Here we go again... Week #9! Bringing Down The House & Tears of the Sun open this weekend as the first and second highest grossing films of the weekend, garnering 20 & 19 points respectively.

The usual track of early year crap is doing the yearly freefall down the list. Old School is rising, as is Daredevil and artsy-fartsy The Hours. Chicago is holding strong, gaining another 17 points by finishing 4th in weekend grosses.
THE TOP 5 [5 highest grossing films for weekend of Mar 7-9] 1. Bringing Down The House 2. Tears of the Sun 3. Old School 4. Chicago 5. How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days
Next Week's Opening Films include Benicio Del Toro and Tommy Lee Jones in the cool-looking The Hunted and Frankie Muniz (TV's Malcolm in the Middle) in Agent Cody Banks. Oh, and Crispin Glover's cool rat-flick Willard.
Hmm... I'm leaning towards rats and Hunted over Cody Banks. Watching Frankie Muniz fumbling over his words? Heck, I can see that FOR FREE weekly.
The Chase Is On: 8th: Oilers [29-23-8-8] 74pts; 14 games left 14th: Flames [23-31-10-4] 60pts; 14 games left Flames must win 7 more games than the Oilers do to make playoffs Any combination of 7 Oilers wins or Flames losses eliminates them from the playoffs
I saw the Quiet american, which didn't even make the list.
It was very good, although it's not going to retroactively make my 2002 top ten list.

I still wanna see The Quiet American. I hear is suffers from good performance in a middling film syndrome.

I think the film also "suffers" from cultural context syndrome, since it revolves around US involvement in Vietnam. And with war on the horizon, you can't help but insert today's headlines into the film, I'd hazard no matter how you feel about current hostilities.
