Anyone know where I can find some recent Steve Blackman tapes?

[Mick Foley]There ARE NO STEVE BLACKMAN TAPES![/Mick Foley]

Check out the WWF Hardcore DVD. It's not exclusive to Steve Blackman, but lots of extras have some matches from his run as the champion.

That's the best I can do. I can't imagine anyone compiling a Best Of Steve Blackman, but stranger things have happened I suppose.

No, I'm talking indy stuff. I have a friend who's a huge Blackman fan, and he specifically wants some Blackman matches he hasn't seen for his b-day.

I don't think Blackman really did any indy stuff. IIRC, he started out in Stampede in the late 80's for a short time, then disappeared due to some injury or illness, then returned in late 97 in the WWF.

Yeah, I *believe* (I've been known to be wrong, so don't quote me) that he suffered malaria on a trip to Africa and took years to properally recover. When he returned, he got a second chance at the WWF more or less off the bat...

This is off the top of my head. CRZ will probably confirm or deny this stuff, since I'm assuming he knows probably as much about Blackman's career as anyone.

I don't know if Blackman ever made it to OVW TV. If DrewDeuce is around, he might be able to tell us? (I assume that's what you're talking about - or was Blackman sent to HWA?)

Either or. And that's the indy stuff I was referring to.

Actually, it was gastrointeritis or some other rather nasty and long lasting stomach/intestinal thing. He had actually been signed to a WWF contract right before the Africa trip, so they just suspended it until he was in shape to wrestle again (when he did the Vader run in.)
JR says he is facing vetebrae surgery for bone spurs so I'm guessing he's been out on injury the whole time as I've not heard about him being anywhere doing anything.

Wasn't BLackman the 'fan' that ran-in to kick the crap out of Bret Hart during the Hart Foundation Canada vs. US thing?

Well, my memory needs refreshing on the match. But, yes Blackman was introduced as a "fan" who ran in on a match. I think Vader was in the match. The storyline was that Vader was "so impressed with Blackman he convinced the WWF to let Steve have some 'tryout' matches." CRZ or someone else may have it archived in their database.

Yeah and it should be archived as the turning point in wrestling history.

Vader was facing the Bulldog the Monday before Survivor Series 97. After Vader wins Neidhart, Furnas, and LaFon attacked Vader, and Blackman jumps over the barricade and attacks the three. They then start to beat the piss out of him and Vader covers Blackman, protecting him. Steve gets thrown out by security, but later on Vader posts bail and gets him into the Team USA vs Team Canada Survivor Series match. Phew...

Details are sketchy at best, so we've taken what little information we have, added our own theories, and concluded that whatever the likely disaster, it's most likely the work of our former president Richard M Nixon, even though he is rumored dead." -Kent Brockman

Thanks, Markme... I really didn't know. Where's Mr. Charisma, huh? He'd be a great tag partner for Lance Storm...

I seriously don't understand this. From all accounts, The Boogeyman is accident-prone and not at all a good wrestler. He also didn't try very hard in OVW and he is also OLD.
