People help me out. Which is the best WCW pay per view ever?.. I wanna buy a couple of vhs/dvds for my collection and as you all know there weren't many good wcw pay per views.
So help me out here. Would like to hear your comments.
I think its a sad case of revisionist history that perpetuates the notion that there weren't very many good WCW PPVs. A tremendous portion of wrestling history is being flushed down the toilet.
Spring Stampede 1999 Souled Out 1998 Bash at the Beach 1996, which was a pretty solid card as well as historically major WrestleWar 1992, featuring arguably the best WarGames ever (Sting's Squadron vs. the Dangerous Alliance)
Adding to what's already been said, SuperBrawl II. Other than that I can't really think of anything which is not a shot at WCW PPVs so much as a shot at me being forgetful of them.
Halloween Havoc 99 seems to stick in my mind- partly because if you take it as a standalone card and ignore the rubbish that followed it regarding the world title, you've got a good card, you get:
-Goldberg turning Sid into a bloody pulp in a good squash match. -Flair vs DDP in a strap match was pretty good. -Sting & Goldberg in an entertaining world title match -Hogan walking out and not wrestling!
I'd also say Souled Out 1998 is a good one. Hart vs Flair and Benoit vs Raven are great bouts.
BTW For anyone who lives in the UK, get down to woolworths and root around in the video sale they have on- I've picked up lots of WCW PPV's for under two quid.

What he said. Hands down the best WCW ppv ever. The Flair-Funk match was 100 times better than the one they have on the DVD, plus there's great stuff with Muta Vs. Sting and Steamboat Vs. Luger. A must see if you can get your hands on it.
SuperBrawl 1 was kind of goofy, but the tag team match with Sting and Luger Vs. The Steiner Brothers alone makes it worth watching.
Finally, I'd recommended Beach Bash (if, indeed, that was what it was called; I may be confusing it with UWF's ill-fated PPV, which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy)... anyways, if that tape is the one with Steamboat-Rude and Foley-Sting on it, you have the right one. If it has Steve Williams, Paul Orndorff and The Power Twins, drop the tape and run away as fast as you can....
Beach Blast is the name of the PPV you're looking for - that was the summer event for WCW in '92 and '93, then they sort of "merged" that PPV with the Great American Bash to create "Bash At The Beach" in '94.
'92 also has a REALLY cool Brian Pillman v. Scotty Flamingo match, which is oodles of fun, and '93 has the Dustin v. Rude Ironman Challenge and a fun tag title match with the Blondes and Arn/Roma.
For some reason, I can never pronounce it without saying "Beach Blash".
There were a ton of great WCW PPVs in 1992, both as far as wrestling and storyline goes. The Dangerous Alliance and Vader were both very strong heels to go up against Sting and Ricky Steamboat, and many classic matches happened as a result.
1996 was another good year. Probably their most solid year overall in terms of quality. It started out looking like an 80s rehash when Liz arrived at the January Clash, but then they switched things up with her going heel in February and started turning things upside-down all leading up to the nWo arrival and Hogan's heel turn. They took the George Costanza "opposites" approach in '96, and it put them on the map.
The three summer PPVs WCW had (Great American Bash/Bash at the Beach/even Hog Wild) were really good and helped to build the nWo storyline into one of the best ones WCW ever had. People can say what they want about how crappy the Hogan/Piper match was, but the story was still strong, and everything up to that point was very solid.
Things started to go downhill in 1997, despite very strong undercard wrestling, when they held off Sting's in-ring return until the end of the year and failed to deliver a payoff. It was pretty much all stalling and was full of crappy insignificant main events like DDP vs Randy Savage that did nothing to advance the main storylines.
Sadly, I don't think we ever saw the full potential of WCW ever realized in one PPV. I can't think of their equal to "WrestleMania III," because they never seemed to focus on one event and instead stalled for Nitro the next night. Great American Bash '89, I consider NWA despite having the same roster.
As far as the best PPV goes, SuperBrawl II is up there for booking. It's too bad WCW was too small at the time to make it any bigger. The dual header of Sting/Luger and Rude/Steamboat was really good.
But, it's hard to say. They had so much potential and never fully realized it.
EDIT: Beach Blast '92 was a great PPV with an incredible Sting/Cactus match.

Anderson-Eaton on that show is strong and Flair-Fujinami is pretty alright. The show picks up well for the final three matches but everything before it is pretty bad. Actually the US tag titles match is okay. Sid-Gigante is a fun visual because Sid is so tiny.
Superbrawl from '96 might not have been an overall great PPV, but it had Flair vs. Savage in a cage, in what could reasonably be argued was the last 'great' match for both wrestlers. Of course, you can never go wrong with Great American Bash '91. That is, if you like seeing an implosion occur before your eyes.
I've always been partial to Fall Brawl '96. Got it in right now, matter of fact. In addition to the very cool NWO vs. WCW War Games (including NWO Sting), it also has Benoit and Jericho in a great match that reminds me just why I miss WCW. To be honest, the rest is forgettable, but it's one of those tapes I can just have on in the background while working or reading and it just sorta makes me smile.
Oh, and NO ONE beats Dusty Rhodes on commentary except perhaps Stevie Ray!
Halloween Havoc 98, this actually had quite a few interesting matches on it- Goldberg vs. DDP for the world title, actually a pretty good match for both these guys. Juvi vs. Disco Inferno Disco Inferno vs. Kidman for the CW title Sting vs. Bret Hart for the US title Rick Steiner vs. Scott Steiner Chris Jericho vs. Raven for the TV title, great opening match at about ONLY 7 minutes!
Spring Stampede 1994, Flair vs. Steamboat! Rick Rude vs. Sting! Cactus Jack and Maxx Payne vs. The Nasty Boys Stunning Steve Austin vs. The Great Muta
Slamboree 1994 Sting vs. Vader Stunning Steve vs. Johnny B. Badd Larry Zbysko vs. Steven Regal Sullivan and Cactus Jack vs. The Nasty Boys (Cactus wins his first and only WCW title) Tully Blanchard vs. Terry Funk Ric Flair vs. Barry Windham
Superbrawl 8 and Uncensored 98 were also great ppv's for WCW. Main events not so hot, but overall great shows.

I donīt know if my opinion would change if I had the chance to review those PPVs today, but back then I liked:
-The Clash of the champions leading to Beach Blast 93 (Vader vs. Bulldog, Cactus Jackīs comeback, Flair/Sting squashing two fat jobbers, Rude/Equalizer vs.Dustin/Animal, Steamboat vs. Orndorff, Austin/Regal vs. AA/Roma)
-Starrcade 97 (The best WCW PPV build up ever for Hogan vs. Sting)
-Souled out 98
I also liked the Battle Bowl concept (wildcard tag team matches - winners go on to Battle Bowl), but sadly they never really handled it well...
