NO, not the ladies of Wienerville (we're just as good though), but the women's division of WWE. I've been scoping out some japanese stuff for a while, but I haven't forgotten about our women. I was flipping past Iron Chef last night, and I just happened to catch the beginning of Trish/Molly. I watched the whole thing, and it was excellent. I don't give Trish enough credit, and Molly's always good herself. That match was even tighter than I ever remember seeing in a women's match. The best part was when Trish did the stand on her head/headscissors thing, but Molly reversed it into a pin. Sweet! See, I still root for the USA! Anyway, I know not too many of you watch Heat, or most of you forget that it's on, but that match was so good, I cheered for Trish... then Molly, then Trish again. Anyway, it'll be a sleeper when the year's said and done, but I tip my hat to Trish, Molly, and Mr. Fit Finlay. What did you guys think?
I watched Heat last night and that was a pretty good match. Not "a pretty good Women's match", it was a pretty good match, period. They're a lot smoother in the ring then quite a number of male wrestlers with similar experience.
I'm thinking that with Lita coming back soon, they may be setting up a heel turn for Trish down the line? Perhaps a jealousy angle where Trish was busting her ass for all these months then Lita comes back and gets all the spotlight?
I was watching WrestleMania X8 the other day on DVD and it got me worried about how much the match quality in the division will drop off with Lita back in it.
Hurricane's little match with Michael Shane was pretty good too. Shane needs to work on his look a little but I could see him in WWE in the future. I'm surprised NWATNA hasn't used him yet.
That match was awesome. Simply awesome. The women just keep getting better and better. -
What else was great about that match? No cheesy backstage acting. No LOOOOOOONG pointless promos. No "junk in the trunk" BS. The went out, and put on a great match (brutal at times, too, I thought), without focusing on T and A.
More of that please. I'd GLADLY sacrifice ten minutes of boring promo time each Monday to get more matches like that.
If I were them, I'd stay away from a Trish heel turn. Not that I think she'd be bad at it, but like Austin's turn, I don't think the crowds would exactly eat it up. She's one of those people that the crowd just wants to cheer for.
it was a good match indeed. I know alot of people out there say the women's division is a joke and will never take off, and though I don't think it'll ever reach the same importance as let's say the heavyweight division and two great guys fighting over the world title, I think the girls have gained alot of respect from the fans. More and more we hear less and softer "WE WANT PUPPIES" chants and actually start hearing fans getting into the matches "ohh"-ing and "ahh"-ing with the big moves.
I've been calling for a Trish heel turn for awhile and I think there's a better chance it is going to happen soon (she'll probably be jealous of Ivory) To make it effective, they have to make Trish really vicious, like Kevin Sullivan-sadistic, or team her up with some other female for a women's version of Evolution. I like the idea of her and Victoria together.
I agree though that it does have its drawbacks. Trish *has* been the most over female face in years, perhaps ever, so turning her heel may not be a totally wise thing to do. But I never really got to see her much in her heel Trish vs. Lita days, so I think it would be interesting.

I always kind of liked heel Trish. And honestly, as long as they don't make her a TOTAL slut at the same time, just an utter egotist, it would work.
Maybe she could just join Evolution? No one said it had to be all men, or only four... And Trish in the "Ultimate-in-woman" gimmick would be awesome.
And it would be great to see a good women's wrestling feud outside the normal feud for the belt. Lita and Trish would be a good way to start...
I don't mean this in a dickish way at all, Ringmistress, but it would be amazing if you could go one post without mentioning your courtship with japanese wrestling. You seem to work it into every single post, even if unrelated =)~
ALRIGHT PEOPLE, LISTEN UP! I have to agree with RM, that match was grrrrrreat! Of course I'm partial to Women and Cruisers, but it was still a great wrestling match. I love Molly so much, not only is she a great wrestler, i love her look and attitude. BTW, I don't think we'll see a Trish heel turn because (semi-spoiler)...........................................................................................................................
Her DVD is coming out in October, with Ric Flair's DVD following in Novwember. (a brock DVD is already in the works for September.) I just got the Shawn Michaels today (it hits stores tommorow) so I'll be watching some of it tonight before Raw (it's 6 hours on 2 discs.)

I like that idea. Do you really think they would let Flair put the Figure Four on Ivory though? (Actually, have Trish do it while Flair dances around.)

