*World Heavyweight Championship Match
-Benoit(c) vs. Kane
PICK: CHRIS BENOIT -- Whatever Kane is doing I'm guessing it will be with Lita, hopefully without the title. What an uneventful build to this World title match. It's more Kane & Lita crap then Benoit. But I did like this match tease on Raw

*World Tag Team Championship Match
-La Resistance(c) vs. Benoit/Edge
PICK: LA RESISTANCE -- Build more resentment between the babyfaces. Build more doubt if Benoit can win tonight

*Women's World Championship Match (4-way match)
-Victoria(c) vs. Gail vs. Lita vs. Trish
PICK: LITA -- Is it because she deserves it? Naa. Is it because it will be best for the division? Nope. It's simply so they can say "buh gawd Lita won the women championship does this mean Kane can win the Men championship". Of course doing nothing for the group and bringing the division even lower. What a waste.

*Intercontinental Championship Match
-Orton(c) vs. Benjamin
PICK: RANDY ORTON -- This was the most toss-up of the bunch. I can see it go either way, but I do think WWE likes this Orton long reign.

*Hell in a Cell
-Michaels vs. HHH
PICK: TRIPLE H -- No surprise overshadowing everything by a lot. HHH get the win to build him back to the title. I'm sure they will go all out.

-Eugene vs. Coachman
PICK: EUGENE -- Coach is undefeated but Eugene defeated Kane even if it is from DQ. He's not going to lose to Coach I don't think

-Jericho vs. Tomko
PICK: CHRIS JERICHO -- Trish has a fit because she and Tomko lost and she fires him, having Christian come back asking "You FIRED our bodyguard!". Yeah I don't believe that will happen either. Personally I'll keep an open mind on Tomko as it's his first match, I do like his look.

*It looks like a decent brand only PPV. Benoit/Kane on Raw looked like a dynamic that I'll be into (gawd leave Lita out of this). Sure HHH/HBK gets under my skin at times, but they do seem to have pride when in there together especially in a big time setting, I think they'll deliver. There is more star power in the women match, I just don't like seeing Lita in there, even if Trish is in there as well. The first setup makes more sense... Hopefully the IC title match can be better then their match in Montreal. I don't have much hope for the Tag title match. Coach is the real Mr. PPV what's up with THAT, he only does PPV's. I'm interested to see how good or bad is Tomko. My Status for getting this PPV, I'd say between Questionable and Probable(which isn't that bad)

(edited by Net Hack Slasher on 8.6.04 0045)

I'm Renegade Raine and I approve this message:

Benoit...I just can't see Kane winning it.

La Resistance, because it will start a feud between Benoit and Edge and hopefully make Edge more interesting.

It's between Victoria and Lita, there's no way Gail or Trish is winning this. But, unfortunately for everyone (except for all the teenyboppers), Lita looks like she's going to win it.

After the big beatdown on the RAW before Bad Blood, Shelton's going to win this one.

I dunno...I'll say Eugene will win, but get attacked by a disgruntled Nitro afterwards.

Sadly, I see Jericho losing via interference by Christian.

-World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit def. Kane by submission; Matt Hardy V1 distracts Kane, leading to Crossface.
-Triple H def. Shawn Michaels by pinfall in Hell In A Cell
-World Tag Team Champions La Resistance def. Edge & Chris Benoit by Conway pinfall on Edge when Benoit & Edge get into a shoving match for some reason
-Lita def. Women's Champion Victoria, Gail Kim & Trish Stratus by pinfall after ref bump. Kane enters, beats down everyone and puts Lita on top of Kim for the pin.
-Shelton Benjamin def. Intercontinental Champion Randy Orton by pinfall; Clean pin after Flair gets tossed.
-Eugene def. Jonathan Coachman by pinfall
-Chris Jericho def. Tyson Tomko by submission

I'm going against the grain on this one, I just have a sneaking suspicion...

Tomko will go over Jericho after Christian returns and schmozzes it. I saw these two fight in a cage at a house show in Spokane a few weeks ago and honestly Tomko sucks and actually looks alot like Goldberg when he's out there in his ring gear. I still think he'll go over at Bad Blood, no reason to completely bury him right off the bat.

La Rez over Edge and Benoit - the seeds for their feud will be firmly planted by the end of this one I bet! And after the celebration in Montreal last week, I see no reason is taking the straps off the rejuvenated Frenchman.

Eugene will totally kick the Coach's ass! They could go the easy route in this match, but with the WWE you've always gotta expect a swerve - they could do a million things, but in the end Eugene should end his first PPV on a good note.

Lita over the other girls - Victoria's ring entrance should automatically cause her to drop into convulsions and get pinned, but they'll protect Vic and let Lita pin Trish for the title or something.

