Well, i can usually predict the outcome of WWE's ppv main events pretty easily, but this time...i'm wondering if Benoit is gunna hold on to that title for longer than a month, or is HBK gunna be back on top? Or will HHH cry his way into letting Vince let him win? I am puzzled for the first time. Some imput would be nice. What do you all think of who's walking away from Backlash with the belt?

Y'know, I'm not really sure. On the surface of it, it seems like having a rematch of WrestleMania XX's outstanding triple-threat match is just an excuse to get the belt on Triple H as quickly as possible so he can hold it for another full year.

On the other hand, WWE put the belt on Benoit at the biggest WrestleMania ever... WrestleMania XX, where it all begins again! And it did indeed all begin again, with Benoit finally winning the World Heavyweight Title (and getting to keep it for more than a day this time), and with Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero, World Heavyweight and WWE Champions, embracing in the middle of the ring.

It'd all be pointless if Benoit lost the title the very next month. To me, the triple-threat match had the feeling of “We're going to make Chris Benoit the focal point of this company”. It was one of those epic matches in which careers are made. Giving the belt right back to Triple H would take away from the luster of that match, especially as long as his title reigns tend to be.

So I'm gonna predict that the result I want to happen-- Benoit retaining-- will happen. And God, I hope I'm not hexing myself here.

“Chris Benoit, finally, is the Heavyweight Champion of this world!”

I see Benoit getting the Win pinning HHH (after Evolution accidently screws HHH)Which would start the Orton/HHH fued. HHH is on a losing streak, how can they have him come into backlash after losing to a noob like Shelton. Shelton is a good wrestler dont get me wrong but how can he beat the game? That is my prediction for Backlash. Black Skizo, I am also pretty good at seeing who will win and what will happen next in the world of wrestling. I am going to say this, I bet MADNESS hits WWE in August with a big BANG just in time for Summer Slam.

I think we can count on HBK not getting the belt because it just wouldn't make a lot of sense at this point.

The sword hanging over this match is the ever-present "HHH is taking time off to film his movie" rumour. We've been hearing this for the last few months, so is there anything to this rumour or what? I've been looking forward to a couple of HHH-free months of RAW while he's off pretending to be the Rock.

If this is a prediction thread, I'll put my money on Benoit to retain at Backlash. A one month reign, at this point, would be a slap in the face. Like JrBernal83, I can totally see Evo screwing up somehow and costing Trips the win. I can also see HHH working some kind of injury angle to throw the match (which would also allow him time for a movie, if that's what he's doing). And I can also see Shawn doing something "selfless", costing himself the match, and this, will, of course, endear him to the fans in a heroic kind of way.

So sayeth Randy Stilton, the real Stinky Cheese Man!

An HBK heel turn seems to be telegraphed. He's starting to become more like the Shawn from DX than the HBK we all know and love.

I'm still hoping for the longshot...

HHH is down and out. Benoit and Michaels are both on the ladder, fighting it out. One of them will reach the belt... when BRET HART runs out of the crowd! He grabs a chair, charges the ring, and CLOCKS BENOIT! Michaels then goes on to take the belt and regain the championship, embracing his new buddy Bret in the middle of the ring.

And then a promo from Bret explaining that he could forgive Shawn for doing what he had to do, but he couldn't forgive Benoit for changing hometowns and forgetting his Canadian roots.

Geez if that happens, crap. I hope that the idea of this match is that the whole "odds" thing on RAW where it doesn't look good for Benoit winning this match is a way for him to get the surprise win. And I hope so, b/c Benoit's a fresh face with a world title, but I wouldn't put it out of WWE in booking HHH or even more likely Shawn Michaels over Benoit in his hometown of Edmonton.

Best case scenario? Benoit hopefully gets the duke and HBK turns heel to feud with Benoit over the belt. I think Edge could be the next big challenger for the belt provided he finds his ring footing again after his lenghty absence. I guess Kane and Randy Orton will become challengers for the belt as well? Orton is the IC champion, so why not put him in a match against Benoit? Maybe that's one WWE is saving up, I'm not sure. When these were the first 2 guys in the Royal Rumble match this year I had a feeling they would go back to that somewhere down the line.

One more thing, is this a ladder match or not? There were rumors that the 3 way rematch would have a ladder involved, but if it did you think they would've announced it by now since the show is in 2 weeks.

But, you must remember, WWE isn't renound for it's ability to make sense.

You really think HHH is gonna regain the title? I was already complaining how he has been in *EVERY* World Heavyweight Championship match on PPV since the damn title exist! Will it ever be possible to see two other guys fighting over it? And if he becomes champ again now......well, I don't know what will happen in that case.

Wow, since no one else is saying it, then I will. I have every reason to believe that HHH is going to win back the belt. He lost twice to Benjamin and might need some payback for the demotion of his character over the last few weeks. He could also have the title and be that much more important when the WWE promotes his appearance in Blade: Trinity during the summer.

Obviously HBK is not looking good to win, and Benoit got his WM win. We can have Benoit/HHH one-on-one in June or July for the "Really, Really Final Encounter."

But then again, TJ Madigan is not a name to distrust. He obviously knows exactly what is going on.

I say Benoit wins by making HBK tap out. He beat HHH at WM by making him tap, so now he does the same, but this time to HBK. Now that he's beaten them both in Triple Threat matches, singles matches can ensue with both HBK and HHH saying that it wasn't one-on-one, thus creating a few more weeks/months of storylines and singles matches between the three of them. We have to eventually get the one-on-one HHH/Benoit match. I'd say have that for free on RAW with a few weeks build-up and have it be the last RAW before HHH leaves for his movie with Benoit being the one that put him on the shelf.

I still think we can't discount some kind of DX reformation, or just an alliance between HHH and HBK to screw Benoit. I can't see VKM putting on a show in Canada with HBK in the ME without bringing up Montreal. Imagine the heat in Calgary the next night...

Also, if the WWE will try nWo again, why not a revamped DX?

I agree totally. The way I see it going down is Benoit having Trips in the Sharpshooter and Orton trying to interfere, but Michaels nails him with the Sweet Chin Music. Then have HHH tap out and you've got Michaels the hero and Benoit the champ.

That seems to be the most logical outcome, and it would fit in very well with H leaving for his movie (But geeze, will he just go already!?). WWE would be stupid to take the Title from Benoit, considering how long he's been in the buisness, and how much more respect he can bring to it. Losing it after a month will screw over Benoit and downplay his talent. And if WWE still has Eddie holding his title, and not passing it off to Kurt or another major contender, I think they'll give Benoit a signifigant title run.

But I disagree with thebadguy on who is going to tap out. Ever since Benoit came to Raw, HBK has been wavering between true heel and true face, with superkicking Benoit, then a very coordinated tag title match. I see Benoit injuring H with a sharpshooter or headbutt (so he can go for the movie), then making HBK tap out to the crossface. That will get HBK to turn on Benoit and become heel, and they feud in the weeks (months if we're lucky) that H is gone. Then maybe, whe H comes back, Evolution abandons/turns on him, and he forms some kind of DXish stable with Shawn.

Just my opinion.

It may seem like a minor point, but they've just edited a shot of Benoit with the World Championship belt into the new, post-draft RAW intro. It seems a bit odd that they'd do that if they were planning on him losing the belt two shows later.

"The Republican National Committee announced today that the Republican Party is changing its emblem from an elephant to a condom. The Republican committee chairman explained that the condom more clearly reflects the party's stance today, because a condom accepts inflation, halts production, precludes a next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and offers a sense of security while you're actually getting screwed."

Benoit is going to retain. I really don't think they would have spent all of RAW saying "Benoit CAN'T win twice in a row" only to have Benoit lsoe and regain the "choker" label again. Even J.R. was starting to say he doesn't think Benoit can do it.

That, plus the new RAW intro, plus the fact that HHH is leaving, plus the fact that he just won the belt a month ago at the biggest WM ever PLUS the fact that he got there by a "superhuman push," lasting out all 29 other men in the Rumble makes a Benoit loss at Backlash in Edmonton(!) so completely retarded that even WWE won't do it.