Trish getting a DVD? Wow, just I've been praying for. [end sarcasm]
Well, I've certainly got money set aside for the HBK DVD. Oh the yumminess of it all. And great matches too! Thank you WWE, if you managed not to screw this up(read: NWO Back in Black).
I have to concur with the one person about women's wrestling. Its overrated here, I find it to be terribly sloppy. Molly and Jazz can work smoothly when given the time, but the others look like they're still very much in training(or should be). Maybe I'm holding my standards too high for them. I think Gail Kim might be worth a look though.
Irregardless, I find Trish and Brock getting DVDs to be highly laughable. And yet, still nothing for E & C. And what about Benoit or Guerrero?
Ah well.
(edited by darkmatcher on 23.6.03 1627) what you say
That match was great. My favorite spot of the match/night was Molly doing the backflips to the corner and Trish countering it by in one motion jumping on her shoulders and doing a victory roll. They were in there for 5 minutes and were going hard, no wasted movement at all. Great work. Trish's attire was interesting LoL. She looked great, just don't know if it's good wrestling attire, oh well... PoolBoy I agree, the Trish/Molly feud could have been great. Might even be better then Trish/Victoria. Trish/Molly in ring was very good, but the storyline was bull. They had babyface Trish calling Molly fat making Trish seem like a jerk and heel Molly into somewhat of a sympathetic character. They should have gone in the direction they teased for one week of Molly saying "finally we have a real women WRESTLING champion" when Molly gets the title and have Trish trying to prove herself and show Molly what type competitor she is
The comment of "Trish hasn't been herself since losing the title" was interesting (even though she won her last two matches on Raw, even if it is with Ivory getting the pinfall for the babyface tag team), certainly sounds like she's going to change direction in her character... It's kind of risky, she's been a real good top face. She has the ability to be popular but not overshadow her opponents, therefore her opponents take some of her spotlight and shine it on themselves. She's really good at giving the rub to her opponent if it's a mainstream wrestling rookie like Victoria or a credible signee like Jazz or even a talented vet like Molly who never was made to look as strong as she did with the Trish feud.
I don't mind Trish going heel, one thing that is more important is that she stays a strong female character and not go backwards to the characters she was in the beginning of her career. She's evolved too much to go backwards. Speaking of that, PoolBoys Evolution idea sounds good. Who has evolved more as a performer in the last 3 years then Trish. There's a tie-in there. If Trish starts buying petit white dress shirts and female sport jacket then that's a sign of her joining the group. The more I think of it the more I think she'll fit in great... As for other heels I'd like to see her with, I've always liked seeing her & Jericho together especially after watching their performance on the Muchmusic awards last night. They look real cool together. If Jericho's too big of a star to have a diva with him, then I'd like to see Trish with Christian, they both can act like self-absorbed egomaniacs together.
Sunday/Stevie Night Heat was a good show overall last night. The Stevie/Goldust match was very entertaining. Goldust antics, plus Victoria's nervous twitches outside the ring and Stevie reacting to all of it made if for a fun match. Plus some decent in ring work. Hurricane match was good, even if it was against an indy guy, there was some good stuff in that match... The only part of the show that wasn't good was Val vs. Rosey in the opener, with a real bad looking German by Val on Rosey. (Memo to Val: You're not Brock). Like I said SNH was good, and the last half hour with Trish/Molly and Stevie/Goldust promo and match was as fun a half hour of wrestling.

I'll crush all opposition to me And I'll make Ted Kennedy pay If he fights back, I'll say that he's gay
I'll agree one more time then shut up. If Trish joined Evolution, she would not be the eye-candy standing in the ring clapping like the NWO women. Even if she is "just" Trish Stratus, and she's in the ring with HHH and Ric Flair. She needs to stand there as a legitimate bad-ass who is worthy of being a relative equal with everyone in the group. She can still be sexy, she just needs a tough appearance too. They should really push her as the prime example of the "new breed" of women's wrestling. Sable could have had that title but lost it when she left. I think it's time to give it to Trish if they turn her heel.

Trish and Molly have really good chemistry together. I remember when Molly first debuted she wrestled Trish back when Trish wasn't a full time wrestler. They had one hell of a match.
Trish is one of the best women workers in the WWE. She can have great matches with just about anyone. I'm real interested to see what Gail Kim brings to the table.
And as for you....

They should do something with heat or cancel it. It's a waste of TV time.
I know this is just a stupid tactic to gain heat around here, but seriously, you have to be smoking crack to think that match sucked. What would you rather have had? Rob Van Dam coming out and doing his REALLY COOL pointing to himself routine?
The Hardcore belt will always hold a special place in my memories. The day they awarded Foley with the belt was at a Dallas RAW. The next day, Foley was set to appear at a local mall (Vista Ridge in Lewisville, TX).
