I know Billy seems more like the mentor and Chuck (and they better start calling him "Chucky" like his headband soon) the mentee (is that a word?) but I definitely think that vibe is secondary to the "mutual admiration society" they've got going on.
I actually think their "ambiguous relationship" is more one of fooling around in the shower rather than anything really hardcore. That would mess up their hair, after all!

Somehow I think being one half of the Ambiguously Gay Duo is going to result in Billy Gunn getting his 9th Tag Title Reign... which seems so wrong on so many levels. 
Then again, Foley was also an 8-time Tag Champ.

1) they weren't over

they issued a press release that is no longer on their website (i checked). their main beef with wcw was that the characters were heels and they felt the crowd was encouraged to call them faggots. rather than tweak the angle (or give the crowd an inoffensive name to call them) wcw, home of the international object, nixed the angle.
i wrote a slash article on this. it's in the archives somewhere.

I thought they were Internet darlings because they were pretty damn funny, did some nice little skits like coming or getting out of a closet (dont recall) and massages, and Lodi's signs ruled.
I believe after they changed the story around and they were brothers they stuck around for a bit (with Ms. Hancock even??) but it wasn't the same. They were just two jobbers again..So the 'magic' was in the angle, not the guys.

when wcw yanked lenny and lodi off tv, they also yanked the cruiserweight belt off lenny. psichosis just popped up with it the next week, without its cute purple ribbons.
the phantom title change bumps them up a couple levels from funaki. :)
