Booker must have meant Verne Gagne, not Greg. Has Greg really contributed ANYTHING to the business? I'm not mocking, just asking if anyone knows of any major contributions from the guy.
Well, whatever it is, it's certainly generated some buzz.
If by some strange chance it's not a work, they've at least exaggerated it to play it up. As has been noted, real fights don't go 5 minutes. They especially don't go 5 minutes when an upper mid carder is pounding on your brand's number 1 injured star. Not to mention on a set of a commercial, where a lot of professional people would be mighty pissed off that two behemoths are knocking each other around.
Also, you'd expect some discipline to be handed down. If this was a 5 minute 'bloody' UFC type brawl, you'd expect fines, suspensions, agents to be reprimanded etc. If Booker gets jobbed out in 30 seconds to (winner of Finlay/Lashley), then I'd buy it.
No matter what, it's strange they're playing it up, angle or not. It makes Batista look like a jackass.
I guess we'll see if it's mentioned as we get closer to SS.
Generally, in cases like this, Meltzer is usually correct though. But if it's real, bully for Booker for manning up and beating down the Animal.
Why assume that Batista's to blame? I mean, it's not like I know who started the fight, or even if there was a real fight, but there's nothing except Booker's account to suggest it was Batista's fault, and even he doesn't say Batista took a swing at him, he just says Batista wasn't respecting him. So why bully for Booker? It could just as easily have been him who started it.

Sorry, I should have clarified that. I was being a bit glib. It's just that Batista is bigger and probably stronger. Also, it's a mid-carder beating up a main eventer, that's always good for morale.
from the article-- "I also spoke to a number of Smackdown talents who said that they were happy that Booker said and did what he did. I was told a lot of them hugged and high-fived Booker for saying what needed to be said and then backing it up with his hands."
I will NEVER be able to read the words "aaying what needed to be said" ever again without hearing it in the crying "still real to me, dammit" wrestling fan's voice.
So here's my question: In a million years, did you ever think this would happen? One decade ago, I didn't even have an e-mail address or know what the Internet was ... now I can watch Piper slam a coconut against Snuka's head whenever I want? What will the world be like 10 years from now? Is it possible to procrastinate for 24 hours a day? Are we headed that way? -Bill Simmons on YouTube.
Man, what a load of crap. If Batista wants to walk around with a big head, LET HIM. He's a hard worker, and he got himself over to the point that WWE had to take notice of his popularity. This isn't Randy Orton we're talking about here. And even if it was, the dumbass schoolboy attitude of "beating some respect into him" isn't anything to be applauded.
To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow
I rather liked the article written by Grut on InsidePulse.com that said the two of them talked behind closed doors afterwards and came to the conclusion that Batista now has to sign his name as 'Booker T's Bitch' for now on and Booker T will not beat the shit outta him any more.
The 'cuts' on Batista's chin and nose look kinda fake, but the bruise on his temple looks real; also, his right eye looks kinda messed up.
If, supposedly, Batista didnt fight back, how did Booker T get a swollen eye?
The recent Booker T/Dave Batista fight started because of Batista's mouth. During the Summerslam commercial shoot, Batista consistently mouthed off about the Smackdown brand. He badmouthed the other workers, saying that the show could not draw without him around to pull in ratings, and that everyone was hoping he would heal from his injuries quick enough to come back and "save the show". He consistently degraded the quality of the Smackdown shows, saying that they "just haven't been the same" since he left, and kept pointing out that Raw was clearly the superior show.
While these comments were what led directly to the fight, the tensions between Batista and the rest of the roster had been building for some time. Since the departure of Brock Lesnar, Batista has believed himself to be "above" the rest of the roster, and has claimed on several occasions to be on the same level as The Rock, Steve Austin and Triple H. While his ego never seemed to be a problem backstage before his injury, he's always been prideful of his friendship with Triple H, even going so far as to point out to other workers that he's friends with "management".
The fight clearly did not favor Big Dave, however, as Booker was definitely taking the upper hand before Sharmell pulled him off of Batista. Batista has claimed that he was protecting his injured arm, thus giving a reason for losing the fight.
All parties agreed not to talk about the fight, mainly because Batista did get dominated and WWE brass doesn't want the public to know that one of the brand's main drawing cards was decisively beaten in a real fight by someone who's not supposed to be in his league.

Complete work.
Cole was careful to not mention Batista's name on Smackdown.
I have no reason to doubt Wade's version of the story.

"It's on the company's website" no longer carries any water. As has been stated repeatedly, WWE started posting real news (shoots and all) on its website a long time ago. Just take a look at some of the past firings and subsequent interviews with those fired. Some say it's so they can "scoop" the Kellers and Meltzers of the world. Right now, I have no reason to believe it's NOT a shoot. Of course, that doesn't mean this won't get turned into a worked angle later on ala Edge/Lita/Matt Hardy.
Michael Cole was named to replace the previous website guy because some people thought it was reporting too much real news. Supposedly, the site is moving away from real stuff in favor of a more storyline-heavy approach.

That's weird. Why not just ask the previous guy to stop reporting real news?

Y'know, this is the kind of thing I wish more people knew about, so I could cite it as an example when I tell them being 300 pounds is of no practical use to you in a fight.
That picture totally screams "The guy on the left got his ass kicked by the guy on the right and really doesnt wanna be hanging around with him right now. Meanwhile, the guy on the right kicked the guy on the left's ass, but he's having the time of his life right now & really isnt even thinking about that anymore". Comedy.
