This show is looking...not so good and could formally mark the end of TNA's hot streak. Here's what we've got:
MAIN EVENT: WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Austin Aries (champion) vs. "The Charismatic Enigma" Jeff Hardy God, I'm still washing the taste of that show-ending promo from last Thursday out of my mouth. See, here's the problem...Aries going heel and going on a major heel hotstreak is a great idea...if the Aces & Eights angle wasn't in the way. And it is. So I'll go with Jeff winning the title here and being set up as...sigh...company savior. WINNER: Jeff Hardy
ACES & EIGHTS vs. TEAM TNA Aces & Eights vs. "The Icon" Sting & Bully Ray This is the easiest call of the night and probably the easiest call of the year. Ray turns on Sting the Giant Idiot, Aces win. WINNERS: Aces & Eights
WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Christopher Daniels & Kazarian vs AJ Styles & Kurt Angle vs Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez I don't want the World Tag Team Champions of the World era to ever end. They've been so great and a consistent highlight of every show. Champs retain after Styles and Kurt turn on each other. WINNERS: The World Tag Team Champions of the World
STREET FIGHT Bobby Roode vs. "Cowboy" James Storm Special Enforcer: King Mo This is going to be fun! We get a brutal, bloody brawl the likes of which we haven't seen in months. Storm wins with the beer bottle to the head, to emphatically end this feud once and for all. WINNER: James Storm
TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP Magnus vs. Samoa Joe This could be a sleeper for Match of the Night. Both guys give us a great brawl, but Joe pulls it out with the Clutch. WINNER: Samoa Joe
KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP Miss Tessmacher (champion) vs. Tara Well, this has been mostly angle so far and for the Hollywood boyfriend angle to continue, Tara has to win the title, so... WINNER: Tara
X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP Zema Ion (champion) vs. Rob Van Dam Van Dam could do some great things with the title and make some new stars with it. The Ion experiment has been a bust and I really don't think it's worth it to keep waiting for Sorenson to come back. It's time to pull the plug. WINNER: Rob Van Dam
Al Snow vs Joey Ryan I don't get Ryan's appeal. He comes across as so generic to me. Regardless, I think he wins here. WINNER: Joey Ryan
Bonus prediction: We finally learn who's behind the Aces & Eights...and it's Eric Bischoff, thrilling no one.
MAIN EVENT: WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Austin Aries (champion) vs. "The Charismatic Enigma" Jeff Hardy Can I predict a Jeff Hardy OD before the show or is that wishful thinking? Hate that this asshole is being rewarded when he f'd the company over less than a year ago. But I imagine TNA feels that gave Aries more than a fair run (which they have). WINNER: Jeff Hardy
ACES & EIGHTS vs. TEAM TNA Aces & Eights vs. "The Icon" Sting & Bully Ray It is so obvious that Bully Ray is turning on Sting, that it almost isn't obvious. Hoping they don't pull a Vince and keep him face just because the fans know. WINNERS: Aces & Eights
WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Christopher Daniels & Kazarian vs AJ Styles & Kurt Angle vs Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez This could be MOTN, maybe even a MOTC. I agree that Angle and AJ are gonna feud, so they are out. I'm thinking that they wanna make the Chavo signing mean something, so they won't job him this quick. Plus, WTTCotW can always screw them over and get the belts back down the road. WINNERS: LAX 2.0
STREET FIGHT Bobby Roode vs. "Cowboy" James Storm Special Enforcer: King Mo This will be great, but it is a no brainer. If Storm lost, it would kill him for good. WINNER: James Storm
TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP Magnus vs. Samoa Joe I am becoming a bigger Magnus fan by the week, but I think Joe is gonna have a long reign to put some stability and credibility on the TV Title after the Devon fiasco. WINNER: Samoa Joe
KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP Miss Tessmacher (champion) vs. Tara TNA Loves them some Boring Brooke. I figure she wins here. In my fantasy world, Kong or Beth Phoenix beat her down afterword. WINNER: Brooke
X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP Zema Ion (champion) vs. Rob Van Dam I really wonder what the point with Ion has been. I figured this was all for a Sorenson return. Maybe he isn't ready (if so, we've wasted months on the useless Ion when we coulda had great matches with Kenny King or even Dutt. WINNER: RVD
Al Snow vs Joey Ryan I think Al kicks Ryan's ass and maybe get's DQ'd. WINNER: Joey Ryan
MAIN EVENT: WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Austin Aries (champion) vs. "The Charismatic Enigma Anti-Christ" Jeffery Nero Hardy Jeff's been talking about how this is the end of his road to redemption. But its the end not because he's redeemed, but because he turns back to the darkside. And that's a very good thing, because the evil Nero character is fantastic. He turns towards the end of the match after pulling down his purple jumpsuit thing to reveal an Aces and Eights shirt. WINNER: Jeff Hardy
ACES & EIGHTS vs. TEAM TNA Kevin Nash and Bane Scott Steiner w/Eric Bischoff vs. "The Icon" Sting & "Calfzilla" Bully Ray Immortal was not a bad idea, it just lacked a cool factor to it. Turning them into a group of evil motorcycle drivers was somehow the optimal solution. I say that seriously. I've found that its much easier to explain to people my love of pro-wrestling when I describe the concept of the show as a wrestling organization that is at war with a biker gang. WINNERS: Aces & Eights
WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Christopher Daniels & Kazarian vs AJ Styles & Kurt Angle vs Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez Scotty Flamingo is right. The anarchialess Mexican America has been overlooked enough that I think they will sneak past their advesaries to score the win.
Plus, that Brisco kid is turning on someone. WINNERS: Guerrero and Henandez
STREET FIGHT Bobby Roode vs. "Cowboy" James Storm Special Enforcer: King Mo Ric Flair returns to aid Bobby Roode, but Storm overcomes his interfearance. Storm does not overcome an attack from King Mo, however. This Thursday Flair/Roode/Mo/WTTCOTW reform Fortune. WINNER: Bobby Roode
TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP Magnus vs. Samoa Joe Hopefully, Joe can keep his hotstreak alive. WINNER: Samoa Joe
KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP Miss Tessmacher (champion) vs. Tara Via Morrisonterfearance. WINNER: Tara
X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP Zema Ion (champion) vs. Rob Van Dam I've gotta think that RVD is good enough to beat Zema. I look forward to having RVD in the X Division. He is the centerpiece champion it needs. WINNER: Rob Van Dam
Al Snow vs Joey Ryan 87% chance of victory, baby! WINNER: Joey Ryan
Bonus predictions: Lex Luger turns on Sting during the Hall of Fame Ceremony
The longer I go without watching TNA, the more abstract predicting their PPVs is, I guess.
Hardy. It's crazy to put a guy with his track record in that spot, but they probably will.
Aces & Eights. Count me as one who thinks that they should avoid the obvious here. How about...Sting decides he can't trust Ray after all, and replaces him with someone else. They lose--maybe the replacement turns on Sting--and Ray makes the save from the post-match beatdown, thereby becoming an uberface. OK, I know, no fantasy booking. Anyway, you don't do this angle and this stip to have the heel faction NOT get in.
Daniels/Kazarian. Sounds like they've really been shining, so why change?
Storm. Am I the only one who hears the name "King Mo" and thinks of Men On A Mission?
Samoa Joe. They seem to actually be trying to make him look good for a change.
Zema. RVD trying to become X Division champion and failing makes the division look important. RVD actually becoming X Division champion does not.
Joey Ryan. You don't bring Al Snow out of retirement to beat a guy who will then never wrestle for your company, right?
Matt Hardy on the most recent SmackDown! is a good example of this. While I'd prefer to have seen him go over Helms cleanly, showing that he is indeed better than him, I at least could buy the cheating here as a sort of poetic justice.
