The ladies of RAW have really earned my respect, especially Trish Stratus. She could've easily been just T & A like most, but she's not like most. With her leading the way, the women's division on Raw has become a highlight, little by little adding credibility to the virtually non-existant US women's wrestling scene. Just when we think that things finally look promising....

Eh. I suppose we'll only have to put up with this for about a month or two. Then comes bankruptcy, and all is right with the world again!

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I would assume one of two things to happen: 1) Plans fall through, the show never see the light of day or 2) The show is a complete failure and no one watches it. With no one watching, the rep of women's wrestling built by Stratus and co. can't really be tarnished.

I heard about that. They're also trying to resurrect GLOW again with an upcoming show on September 11th at the El Rey Theater here in LA:

I wouldn't worry about it either. I'm sure even Japan has a website advertising shitty matches somewhere on the net.

I can't see a site like that leading to anything but the toilet in terms of monetary intake.

Is David Maclean involved in the new GLOW? If so, you'd think he'd have the sense not to run a wrestling show on September 11th, of all days.

Hey, Ivory came out of GLOW, so at least we can't say they've never ever done anything good.

Would I get punched if I mentioned that I refused to watch ECW for over 2 years because the first time I saw it, I thought it was a male version of GLOW?

I'd agree with you if you were refering to the last 2 years of the promotion's existence. A bunch of goofs doing nothing but nonsensical garbagy brawls with a handful of talented wrestlers curtain-jerking.

In late April/early May there were some signs on lamp poles in Philly advertising GLOW, I figured it was all some sick joke.....

No, but If you elaborate, it would be nice. Glow=ECW, that would make for an interesting post.

G.L.O.W wasn't all that bad, I remember Big Mamma led Al Bundy to a five star match in Las Vegas. She also had the E.A.T. storyline when she was going up against the Farmers Daughters, it was a parody of the movie E.T. She marched around in a daze chanting 'phone home E.A.T'. Until finally, one of the Farmers Daughters figured it out. Get it E.A.T spells EAT! And she was fat! Arrrgghhh, I give it three weeks.

A friend of mine brought an ECW tape over to someone's house. I missed all but the last match because I was in another room doing something. I came in for the main event which was Terry Funk vs. (I THINK) Raven in an I Quit match. The match was won when Funk latched a pair of vicegrips onto his opponents testicles. At the time, it just seemed like the fakest thing I'd ever seen in wrestling since GLOW and I thought it was a comedy fed that didn't actually even TRY to make the matches look realistic.

If it was Philly, it might have been GLOOW. The Gorgeous Ladies of Outrageous Wrestling, which was based in that neck of the woods.

The website was down when I checked it just a minute or so ago, but, rest assured, it had all the charm of an obscene christmas card.

Yeah, I recall seeing GLOOW posters around Philly and checking their site out of curiosity. Purely out of curiosity, I assure you. Really. Half the matches listed in an upcoming card were "oil matches" and one of their top performers, who used a military gimmick, was called GI Ho. I think it's safe to say they weren't/aren't the American answer to ARSION.

"I do have a degree in electrical engineering... from almost 20 years ago. Punchcard systems were just becoming obsolete, we had rotary phones in the dorms, and a modem was still a gizmo the size of a shoebox into which you squooshed the phone receiver itself. In short, we lived like animals.

The instant obsolesence is why I became a writer. The rate of punctuation in a sentence doesn't double every 18 friggin' months, and you never have some 22-year-old looming over your shoulder, shaking his head, saying "dude... you're still using adverbs...?"

Just to shed some light, GLOOW is now DWOW (Dangerous Women of Wrestling). They had the Wednesday at midnight slot on WGTW (ch. 18 on cable) earlier this year, and they say that they are coming back in the fall.

I went to a GLOOW show back in the day, and found it to be a fun experience. The TV show, however, sucks balls. It copies the late era ECW shows by putting Metallica songs over long blocks of advertising for upcoming shows and appearances. (How's that for the ECW-GLOW-GLOOW-DWOW connection?)

By the way, David McClane will assuredly not be part of the new GLOW. Ursula Hayden bought the rights to the name and did nothing with it for a good long time (other than hawk videos of the old GLOW shows on her website). I guess she is finally going to attempt the resurrection.

Bad timing and bad gimmicks will kill this attempt faster than WOW's demise. Although...Hollywood is pretty damn hot nowadays, so I might have to check the PPV out.

Molly, Stacy and Daffney all in WWE? I suddenly lost all my will to complain about anything regarding the WWE. Hope I don't lose my street cred for this.

I have a feeling that their target audience is not wrestling fans but random people who go anywhere there might be a "scene" happening. that's what most of the crowd at Lucha Vavoom was like (and Hijo de Santo wreslted!)
Especially the way it's being billed as a "comedy Show" with a "cast of characters." If most of the good WOW wrestlers were going to be there, I might be tempted to check it out, but not without a card and at those prices.

If you think that may be bad, check out http://www.wextremew.com/. They play an ad for this during nearly every commercial break of the MLW show. The commercial always shills their monthly pay-per-view. This organization definitely doesn't sell itself as "comedy".

I believe the point of these shows is (or was) that it was catered toward the younger crowd who can't stay up late enough for RAW. Since it's on Saturday Morning's (at least where I am), it is around the time that kids watch their cartoons and whatnot.
