I love how the mainstream journalist are all jumping on this like this is the most SHOCKING story ever. Also cute that the credible journalist that snarl when the roided up WWE comes to town and now there own little beloved religious past time has the same stegma... It's almost like questioning the smarts of wrestling fans while NBa/NHL fan boo anthems and NFL fans get plastered during a tailgate party. (but after Oiler fan interfere in the main event of Raw maybe it's not a good time to defend Wrestling fan smarts... But then agian he had a hockey jersey)

Back to the subject. I don't know if it's as cut and dry as, Steriods bad must ban. Mark Maguire took something that was totally legal that you could buy at stores, and he was dissed hard. Is all "Muscle Builder" Bad, even if you could buy it over the counter. How about a steroid to help you recover from an injury, Percriptions of those have been given to athletes and non-athletes, I'm guessing you get a window period but for how long... Well hearing that the NFL tests players but I have noticed that in the beginning of the latest Cowboys dynasty they were making a big deal with one or 2 linemen of the Cowboys were 300 pounds now it seems that every team averages 300 pound line.

Again I find it interesting how the media picks and chooses of what's good and bad drugs. McGwire taking over the counter muscle builder is bad, dangerous, pressuring other players to have to do the same... Player taking the needle to stay in the game, or some pills to finish the season is a leader, great example of toughness, never quit legend... So one drug that Fools your body and make you bigger is bad, but the other drug that Fools your body and takes away pain is encouraged... And pain killers just as dangerous and addictive and problematic then steriods (ask Brett Farve).

I don't get it, everyone loves rats, but they don't want to drink the rats milk?

According to one of the steroid related articles I've read (I can't remember which to link or quote it) the Andro supplement that McGwire was taking was an anabolic steroid that had not been popular at the time that steroids were made illegal. It was still an anabolic steroid though - not something like taking protein powder, creatine, etc.

In another interesting note to this story, Ken Caminiti already began the backtracking on the Jim Rome Show today. Why not backtracking on his admission of steroid use, he has retracted the 50% number....

YEAH.

i love how players are dissing him and telling him that now that he's retired, he should stay out to pasture and shut up and stay out of their lives...

I honestly didn't know that MLB didn't test for roids and now i'm reading that they probably WON'T because the union says that's "invasion of privacy"

They'll finish the game. To stop in the middle of a ball game to go on strike would be the ultimate slap in the face to fans everywhere.
