for the first time.

Holy crap and a half! I was ONLY off by more than 2X my original prediction of 56 million. The pressure is really going to be on Star Wars Ep II now. It will really suck if Ep II makes 80 million and all the studio execs are still disappointed:

Lucas: "Hey, we did really good for ourselves."
Exec: "You didn't break the 100 million mark like Spiderman did; what a bomb your movie is."

Regarding Spiderman the movie, I really liked it. My only problem was with Kirsten Dunst surprisingly. Her big speech at the end of the flick was so cheesy that people were laughing at her "heartfelt" dialogue. I understand that MJ was a teenager, but Kirsten just didn't look right for the part.

In closing, bring on the summer movie season BABEE!

The only thing about Star Wars is that since it is opening in the middle of the week I have to think it is unlikely to have a WEEKEND gross equal to Spiderman's, and I think people will understand that. However it will be seen as a disappointment if it takes longer than 3 days to break the $100 million mark like Spiderman did.

"The Scorpion King" has been #1 for two weekends now, with gross receipts of $60.8 million. After doing some looking on imdb.
