I thought Beckham was the entire point that Man U was going to tour the states...
"I'm going to fill a dark awful basement with radioactive cockroaches. Yep. Big nasty ones like skateboards on legs, that go click-click-click when they walk. And maybe poisonous. I'm going to starve them for a week.
Then I'm going to catch all the coercive priss-spigots in the world, the ones that want to ban second-hand smoke and dwarf-tossing and beer. I'll smear the rascals with bacon fat, so the roaches won't know what they're eating, as otherwise they might not.
Then I'm going to toss all those greased busybodies into the basement. And whoop. And dance. Ha." - Fred Reed
Okay, how freaking scary is Real going to be once FIFA 2004 comes out next year? Also, anyone with more soccer knowledge than I know how much stock to put in the rumors of Man U going after Ronaldinho?

The rumours been flying around pretty much since his shot hit the back of the net against England in the 2002 World Cup.
It had been considered a sure fire certainty until, somewhat ironically, Beckham signed for Real.
Y'see the guy who just took over as president at Barcelona got voted in largely because he had an agreement with Man U for the sale of Beckham, which he did. Beckham however wasn't too chuffed at being used as a 'political pawn' by Barca (and also probably fancied Real better for guaranteed Champions League football) so as you know he went there instead.
This meant that not only did Barca lose out on their star signing target, they did so to Real. And Barcelona fans arent too crash hot on Real. They pretty much hate them.
The upshot of all this is that Barcelona need to somebody to appease the fans, and need someone quick. Rumour has it target number 2 is Ronaldinho (a better player IMO) and they should be pretty much willing to throw anything at him to make him come. On the other hand Utd aren't short of a bob or 2 and probably wont run scared if a bidding war ensues.
I am surprised Beckham went before touring the US as he had indicated a desire to become big over there, but I dont suppose playing for Real will dent his drawing power over there too much.
Of far more interest to me regarding Man U is the news that they signed a goalkeeper with Tourettes. Should be interesting to find out what the over/under on him getting sent off for dissent is ;)
Now the question is who will change positions, Beckham or Luis Figo?
Over 1400 posts and still never a Wiener of the Day!
Well you're in your little room and you're working on something good but if it's really good you're gonna need a bigger room and when you're in the bigger room you might not know what to do you might have to think of how you got started in your little room da da da
I very much enjoy arena football and have for many many years. Unfortunately I didn't espn2 and didn't get to watch much for quite a few years. Over the last few, I've seen games on the deuce, as well as TNN and am looking forward to NBC's coverage.
