Marvin Lewis to return to Cincinnati Bengals for another season
Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis has re-signed as head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals, the team announced Tuesday.
Lewis met with Bengals ownership Tuesday and resolved issues that would keep him around. Terms of his new contract weren't immediately available.
The Bengals have schedule a 4:30 p.m. ET press conference.
I'm stunned by this. Aside from a pair of playoff appearances, Marvin Lewis has been a dud. Why bring him back, unless you're putting the blame for the 4-12 record solely on the T.Ocho tandem?

He wanted a good practice facility and more money put into the scouting; those things can get you more wins than a coach that knows when to make a challenge.

You are so naive.
Originally posted by Paul Daugherty, Cincinnati Enquirer Lewis simply sold his soul. All the substantive, off-the-record talks he has had with various media, locally and nationally, about the changes he needed to compete with Baltimore and Pittsburgh, went by the wayside. No personnel department, no bubble, nothing said yesterday that would indicate any changes, beyond the sacrificial lopping of an assistant coach or two. Way to stick to your guns, coach.

But when those are your *only* playoff appearances in two decades....
When standards are low, continued employment comes much more easily. |
