| #1 Posted on 25.1.03 0637.32 | I think that Eric Bischoff's WWE run is nearing an end. I read Tom Zenk's column before and now I am more than convinced. Doesn't Austin hate Bischoff for the way he was treated back in WCW? (Losing to Jim Duggan in 30 seconds). And now Sleazy E is the one who's requesting that Austin come back?
Yup, Bischoff's gonna get humiliated. Bischoff's not worth the tv time anyway. If they get rid of HHH, Steiner and Albert...then the ratings will go up.| Promote this thread! | | Scott Summets

Ummmmm..... Bischoff isn't bringing Austin back, Vince is. Bischoff the CHARACTER is, but if you believe that Eric is running things backstage.... then, er.... I don't know what to say.

| #3 Posted on 25.1.03 0831.05 | | No wiseass, The ANGLE is that Eric is bringing back Austin. What my post was about is the fact that Vince is planning to humiliate Bischoff before he is out of the WWE. I made the assumption that this is the storyline that will lead to Bischoff's demise. | whatever

Actually, I like Bischoff's character quite a lot. The over-the-top nature gives the writing crew a lot of leeway to get out of booking messes. I think the general plan appears to be that Bisch can get drunk with power on his own show, but Vince (or any McMahon for that matter) could step in at any time to remind him who's really in charge. The thing I am afraid of is that this might degenerate into Austin vs. Owner/Manager/Authority Figure once again.
As far as ratings, well, releasing three guys is *not* going to increase ratings. In the case of HHH, I could actually envision a drop of ratings upon his release. I do agree that HHH should be utilized differently (to help build new stars). The real problem seems to lie in the lack of booking to create new stars and the lack of compelling storylines with at least plausible continuity.

| #5 Posted on 25.1.03 1011.56 | I think the Bischoff character is in fact interesting, and I'm sure Vince is not quite ready to get rid of that character, so I dont think humiliating before release has much merit. It may be a humiliation like Vince used to suffer at the hands of Austin on screen back in the original Vince vs Austin fued, but I dont think it will be anything worse than that. You also need to keep in mind that Tom Zenk really hates the WWE and is bitter towards Vince, so he will go out of his way to come up with far fetched scenarios to stir things up and to get us talking/bashing the WWE.

| #8 Posted on 25.1.03 1554.26 | what if some Biscoff/Vince feud is in the works, and Austin is supposed to be Bishoff's trump card? The WWE has already figured out that Austin siding with Vince just won't work, but they also want to make Austin a heel. Why not pair him with Bischoff against a quasi-face Vince?

Albert is on SmackDown so releasing him won't effect Raw's rating anyway ;-)
Steiner I think will be gone after No Way Out and I agree with whatever's opinion that HHH needs to be utilized in a different way.

Because that is where the Hogan/Vince feud throws a monkey wrench into the plans. Also, turning Austin heel right now would be the wrong move, because the marks are going to cheer him anyway for the first few months. Even WCW wasn't dumb enough to turn Flair when he initially returned in '98, one of the few times during that time period WCW didn't do anything stupid.

| #11 Posted on 27.1.03 0155.26 | Eliminating Bischoff would lead to the return of either Shane or Vince to the role of GM or Boss-type figure, which would, any way you slice it, be a retread of 1998. I think it's time to shake up the format and write the shows so that it is entirely unnecessary for this "crooked official" character to be needed. Jack Tunney didn't have a weekly presence, and Vince McMahon doesn't need one. Let JR handle bombshell announcements by getting on the house mic and saying "we've just been informed that..." and so on.
Since the RAW ratings were no better before Bischoff got here, I don't see how removing him equals instant 8's.

| #12 Posted on 27.1.03 1303.33 | To separate Raw and Smackdown completely, they should have Shane run Raw with Eric in the sense of being against one another. They can compete every Monday in some sort of power struggle. At the same time have Steph and Paul Heyman run Smackdown. The two GMs of each show will be too busy competing with each other, that the brand extentions will work perfectly. The two shows won't have to acknowlegde each others existance, except on pay-per-views. It'll be like the old W.C.W. owner (Eric) vs. the last W.C.W. owner (Shane), and old E.C.W. owner (Paul) vs. the last E.C.W. owner (Steph). They should keep Eric
