| #1 Posted on 30.1.03 1106.59 | So Batman is all set to fight Superman (again)... I know Batman has historically always won this fight, but it may actually look bad for him this time, since he has no time to "prepare." But underneath all of that, in my opinion, was the more important plot with Catwoman- I mean damn, one kiss and Batman is totally distracted all issue, which made me ask the question- has Batman ever actually been in love before? I know Bruce Wayne has had his "trysts," and there was always Talia, but these always seemed like things that the women were far more interested in than Bruce/Batman. Along those lines, what is up with Batman and his newfound need to form relationships? During the Murderer/Fugitive storyline, Batman cut everyone off. Now he has mended ways with Alfred, with Robin as well, adopted Nightwing, made contact with an old childhood friend, actually BELIEVED and seemed to LIKE the idea that Bane was his brother, showed some caring (or tough love, I suppose) to Spoiler by refusing to train her anymore, but still giving her a chance to prove herself. Hell, he has even been more respectfful of the HUntress (but then again, she did save his ass...) And now this deal with Selina. What is up with Batman's need for love lately?

Maybe DC has finally decided that after 50 years or so of Robo-Vigilante they should give him, y'know, a personality. I was kinda hoping that Sasha would've been the one to finally get him to show emotion before Rucka left 'Tec though... | Freeway

I remember Bats showing lots of emotion when Sasha left him to join Checkmate. He seemed to have fallen hard for her. Hell, she stood by him, in prison, while he was off trying to clear the name of Bruce Wayne. I think the Bat-writers in the family of books have been trying to examine the toll of being Batman. I think he's just exhausted. If the Murderer/Fugitive storylines accomplished anything, it's that in some small way, Batman needs to be Bruce Wayne, and for more than just a cover or for the resources the fortune provides. It looks to me the writers think they have a new wealth of material to mine, since "The Dark Knight goes ballistic 24/7 again" seem to have run its course (seriously, did Miller's latest take in turn anybody else off?)

Yeah, if you're refering to the Brave and Bold issue. I think that was a flashback issue, as the Huntress (E-2) was introduced a few years before that.

Did he? I don't really remember the specifics of Rucka's last issue. All I recall was him not doing anything about her imprisonment until after she "died"...

The better question is, did anybody else like it? Everyone I've talked to agrees that it was a total piece of shit. | Cerebus

While I saw it coming a mile away, the bit with Robin was funny as shit, and how can ANYONE say that trapping Palmer in a petridish isn't the meanest thing in comics of last year.

I think I have it in a collection book somewhere. Yes, it was a flashback, with old Bruce narrating the story from a year or so after Selina's death.
