I was looking through a behind the scenes Spiderman book last night and I had a thought: if Macho Man does well in the movie, which is almost guaranteed to be a massive success, do you think it's beyond Vince to bring him in for a feud with Hogan? If he'll milk the Orange Goblin for cheap pops, nostalgia and ratings, why wouldn't he capitalize on Macho Man's run as Bonesaw McGraw in the summer's biggest blockbuster?
Maybe he's already talking to Macho...just a thought...

I'd say it's because Savage wants a $5 Million downside gaurantee taht we won't see him in the WWF any time soon. Besides, he's been a free agent for how long now? Face it, if he wanted to be back in the WWF he'd have done so by now.

I wouldn't put it past Vince to bring back the Macho Man. But as much as I like Savage, I think that would be a horrible idea. Think:

--If he teams Hogan with Savage, we'll end up having infamous matches in which the Mega Powers run over all of the competition.

--If he sides Hogan against Savage, we might end up having a PPV main event between those two-- perhaps at KotR? That's something I don't want to see, either.

And you know that one way or another, Savage would be involved with Hogan if he returned to the WWF. So, Mach', I like ya, but please don't come back.

I mentioned in an earlier post that if Mach was to come back, it should be as a deranged old man like his Leonard Ghostal character from Space Ghost Coast to Coast (again, thanks to Ubermonkeys for providing me the link to the show transcript).

Just the idea of an old wrestler coming back totally out of it and acting like it's the old days facing Haystacks Calhoun and the like. I'd get a kick out of that.

I think you misunderstand me. Sure, Savage has been a free agent for a long time and supposedly wants a huge guarantee, but until now, he has not been in the public eye. When people see him in Spiderman, he may catch on and it may prompt Vince to hire him.

Hulk Hogan sure was a good investment. Granted, that's Hulk Hogan, the legend, but Macho Man is well-known as the Slim Jim guy as well.
Whatever the WWF did regarding Macho Man before Spiderman is kind of a moot point.

What does everyone think? Would it be a good idea to hire Macho, or not? Do you like him? Do you want to see him?

Would Vince do it? Yeah, I wouldn't put it past him if the movie does well and Savage's role is prominent enough to generate some buzz.

Is it a good idea? From a business standpoint... mebbie. Sign him to a real short term deal (like one or two PPVs) to milk him for everything he's worth before the fad value wears off.

Of course, if it happened it would suck royally. Because either he and Hogan don't interact (which is somewhat akin to having a giant elephant in the room and not pointing it out), or they team up or fight eachother and that's too high a concentration of decrepit for one ring to have to bear.

Why not put Macho in the NWO and have him feud with Austin?

I say Screw the Rules! The best wrestler is the one who entertaines the most people... If youre a champ it does not mean automaticly that youre a good or the best wrestler/entertainer... I didn't like Y2J as a champ and he won because he cheated...
