This is strange, but I don't recall having watched a game with Bradshaw in the booth before and I must say....I really dig it. I'm kinda shocked, and I haven't watched the whole game but in the first half he was making great observations and was just enjoyable to listen to.

I LOVED the story about the LSU reciever who got the Lasix surgery and broke up with his GF afterwards, I'm also digging Bradshaw and Howie on the comments.

You know, I think they might be on to something with Long and Bradshaw. They work pretty well together. And Bradshaw's admission that he didn't have the SAT scores to get in to LSU was hysterical.

I guess the Sugar Bowl pretty much cemented Jamarcus Russell's entry into the NFL draft.

After the fumble was overturned at 21-14 early in the 3rd quarter, the snowball turned into an avalanche on Notre Dame. Weis should have just gone power running in the 1st half instead of trying versions of reverses, as Walker was effective against LSU early.
As for Bradshaw: I think he and Greg Gumbel were doing games together on the old NFC on CBS package late 80's/early 90's before Terry went in the booth.

I am a Note Dame fan, but even I knew going into this game with LSU that we were in trouble. A guy I work with is an Alumni from ND and his three kid went/will graduate from there. He was convinced that ND would smoke LSU. I told him not only did I think ND would lose, but they would lose by double digits for sure. Well, thsi got his into an outrage and he kept telling me to put my money where my mouth is. I am not a betting man so I kept trying to pass. Finally, he said he would give me 10 to 1 odds on ND either wining outright or losing by less than ten. My $100.00 vs. his $1,000.00. I again tried to pass telling him that was too much money but he STILL pushed it. Even going so far as to pull out the old classics of "Be a Man", "What are you scared/chicken?" and "Take your skirt off Mary". Well this drew a crowd and now I was geting a little pissed. I told him OK, I would do the bet, but under this condition: If Notre Dame wins, I will kick in another $50 but if they lose by more than 20, he has to kick in another $500. So the bet in all could come out to my $150 vs. his $1500. Well, at half time I was nervous, but by the middle of the third quarter, I knew I had won both ends. At the end of the game was the only time I have ever cheered ND to lose and lose bad.

Today, I came in the office around 7:00 am and sat at my desk which is right near the front door. A few people who heard about the bet came over to congratulate me and wait for my co-worker to show up and pay off. When he came in, I was actually going to tell him to forget it and keep the money, but he threw and envelope with the money in it at me as he walked by and said "Lucky motherfucker" and wnet into his office and closed the door. After that I said screw it an decided to keep to money. If he couldn't be gracious loser, then he does not deserve the money back. I still have not seen him outside his office except to get lunch.

Well, I am now $1,500 richer and the office is still taking about it. I feel bad (only a little) about betting against Notre Dame, but anyone who thought ND had a chance at winning was not watching either ND all year or LSU. ND is on the right track, but they are 2 to 3 years away from competing for the National title on a yearly basis. We are only in year 2 of the Weis era. By year 4, we will be a force.

Now, if you really want to stick it to him, use that money to get tickets to the USC game at ND or the Penn State or Michigan games on the road next season.
I thought they had a shot because LSU's offense has had games where they haven't shown up, especially late in the year at home where they had to come back and tie Ole Miss in the last 20 seconds.
The last 1/3 of the '07 Notre Dame schedule isn't bad next season. The first 2/3's could be a disaster breaking in a new QB. 8-4 would be an acceptable year with this schedule.

2007 Notre Dame Schedule
9/1 Georgia Tech
9/8 at Penn State
9/15 at Michigan
9/22 Michigan State
9/29 at Purdue
10/6 at UCLA
10/13 Boston College
10/20 USC
11/3 Navy
11/10 Air Force
11/17 Duke
11/24 at Stanford

Oh please, you're going to base the entire season on meaningless games that came a month after the regular season? Anybody who puts that much weight into the bowl games is a moron.

So it's moronic to look at head-to-head competition between good teams as an indicator of how good a conference is? Or is it just moronic to consider the game that every team strives for all year long _ a good bowl game _ to be an indicator? Or is it moronic to keep squawking about how great a conference is when you look at what it's done against other power conferences and realize that the record isn't that impressive?

Arkansas: Played two BCS non-conference opponents. 0-2
Tennessee: Played two BCS non-conference opponents. 1-1
Florida: Has played no BCS non-conference opponents yet.
Georgia: Played three BCS non-conference opponents. 3-0
Kentucky: Played two BCS non-conference opponents. 1-1
South Carolina: Played one BCS non-conference opponent. 1-0
Vanderbilt: Played two BCS non-conference opponents. 1-1
Auburn: Played two BCS non-conference opponents. 2-0
LSU: Played one BCS non-conference opponent (so far). 1-0
Alabama: Played two BCS non-conference opponents. 1-1
Ole Miss: Played two BCS non-conference opponents. 0-2
Mississippi State: Played one BCS non-conference opponent. 0-1

So the SEC went 11-8 against other BCS conferences. That could go as far up as 13-8 or as far down as 11-10.

Now, let's compare that to, say, the "weak" Big East:
Louisville: Played four BCS non-conference opponents. 4-0
Rutgers: Played three BCS non-conference opponents. 3-0
WVU: Played two BCS non-conference opponents. 2-0
South Florida: Played two BCS non-conference opponents. 1-1
Cincinnati: Played two BCS non-conference opponents. 0-2
Pittsburgh: Played two BCS non-conference opponents. 1-1
UCONN: Played two BCS non-conference opponents. 1-1
Syracuse: Played three BCS non-conference opponents. 1-2

The Big East went 13-7 against other BCS conferences.

My point is not that the SEC suddenly sucks; it's that the SEC isn't the only conference that can play ball, despite what SEC fans say.

Florida played 1 BCS non-conference opponent(FSU) and is 1-0.

Ok, so any guesses as to how Gator fans will pretend they never disliked Chris Leak at all, after he wins them this title?

And is anyone else hoping he mentions how they never believed in him when they interview him after the game?

Well, I hope for that or Ohio State to actually play football in the second half and make it interesting. Not sure which I want more right now though.
