Oh, how I HATE Duke. Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate them.

So I'm VERY happy right now even though my brackets are totally screwed. It is soooo worth it.

WOOOOO! Rat Face goes down again!!! Too bad it couldn't have been Arizona/Duke in the final four with my Cats going over this year. Ah well, when Carolina isn't in it, everything goes to shit.

Yeah, Duke losing screwed up my brackets. But it also screwed up everyone elses so all is good.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! WE BEAT DUKE! WE BEAT DUKE! The Hoosiers knocked off the #1 team in the country!

Dudes, I used to live in Bloomington, and I still live in Indianapolis, where Hoosier Hysteria is just as strong as in the Hoosiers' actual home town. I was literally bouncing up and down during the last few minutes of the game, and when the Hoosiers won, I yelled “YES!” right into the ear of my co-worker.

For Jason Williams, I send you off with this refrain: “Nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah, hey hey, goodbye!”

If we can beat Duke, we can beat anyone. So, with all due respect to Kent State, I still feel I have to ask 'em this question:

What'cha gonna do when the cream and crimson runs wild on YOU?

Duke screwed me up also but as long as it hurts everyone equally, that's a good thing.

Still in first place!!!!

Now if someone could knock off Kansas then the highest ranked team left would be maryland. I still say kentucky may be the team to beat coming up.

GO MISSOURI!

Yeah! Go Big Blue! I hope we can beat Maryland tonight. Indiana gave me hope.

Am I the only only one who thought it strange that for one night Rupp Arena rocked for the Hoosiers. Who would have thunk it? I guess it goes to show most Kentuckians are like me and FREAKIN' HATE DUKE!

FUCK YOU DUKE!!! 1992 still hurts. And one day Aminu Timberlake is gonna run into Christian Laetnerr and kick his ass for stepping on him in that game! I know he will!

Sorry for the strong language, but I HATE DUKE!

The only real downside to Duke losing is that pending tonight's games the National Semifinals could be Maryland/Kansas and OU/Missou vs. IU/Kent State. The two best teams playing on Saturday instead of Monday night is not good, but what are you gonna do? (Watch baseball instead of the final.) Oh yeah.

The two best teams? I think Kent St, Kentucky, Missouri and SIU may be the best teams at this point (due to how they have played in the tourney). Maryland is good but i dont know if they are good enough to beat Kentucky at this point. I think the championship game is going to be a hell of a game even if you dont think the two teams in it are the best.

I went to bed when IU was down beaucoup points at halftime because I had no hope.

I still have no hope. The closest they got when I was an undergrad was 92 when they went to the Final Four.

That is absolutely preposterous. Kentucky is good, but let's be realistic here. Kentucky is TWO DEEP, and not even that because Keith Bogans is the most disappointing player in Division I and cannot be counted on to show up in big games because he's yet to prove that he's up to that challenge. Tayshaun Prince is money, but will he drop 40 on Maryland shooting the 3 like he did against Tulsa? I would bet the farm that he won't.

Maryland has with the exception of Kansas the most dominant frontcourt in college basketball with Lonnie Baxter and Chris Wilcox. Juan Dixon is as good as it gets at the two guard and is one of the three best players still left in the tournament. Not to mention they go 8 deep with extremely strong bench play at every position.

Is it a lock to beat Kentucky? Absolutely not. Kentucky is a talented team as compared with the vast majority of D-I schools and can beat anyone on a given night. But to contend that Maryland isn't GOOD enough or that Southern Illinois is playing better basketball? Ridiculous.

I never said maryland isn't good enough. They are a top tier team. Kentucky is on a roll rt now and that is what they have been missing all year. You think they are just two deep but do you think maryland is up to the challenge of stopping those two? Make no mistake i like maryland but i pick Kentucky for that game.

No offense from what i've seen in the tournament those four teams are playing the best basketball. Southern Illinois has played two great games so i guess we will see how they play against the upper tier teams.

You did say that you didn't think Maryland wasn't good enough to be Kentucky at this point. That's a quote, and I quoted you.

Yes, Kentucky is on a two-game roll, or should I say Tayshaun Prince is on a two-game roll. UK beat an overmatched Valpo squad and Tulsa--while good, is just not good enough--Maryland sleepwalked through Siena and utterly dominated Wisconsin. Completely discounting the Siena game---because Duke absolutely murdered Winthrop and look where Duke is now--I think the way Maryland handled Wisconsin is what people should be looking at and realize that Maryland is absolutely deserving of its 1 seed and playing at that level.

Prince is a matchup problem for the entire NCAA...but just like any shooter, he's shown that he's streaky. He's been good but not great through the regular season, and he went up against two mid-major teams that did not have the talent to guard a 6-9 forward with outside touch. Maryland does. Byron Mouton and Wilcox are both athletic as hell and *can* guard Prince. Prince, though, is good enough to play better than both guys. (I think Bogans will be a complete nonfactor.) If Prince hits his shots, I think Kentucky can win...but Maryland is just the better team. Point blank.

Well as I die hard UK fan, I'm wearing my beloved UK polo shirt and hat as we speak (which angers all the 'We've never been to the dance' Marshall fans I work with) I must say we need a ton of help to beat Maryland. I will disagree that we are TWO deep though. In any given game the Cats have a bevy of talent they can go to provided they show up. Fitch, Estill, Carruth, Camara, and Hawkins all come to mind. Each have been big contributors at one time or another this year. Granted none of those guys have showed up yet this post season, but they certainly have the ability too.

But my point is that UK is more than TWO deep. Hell we were one deep in 1992 and almost beat Duke when no one thought we could. When it comes tourney time never, EEEVER count out the Big Blue.

Ok.... now we are getting in to wording issues.... i said maryland was good but I (as in me) didn't know (as in unsure, as in really dont know) if they can beat kentucky.

I've only seen a few of the maryland games. I never said they are not good enough to beat kentucky. From what i have seen kentucky is playing among the best (again from what i have seen) and from my own opinions those 4 teams are playing the best. Considering i did not see the last maryland game my view is probably a little biased (i only got to see the stats). I'm going by what i saw from the last couple games i have seen.

Sorry for winding you up like that. No way did i mean to imply that maryland was inferior. I actually have them going to the championship game in my bracket. Kentucky has just really impressed me and maryland hasn't thus far.

I notice that no one is talking about my boys, the Illini. I hope they can pull it off tonight against KU. It helped last year when they had 20 turnovers or something, but I don't know about a repeat of that. My brackets have been toast basically since day one, so all I care about anymore is Illinois. Well, if they lose, I did pick Oklahoma as my national champs, so that's something.
