Bea Arthur, 86. (ctv.ca)

I can admit to enjoying THE GOLDEN GIRLS show when it was on TV years ago. Her wit (and at the same time, patience with Rose) made for a great character.

Hard to believe that she was older than Estelle Getty, who played her mother. Wow.

Of course, she had that song and dance routine in the Star Wars Holiday special, too.

RIP, Bea...thanks for the memories.

Maude was a really great show, too. And she was great as the Femputer on Futurama. And on that one episode of Malcolm In The Middle where she lip-synched "Fernando" with the youngest kid. The roast of Pamela Anderson where she read excerpts from her book. And pretty much everything else she ever did.

RIP Bea - I loved you way more than a 29 year old heterosexual male should.

34 years old, and I concur.

Betty White is going to bury them all. She may bury us all.

Same here ... I'm not ashamed to admit that I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Golden Girls ... brings back memories of watching it as a kid with my folks.

I'm going to miss that woman. She was to Hollywood what Moolah was to wrestling. And with "The Golden Girls", I think she helped to prove that if the show is well-written and well-performed, it can cross demographic lines and amuse everyone.

Right on, Maude.

I loved her. She was in a class all to herself. There are not many women who comedically can hold a candle to her. Her timing was spot on. Rest in peace Bea. You will be sorely missed.

Another 20something male here, and another Bea Arthur/Golden Girls fan. I knew she was around the same age as Estelle Getty but I didn't realize she was pushing 90. Wow. She will be missed, but luckily it isn't too hard to get my Golden Girls fix everyday.

Another one who loves watching 'The Golden Girls' on Lifetime when I was younger. She also was great to watch in 'All In The Family': her fighting with Archie Bunker was some of the best back-and-forth comedic banter I ever saw on TV. Definitely one of the all time great comedic actresses on TV. RIP

I can think of two women who mastered deadpan comedy: Madeline Kahn and Bea Arthur. And they're both gone.

"God will get you for that, Walter" is STILL funny.

Two sports radio connections to Bea Arthur:

1. The infamous "Bea Arthur joke" told by Rich Eisen on Mr Tony's Internet show.

2. Voice of "Femputer" from Futurama, a clip of which is a favorite drop of Steve Czaban.
