Here are some more thoughts from a demented mind in Central Florida: I found the original report on the Camel Clutch Blog, which I would've ordinarily just said, "Meh." But The Torch seems to back it up.
If this is, in fact true, I do sorta kinda maybe see Morrison's point. WM should be for the active wrestlers/roster. This is that one day of the year that they live for. Trish hasn't been an active wrestler in nearly five years.
However, on the other hand, it's Wrestlemania and it's Trish Fucking Stratus. Trish is the best female worker they've had in the past decade, barring Awesome Kong and Beth Phoenix (though possibly better than both). This is also a Wrestlemania they built in large part around the Rock, a man who hasn't wrestled in a WWE ring in seven years. What's Melina done recently that was relevant? And it's not like the match was any particular length to be more than a quick throwaway.
Your thoughts?
Why yes, I am both a musician and a lawyer. Thanks for asking. :)
Trish has basically confirmed the story in toto. It's baffling in its stupidity. I hate the "predict releases" threads because it's just a list of everyone in the lower half of the roster without rhyme or reason, and I hate calling for people to be LOL future endeavoured, but it's time for Melina to go. She's past her shelf life as a WWE female, she's mental, she's been a heat magnet (would such a mystical invention exist) for years, and she's dragging down Morrison with her.
Hm. Sorry, I can't resist John Morrison bashing. When this story spread around a couple of weeks ago, I figured it was bullshit. After all, you'd have to do about three Starship Pains worth of mental gymnastics to figure out how John Morrison or Melina could think Melina would fit in the LayCool/Vickie Guerrero/Dolph Ziggler angle considering Melina has been a nothing act on RAW and a Superstars perennial for months.
Trish actually acknowleging it, in her usual diplomatic way, is interesting. As was the jab at Morrison not being "smart" - read: Stupid, an Idiot. I've heard the same from others, re: Morrsion not being "smart", over the years too. The guy can flippy flop and do parkour, he's a great athlete, but he's not "smart". Why doesn't the company push him again?
I would have a hard time believing John Morrison would have been on the WrestleMania XVII card at all were it not for the Trish Stratus angle with Snooki against LayCool, Vickie, and Dolph. Morrison had no storylines of his own, nor did Melina. And certainly, Morrison, who was in the dark match at 25 and graduated to opening match - squashed by Big Show and Miz - in 26, would never have found himself in the second to last match of WrestleMania XVII were it not for Trish Stratus (and Snooki). Maybe Morrison's angry about that? Maybe Melina is? Who cares.
Real small plans for John Morrison... He's a dummy.

If anyone should've been pissed it should've been Kelly, who was actually in the match, and I guess Eve would've been next in line based on her status as pushed girl of the month. Buuuut they were too, according to Meltzer, 'cause some planned Every-Woman Tag got cut from the show due to their inability to properly time anything anymore.
I'm sure Morrison would've found his way on the show, but it would've been as part of Team Anti-Corre, or a fourway with Bryan, Sheamus, and Ziggler (later exiled to dark match battle royal prelude, so, oh).
Reminds me of Candido and Sytch. Candido was played for a fool by "allege..." - I think most of it has been confirmed - promiscuity and subsequently went down with the ship
Interesting to see if Melina goes that Morrison follows her. Has TNA written all over it
Also, both the former were WAY more talented, but those were different times

But Melina? She screams and does the split. End of skillset.
According to a post on Melina's Twitter last year, which I no longer follow because one can only read so many Tweets about Skittles hee hee hee, Melina was proud that she was considered by the company as their go-to girl for WrestleMania. Or she considered herself the company's go-to girl for WrestleMania (might be a more accurate way to look at things). How can this be, you ask? Well, because after Trish retired, Melina defended the Women's Title against Ashley at 23 - the last time a Divas title was defended at WrestleMania - and then she was part of the Diva Mania tag match with Maria and Ashley vs. Beth and Melina at 24. She was Women's Champion going into the 25 Diva Battle Royal at WrestleMania 25, but no one looked good coming out of that debacle. And then she missed 26 due to injury. Yet somehow Melina got it in her head that WrestleMania was a special night for her; I would imagine the weeks of complete disregard in the way she was booked prior to the show and then being left off the card completely didn't sit well.

Maybe she didn't notice.
She was also a part of Ariane's all-time favorite match. So...maybe she's the go-to girl for Summerslam as well?

Blaming Melina solely for this is a bit weird, right?

Which is why I blame Morrison for being a dummy. If he weren't a dummy, he would have realized that he and Trish Stratus doing cool moves together at WrestleMania would have gotten him postive notice from Vince McMahon, who is both Trish Stratus' biggest fan and not a John Morrison fan (if he were, he'd push him.) A positive review from Trish might have scored points with Vince. Instead, for being a dummy, he stood on the apron while Trish wrestled 90% of the match, did his one spot on Dolph, and that was it for him while Snooki did the finish. Hence, Morrison is not smart.

If Melina gets future endeavored, the over/under on a John Morrison/Kelly Kelly storyline romance is at 2 weeks. If (when?) that happens, we will find out if it's possible to piercingly shriek over Twitter.
I hate to think that this would happen, but the petulant way the E handled the situation with Drew McIntyre and Tiffany was terrible to see, even considering the circumstances surrounding that entire mess. It's even sadder that this is an accepted aspect of the business, but what can anyone do, really?
On the upside, it would make Morrison and Melina even for that whole Batista thing.
I am have following this for awhile too and I am both minds about it. Yes, the talent who has busted their ass all year should be given a Wrestlemania spot even if it is a small one and this has been traditionally the case. It would make more sense for Melina who was already hinted at on Raw TV a month or so ago tied to Morrison then having Morrison with Trish or Snooki.
Yet, the current roster blows. Melina is talented, but she is not that talented or over. Morrison has all the tools, but has no faith from the back or chance of advancing on Raw. Trish is the Goddess of Modern wrestling. If anyone deserves to get a good spot at Mania, its her. People love her and she been a proven commodity for years now. The buyrate for Mania last year domestically was less 500,000, this year is 625,000. I think the addition of Rock, Austin, Trish and God, help Snooki may have bolstered the 150,000 buys on a PPV that even going in I thought was going to be weak as opposed to last year's Mania where it looked like it was going to be WMX-7 all over again and not a lot of people got it.
At the end of day, it will be up to Vince to decide what to do about it, but if you believe the dirt sheets he has no respect for Morrison. He doesn't think he can kick anyone's ass reportedly shocking considering who the Raw champ is. As well as looking down on Morrison for not standing to Melina when she whored herself out.

I'm not blaming her solely, I'm just endorsing a vintage WWE real relationship-ruining administrative decision so they can better control someone's life.

I'm not sure the layout of their three minute match would've gone much differently but I'm guessing she was spitballing ideas for sweet collaborative highspots like you mentioned and he was like "nah. not feeling it. is someone talking to me? we don't have Stratusfaction at the Palace of Wisdom."
According to a post on Melina's Twitter last year, which I no longer follow
She was also all mad at Eve for winning the Girls' Title before she'd accomplished literally anything. Which is true! But Melina has not come to grips with the contemporary apathetic women's division landscape. She's a disciple of Mattitude when it comes to playing the WWE game.
one can only read so many Tweets about Skittles hee hee hee
hee hee hee. duct tape is popular. it's so funny to me. :(
Though we all ignored it at the time, it turns out that, in the long run, the most important, prescient Melina analysis from the 2010 Supplemental Draft Chat was:
Originally posted by melinaDON'T GET YOURSELF IN TROUBLE SWEETIE!!!!! LOVE THAT BEAUTIFUL WOMAN LIKE CRAZY!!!!!! GIVE HER A HUG FROM ME!!
If only she'd given that advice to Morrison.
If they do decide to get rid of Melina over this, I hope they use it as a way to end the Anonymous Raw GM angle by having the facade finally slip when Michael Cole stands up in the Cole Mine after the WWE Draft Computer chooses Cody Rhodes for Raw and says "MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION? And I QUOTE: "CODY?!! WHOAAAAAAAAA WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA." Really, is there anyone among us who wouldn't want to hear an "And I QUOTE: hee hee hee" from Cole?
Also, if I'm Morrison, I...wait, hang on, did Melina successfully predict the "Whoooaaa, you're only Smoke and mirrors!" theme three months before it debuted? Anyway, if I'm Morrison, I totally jump Booker T the next chance I get, on the thinking that since Booker beat up Batista, beating up Booker would make him look twice as tough to Vince.
All the "She's TRISH STRATUS!" and "If anybody deserves a spot at Wrestlemania, it's her" talk is ridiculous. As is the assertion that Morrison just "sat there and let Stratus work 90% of the match."
A) If you replace Trish Stratus with the name Hulk Hogan, people would be shitting all over it. "What's he done lately?" "Why this old timer with in the second to last match with all the new young guys/gals on the roster not getting used at WM?" It's hypocritical as shit.
B) Who was the agent for the match? Who set it up? If Vince loves Trish and loathes Morrison, why would VINCE allow Morrison to have even 1/2 the ring time?

Trish is the only female wrestler in modern wrestling history to be a good worker, put on great matches, draw, be a good soldier, leave on good terms and come back on good terms.
Those being the qualities that Vince is likely to admire and the first two arguably the least important.
Hogan has at best two of those attributes.
Since wrestling fans admire many of those same qualities (valuing the first two more than Vince does) they are giving Trish the benefit of the doubt.
Also, while she is definitely burying Morrison, she is doing it in a very diplomatic way and in a "it's nothing I wouldn't say to his face" way
Frankly, I respect that, I suspect that the backstage does too and most wrestling fans do.
And why the hell wouldn't you want to work with arguably the best female wrestler of modern times?
Morrison is an idiot. Everything else is just smoke.
Not denying that Morrison is an idiot (because I have no reason to believe otherwise), but to me it sounds like somebody who is p-whipped within an inch of his life was told, "We don't like Trish Stratus anymore."
Originally posted by StaggerLeeA) If you replace Trish Stratus with the name Hulk Hogan, people would be shitting all over it.
You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who's been a bigger Hogan mark/apologist than me around here over the years, but even I think this comparison is a little daft. I don't think people would shit on Hogan returning if it was his first comeback since his initial run. Trish was back to promote the new Tough Enough season and she looked good enough on TV to impress people. Thus she got thrown a payday by getting interjected into a meaningless bout built around being upstaged by a magenta dwarf in hopes of a TMZ mention. No one got buried here (although I'd have been totally fine with Eve or Kelly getting Trish's spot, and making Trish the manager---and that would clearly have been better for morale).
I don't buy the Hogan comparison either. Despite the haters MOST people would understand putting Hogan at the top of a Wrestlemania card if he returned. I don't remember anybody saying that Hogan vs. Rock or Hogan vs. HBK didn't deserve to be at the top of the card.
That being said, I don't see what the big deal about Trish is either. I love Trish. She can wrestle, she has a personality and she's easy on the eyes. But plug in Natalya or Beth Phoenix and I'm not less interested, I'm probably more interested because those are current wrestlers that could be going somewhere with a WM appearance.
I don't know how much Vince loves Trish, maybe he does, but it probably really just comes down to Tough Enough. The WWE has Tough Enough to promote. They put Stone Cold, Trish and Booker all on the show so they can say Tough Enough as much as possible and it doesn't hurt that everyone reporting on Snooki can mention Tough Enough when they mention her tag partner Trish.
I give it 3 months before the next TNA Super Faction is in place. Then another 2 months before the angle has completely fallen apart. What an absolute waste of 18 months the A&8's angle has been.