Randy Orton will retain over Shelton - and here's why: Shelton is as over as shit, there is no reason to rip the title off Orton, a few more months with the belt and some other challengers will do him even more good. Shelton can keep being a contender and continue his other feud with Batista. You know - I'd like to see Batista vs. Orton for the title, because we all know Batista would crush him.

Triple H over HBK in the Cell - this one could really go either way, as they're friends and do great business together. I've been getting the feeling that Shawn is actually winding down and maybe this will be his last match for the time being. Screw the movies, Triple H will go over here and then it's on to continue his quest in regain the World title - who ever has it - and more than likely it will be Benoit, but...

Kane over Benoit via Lita heel-aference to win the World title Lita will reveal the secret and turn heel by helping him win - Kane and Lita can both show up on RAW with the straps, and to follow Kane's tradition of winning the World title and then losing it(Austin) to - Benoit or even Edge(cool!) will beat him on RAW. Kane can be the "Sheik" like transitional champion from one babyface to another to Edge pulls the surprise upset which would catapult right into the A club and setup a great twist on next months main event, with Benoit going in again as the contender for the title. Now's as good a time as any to kick this Edge experiment into overdrive and coming off the heels of a PPV where Kane wins the title, putting Edge over Kane on RAW would be awesomr. Edge did go over Kane at Backlash, right...I just see that whole finish as a neat way of mixing things up, putting over everyone and still letting Benoit keep his heat through it all because he didn't lose the title to Kane legally as Lita interfered. Of course Kane jobbing the title right back to Edge, opens his up to feud with Mattitude V1 and maybe, just maybe Little Jeff too.

Then again I could be all wrong...maybe Lita and Kane will both job and nothing will change. I like change. Change is good.

First, I'll gloat and say that I not only called the La Res title change in the prediction thread, but I called the women's title match as being a four-way match (although I did have Molly in there instead of Trish).

With all this karma, there's no way I can be wrong with any of these picks:

Benoit over Kane- No chance of Kane winning after such an impressive pin on Benoit last night.

HHH over HBK- HHH never loses inside the cell. HBK will bleed for our pleasure, yet Hogan's My Dad will still find a way to diss Michaels.

Jericho over Tomko- Jericho needs the win to stay in the upper echelon.

La Res over Benoit/Edge- Benoit will win the main match, so La Res win here.

Eugene over Coach- C'mon, Eugene has the strength of 10 apes! How can he lose?

Trish over all, pinning Lita- Why not? It softens the blow when Tomko loses.

Benjamin over Orton by DQ- Give Shelton most of the offense, but have Batista save the belt.

Joe Wilson (looking at Interocitor manual)- Hey, here's something my wife could use in the house...
Crow T. Robot- A man?
Joe Wilson- An interocitor incorporating an electron sorter.
Cal Meechum- Oh, she'd probably gain 20 pounds while it did all the work for her.
Tom Servo- Cal, you bitch!

Benoit vs. Kane: I'd be shocked if Benoit lost. Enjoy the main event picture Kane, because next month you'll be opening the PPV on Heat vs. Matt Hardy. Benoit wins.

Benoit/Edge vs. La Resistance: I'll go upset here, Benoit/Edge win, but the mistrust grows in victory, with the final turn to come the next night on RAW against Flair/Batista, when Edge turns. Benoit/Edge win.

Tyson Tomko vs. Chris Jericho: If Jericho loses, that means the Christian feud that should have ended around Mania will stretch through SummerSlam. Can't see that happening. Most interesting portion of match is whether Tomko blows more than 50% of his moves. Jericho wins.

Eugene vs. Coach: If they have Eugene getting main event wins against a World Title contender, they can't turn around and have him get his first loss to Coach, unless Coach is performing favors for someone. Eugene wins.

Victoria vs. Lita vs. Gail vs. Trish: Lita wins because the teenyboppers like/confuse her with Jeff.

Randy Orton vs. Shelton Benjamin: I think the RAW after the PPV is when Evolution has to realign itself. Orton drops the belt. Benjamin wins.

Trip vs. Michaels: If Trip is ever going away for a few months, this would be the place for him to do the stretcher job. If he doesn't job this Cell match, its a safe bet that he'll never job any cell match. Michaels wins.

Benoit over Kane to retain.

HHH over HBK in the big ol' cage.

Shelton over Randy to win the strap.

Tomko over Jericho, maybe with help from Trish and/or Christian.

La Resistance over Benoit/Edge, with more "team miscomunication" between Benoit/Edge.

Eugene over The Coach, maybe with Garrison Cade interfering on Coach's behaf but stoped by Regal interfering on Eugene's behaf.

Lita over Trish, Victoria, and Gail, maybe Lita pins Trish.

Benoit vs. Kane: This will be the closest Matt Hardy ever gets to anything involving the world title, interfering to cost Kane it

Benoit/Edge vs. La Resistance: I'd guess this'll be the destruction of the Not Quite Mega-Powers, with Edge's heel turn. But if they're not going to have Edge be the funny heel that got him over in the first place, there's really no point

Tyson Tomko vs. Chris Jericho: Tomko. No one loses their PPV debut....not even......Tomko

Eugene vs. Coach: There is no reason on Earth why Coach should be the first to beat Eugene. That said, I have a bad feeling he will

Victoria vs. Lita vs. Gail vs. Trish: Lita, thanks to Kane murdering every other woman in sight

Randy Orton vs. Shelton Benjamin: Orton. Benjamin's beaten him too many times already to go over here

HHH vs. Michaels: Could really go either way.....though I'll never pick against HHH

Randy Orton retains the Intercontinental Championship against Shelton Benjamin (could be DQ)
Chris Benoit def. Kane to retain the World Championship via Matt Hardy/Lita distraction

Benoit retains
Orton retains
La Resistance retains
Lita wins the women's title
Eugene d. Coach
Jericho d. Tomko

Man not for nothin' but where's the outcry at what a shitty card this is, because all that really makes it different than Judgment Day is the Hell in a Cell match with Established Stars on top. Orton/Shelton is sooo Cena/Dupree. Lita is Jacqueline and the other three can combine to become one-armed Chavo.

My sentiments exactly ... the only match the even remotely interests me is the cell match and I'm not gonna lose any sleep over not seeing it. The card was basically thrown together with the exception of 2 or 3 matches.

Yes, this is truly a shitty card! But at least Chris Benoit will wrestle twice-That should help a lot!

....

Picks:

1) Jericho! (If Tomko beats him I will set myself on fire....well, probably not, but I would be REALLY shocked!)

2) La Resistance! Edge turns on Benoit!

3) Eugene! Coach´s winning streaks ends right here!

4) Orton! 1) I think the Shelton/Orton feud will continue until Vengeance! 2) Orton will still be the champ at Summerslam!

5) Lita or Trish! Who cares? None the less I have a feeling that Victoria might loose her title this time!

6) Shawn! I know Triple H will possibly challenge Benoit for the belt at Summerslam, but somehow I think that the babyface will win this feud´s blow off match!

7) Benoit! Of course!

Cause HHH and Michaels will put on a good match. And the RAWs leading up to this one have been better than the Smackdowns prior to Judgment Day. People are probably more willing to give the benefit of the doubt.

Right. HIAC will probably be a great match, whereas Judgment Day had a whopping zero matches anyone would expect to hit ****. Also I have way higher expectations for Benoit/Kane than I did for Eddie/JBL going in (although I can't promise that B/K will top the match E/B actually had). Nevertheless, it's certainly a crappy card from bottom to near-top.

Understandably, too, but it's seriously a weak lineup and with HHH/Michaels paired together again, they've limited what the rest of the card can be, as they spent no time building up anyone else for the main event and had to go with Kane for a title match that no one cares about. I'm not saying I don't expect this to be at least an okay show, since I do think the top two matches will deliver as I have plenty of faith in Benoit to carry and the match layers-out to lay out an entertaining match. But on paper, there is only one thing that makes it better than Judgment Day going in, and everyone threw a fit about Judgment Day.

As for the card, I think that the split brand is gonna naturally diminish expectations. If I'm promised two solid matches on a brand-only PPV, I'll buy it. Backlash had Foley/Orton and Triple Threat, pt 2. That was enough for my $35. Your mileage may vary.

Judgement Day had an experimental main event, which is fine, but then you REALLY need a quality second match. That's where the loss of Lesnar and Angle hurts them, because you could put those two in a submission match or a "New Cervical Vertebrae on a pole" match and that would bump the buyrate by 100,000 or so.

Benoit v.s Kane- They're building up Kane, albeit a bit late, so Benoit retains.

La Resistance v.s Benoit and Edge- La Resistance wins, leading to a Benoit/Edge match down the line.

Victoria v.s Gail v.s Lita v.s Trish- I'll go with Trish, since she's the most over of any of them.

Randy Orton v.s Shelton Benjamin- Orton wins, so they can keep talking about the length of his IC Title reign.

Triple H v.s Michaels- Triple H. Because, well....he's Triple H.

Eugene v.s Coach- Eugene! Eugene! Eugene!

Jericho v.s Tomko- This could get ugly, and Tomko could win thanks to Christian's interference.

Oh, they're living on borrowed time, no doubt. They've ridden the HHH/Michaels horse about as far as it'll go. I think that HiAC is tacit acknowlegment of that - whatever the outcome, this is the final chapter.

After this PPV, when they have to split up the happy couple, I don't know what they'll do. Because HHH vs. Benjamin or Michaels vs. Orton or Bautista will just seem like repackaged RAW main events. I guess HHH gets his shot at Benoit, but then you've got no undercard. And it's because, like you said, they haven't let anyone new into the fold. They never do, unless they're absolutely forced into it.
