Man, $126 Million for a middle relief pitcher. Here in New York, I remember a lot of Met fans chomping at the bit to get him signed and Omar Minaya got some heat for not bringing him in. I bet those fans are all breathing a huge sigh of relief now.

I don't know what Oakland knew but with Zito, Mulder and to a lesser extent Hudson all falling off on their exit...wow.

At least it only cost the Diamondbacks 22 Million to get rid of Russ Ortiz. I can't imagine how the Giants are going to get around this one if he doesn't recover in the next two years.

This is the kind of signing the Yankees can survive, or probably the Sawx.. I don't think there's another team in baseball that could miss this spectacularly on a FA. Still, Colorado eventually worked around Mike Hampton? This kills your team for about 3 years if Zito doesn't come around.

Click Here (pitch.com) There's news afoot that his extramarital activities may have had something to do with his voluntary retirement. As a longtime Royal fan, they need to do something differently.
