F4Wonline.com reports that WWE has sent out a memo stating that Chris Benoit footage will be allowed on broadcasts that take place on the WWE network. There will however be an advisory played before every show he appears on.

What kind of "advisory" would be appropriate? Is one even needed?

"This guy murdered his innocent wife and child, ignore the cheers for him and imagine they are the scream of the damned where he currently resides in the deepest pit of hell."

Maybe a bit too strong. This was going to happen, so they might as well deal with it.

They should just donate cash to a domestic violence charity for each Benoit episode aired and be done with it. The kind of person thats going to be subscribing to the network likely has, and watches, Benoit footage in their private collection.

I have no idea how wrestling royalties work, but I'm sure that his surviving kin wouldn't be opposed to getting a few checks, either.

I think WWE should use the exact same parental advisory warning that the NFL does before they show OJ Simpson footage.

"Due to our strong personal convictions, we wish to stress that this footage in no way endorses a belief in the occult." - WWE

Also, it's good to hear that it'll be on there. It's archive footage and his contributions in the ring are a part of their history. Obviously, it's not something to plaster all over advertising as a selling point of the network, but I'd rather see my old RAWs uncut, and uncooked.

Is there a similar disclaimer already on that "RAW 20" set? I know Benoit's on at least one of the episodes they included.

(Did anybody buy this set yet?)

Even if people out there complain and raise hell about this, I'm sure Vince believes in the old saying that 'any press is good press' for his WWE Network.

Exactly.

While I don't think WWE should feature Benoit, they should show matches of his that progress another performer's story - so if they need to show Orton's feud with him over the title that makes sense.

They actually edit out his segments on the shows he's in on that one, if the Amazon reviews are to be believed.

I believe he is being tongue and cheek, I hope. Again, this was going to happen. Benoit is too big of a star to being ignored especially if they are going to re-run the episodes. I am not sure how they got around it on the On Demand channel, I remember a lot of quick edits. I am not a fan of giving this guy any attention what so ever, but he is too big.

Now, will this get him in the HOF. No. It shouldn't. Even Austin said he shouldn't be in the HOF which is good enough for me. It is also going to be a minus for any investors in this new Network. Maybe, the whole controversy creates cash idea is good for the WWE or they faced the fact that editing entire shows and PPVS was too much expense.

I have. No disclaimer written. Edits include no Benoit entrances shown and commentary edited whenever he's in a match.

The NFL has one? How is it presented?

(I'm surprised because I watch a lot of NFL Films features on the NFL Network.)

Sorry for explaining the joke, but...

There isn't one on NFL Films. Much like there shouldn't be one here. What a player/performer did on the field/in the ring has no correlation with what he did off/out of it.

So his matches are shown, but they skip his entrances and edit out all mentions of his name in commentary? That's so weird.

I agree 100%, but I think they're afraid of giving certain media types any room to use footage/mentions of Benoit as an excuse to bash WWE for promoting & profiting from a murderer, dragging up "roid-rage" rumors & innuendo, etc.

DISCLAIMERS:

Yes, I realize the NFL doesnt do that to OJ, but they did back in the 90's when all the OJ stuff happened. Plus OJ's career has been done & gone for 20 years by the time the murders in his case happened, so it's different. In a few more years, WWE can probably stop editing Benoit footage all together, but not yet.

Yes, I also realize that it would be silly for someone to bring up the Benoit murders and try to use them against WWE today, but I dont put it above the media for trying to anyway and I dont blame WWE for trying to prevent such a thing from happening.

Those are the lyrics to Chris Benoit's song and, I suppose, a reference to the "free Benoit" weirdos.

I'll admit I almost never watch the NFL Network, but I can't imagine they show OJ Simpson footage very often. Not just because of the murder, but because OJ Simpson is hardly relevant to anything football-related anymore.

I took the editing to mean that they probably took out a lot of references to being a "killer" and such, but maybe I am wrong.

I was a pretty big Benoit fan, and I still don't find his matches all that enjoyable anymore. They are technically still sound, but watching this angry little roided out man isn't as fun as it used to be.

On a side note I just noticed Bryan using the diving headbutt, is that new(er)? He's got the crossface, are the suplexes next?
