Batista said then that they would steal the show at Wrestlemania, and according to most, they did just that (sure it wasn't Steamboat/Savage, but it still was great).
I wonder how Backlash will go. It seems like Big Dave and Taker will get the main event slot this time around, though that's just my opinion. I don't know if Batista still feels like they have to prove themselves again since they accomplished that at Mania.
I guess the question I have for the board at large is...will we see Big Dave of the past six months (as in unmotivated and just plain underwhelming), or will we see Wrestlemania Dave Batista? Do they care as much, since Backlash is obviously not close to Wrestlemania in terms of public exposure or crowd size?
Conversely, will the members of the Raw four way feel that they need to step up because of the prospect of another great Batista/Taker match overshadowing their efforts? Obviously every wrestler should care about putting on a good show, but there has to be some big egos and pride on the line in having the match that will be remembered on any PPV. This is especially true when we will have tri-brand PPVs every month now.
What do you all think? Will Batista and Taker get the main event slot this time? Will they have a match close to their WM levels?

I see this becoming a gimmick match to allow a wider range of potential spots. If Batista wins, they'll have a rubber match and THAT should beat both of the previous bouts.

Well, it's already a Last Man Standing Match, so I don't think they need any more gimmicks.
Unfortunately, I don't see them getting the main event slot, simply because SmackDown can't ever be shown to be bigger than Raw. They might go out there and steal the show again, but the night will end (as always) with Cena's triumph.

In that case, I don't see Taker losing. He has the zombie sit-up from the days of yore. Batista would have to bury him under something, and that would be too close to a buried alive match. Or the similar finish with Jericho and Kane.

And I don't think it's Raw prsents Backlash. All the ads I've seen are "Raw, SmackDown & ECW Presents".
To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow
