From the Observer(stolen from a post on another MB):

"There is talk that Billy Gunn might not be able to return from his current injury that has caused some nerve damage. If not, he could become a road agent."

That'd be a shame because you don't like to see that sort of thing happen to anybody. Like him or hate him, he was a big part of the "Attitude" era of the WWF(mostly as part of the New Age Outlaws and Degeneration X).

Its a shame his career has had to end, but i was never a fan of Billy Gunn. He was the main "Over Seller". He would oversell so much in 1 match than Undertaker would sell in a year.

Yeah, I was never a fan of Billy Gunn either, but it's still a sad story. He was just getting some good heat behind him with the Billy & Chucky thing, then this happened. Now he's more-than-likely retired, while Chuck Palumbo is a 4th rate jobber who will probably be standing on the unemployement line, right behind Justin Credible and in front of Jamal, in a few months.

Well, while Gunn almost dropped Benoit on his head twice in a two week period in late 2000, nearly depriving us of years of Benoit matches (we lost a year anyways), he DID provide us entertainment as one-half of the coolest tag team of my childhood, the Smoking Gunns. And, he *was* part of D-X and the New Age Outlaws, so I guess we owe him for his part in making wrestling suck a little less than it would've without him.

So long to the Man of a 1,000 Failed Singles Pushes!

I didn't mind Gunn in the midcard tag team role but he was just missing that something extra to be a singles performer. He is close to 40 and I remember him saying awhile ago that he didn't think he had too many years left in him. He had close to a ten year run with WWF/WWE, that's pretty impressive.

Hey, it could have been Albert who got hurt. I think it's still sad when any athlete not named Triple H or Kevin Nash gets hurt. Of course, if there name IS Triple H or Kevin Nash, that can only mean good things for the rest of the world. Oh, throw Undertaker's name in there too. "I won't job to Brock Lesnar." What an ass!

That is a shame. He was never a great singles wrestler but his accomplishments in the tag team division cannot be overlooked.

From the infamous Wrestleline SS interview:

DTD: If you were to make changes in WCW, if you were in charge and not Ric Flair, what would they be?

SS: I'd get rid of all the old guys, and push the talent that has waited to get the push. The things they are doing, it's back in the 1980s. It's just bad, man. Flair doesn't even deserve to be on the show. You've got to get rid of all the old guys. Like what Vince did, they started pushing guys. Nobody knew who The Rock was 2 years ago. He made The Rock. Now The Rock just did Saturday Night Live. You've got to start with the young talent, talent people can relate to. Who are we trying to relate to if we've got a 50 year old man out there? Are we trying to relate, so a 50 year people and above will go out and buy a f*cking little toy? That ain't gonna happen. It's a f*cking joke.

Does it remind you of any show in particular?

So, from my understanding, it's a bad thing when someone gets hurt...unless they have poor workrate, in which case they can go and break their neck for all we care. Got it.

Actually, this will probably lead to the Billy Gunn coming back from the brink of retirement singles push.

No. It's a bad thing when someone gets hurt... unless they're a dirty, rotten politician who only cares about themselves and couldn't give two craps about the business. Then I HOPE they go out there and break their necks. Hope I cleared that up for ya'.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. I guess I just don't understand the business as well as other folks.

And to think that Billy got hurt in my own hometown of London, Ontario. If Gunn becomes a road agent, methinks he might not be in charge of booking our next WWE house show.

Didn't the Undertaker job to Brock fairly conclusively?

I'd be sad to hear that Billy Gunn would be finished by the injury. The "wedding" was my highlight of 2002. I was hoping he'd return in the same role or perhaps as the "Mr.Ass" character.

Ass Man = BEST SONG EVER

I know I`ve mentioned on here before that my friends and I have found Billy Gunn the source of humor for years now. The Ass Man gimmick, the name "Monty Sopp"...not really due to his ringwork, just all that stuff is why I`m always amused by The One Ass, and I hope this isn`t the end of the road.

Damn it! This means no resolution to the Bart Gunn/Billy Gunn feud.

And to think I have been waiting patiently for 6 years now...
