Surely he's too young to pass away already, right?

Not a knock on you specifically, Stagger, but when did "hospitalized" become a synonym for "about to die"? Isn't a hospital where you want to be if and when you get chest pains?

Well, chest pains typically indicate cardiac involvement. So, it's relatively possible that death might be an outcome.

StaggerLee - Try not to get too excited.

Stent installs are almost out-patient procedures, and I think the hospital stay has more to do with watching the patient's reaction to the blood thinners than the procedure itself.

My father had a stent put in about six months ago, and he was at full strength within a few weeks (although he probably milked it for about a week longer just to drive my mother nuts).

Now he should quit eating all that fried food and mix in a salad once in a while.

The heart is a strange thing. Douglas Adams exercised all the time, and dropped dead of a heart attack at the age of 49 (while exercising). Dick Chaney had his first heart attack at the age of 37. By that measure Clinton is plenty old enough. I think most of the time people are ok if it's caught early enough, so we'll see.

I don't remember where I read it, but ~60% of ER visits deal with chest pains, and ~80% of those end up having nothing to do with the heart.

Actually, he's really improved in those areas, and doctors said his diet and exercise were "excellent" since his original operation. http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/02/11/bill.clinton/index.html

(I'm sure several people are thinking...there goes Peter, defending Democrats again!)

He is like alot of us. He is genetically predisposed to these problems. The real bitch of diseases like cancer is that you can do absolutely everything right and drop deat at 30 or get lung cancer never being near smoke. Or you can be a chain smoker who eats fried chicken and McDonald's fries three times a day and live to be 90.

You've got to do the healthy stuff but like in many things your parents have the last word.

That summed up my dad's mother (with a glass of buttermilk a day) and she lived to about one month shy of her 100th birthday. All the people on my dad's side who didn't die of accidents, lived very long lives (70+) while my mother's side, most died before their 70th.

Good lord, what sort of accident could cause a fatality in a HUMMER? Those things are built like friggin' tanks... sheesh. That's pretty fucked up, my thoughts go to the guy's family and friends.
