Man, $126 Million for a middle relief pitcher. Here in New York, I remember a lot of Met fans chomping at the bit to get him signed and Omar Minaya got some heat for not bringing him in. I bet those fans are all breathing a huge sigh of relief now.

I don't know what Oakland knew but with Zito, Mulder and to a lesser extent Hudson all falling off on their exit...wow.

I don't think there's another team in baseball that could miss this spectacularly on a FA. Still, Colorado eventually worked around Mike Hampton? This kills your team for about 3 years if Zito doesn't come around.
