"Watch what I say, the 40 man royal rumble match will be over analyzed by many. Gives 10 more paydays & adds 'biggest ever' mkt'ing hook."
"Bitching, moaning & complaining re: 40 man RRumble match underway. When has there EVER been more than appx 10 potential, viable winners?"
And I get what he's saying there. Maybe a few more people will buy the show simply because it's 'the biggest Rumble ever'. I don't really see this as a negative unless, as John Orquiola says, they do that crappy 1-minute entry time thing.
Having another 10 guys in there is not that big a deal as far as the match quality is concerned. It's a souped up version of a battle royal we're talking about here. The match has always been 99% brawling. | Moss

RACIST!
Ahem. I think it's dumb to do something just for the sake of doing it, so I'm generally against it. But I don't think it harms the Rumble mystique as much as, say, Vince winning it. It was bad enough he brawled all over the arena and wasn't even in the ring for most of it, which smacked of Russo-booking. But it was mainly offensive because he's Vince, a non-athlete and looks bad doing everything. I still ignore that when I think of Rumble winners, like I ignore Clooney as Batman. I also don't consider Drew Carey one of the 656 superstars who have competed. And the double Elimination Chambers also make the Rumble more or less pointless, because you beat "twenty-nine other men" or this year, thirty-nine, and then five of them get a shot at the title a month before you do.
Oh well, it's still a match that almost can't suck ever. Should be fun.

He's perfect for SmackDown. He's always been perfect for SmackDown. And when he picks up the ringside steps, Michael Cole can again claim they weigh 300 pounds.

My concern is that he'd get a huge pop at the Rumble and the WWE would sign him to a long-term contract based on that. | | Pages: Prev 1 2 3 Next
