Overall a good show with mostly quality matches. Jericho/Benjamin was a great match with back and forth action and awesome manuvers and reversals. The tag team turmoil was surprisingly solid with good wrestling from Tajiri and Regal early on. Edge/Benoit was very good but Matt chants took away from it. Kane/Viscera was nothing in the ring but the crowd loved the Viscera attack on Trish. Hogan/HBK v. Hassan/Daivari was fun to watch, nothing special in the ring but the electricity was awesome. HHH/Batista was very solid was just as good if not better then Mania.
I just came from Backlash and had a blast. I was pleasantly surprised with the PPV, and think its one of the better one's I've seen recently but maybe I'm alittle biased since i was there.
The electricity in the air when Hogans music hit was overwhelming. Everyone was going nuts.
From inside the arena it seemed like we tore the place up, how loud were we on TV? Louder than normal?

At first, I thought it sounded like it was going to be a dead crowd. You guys seemed dead during Jericho/Shelton. However, once those guys woke you up, you did sound above-average in my opinion.
Fair show. I personally loved the opener, and felt satisfied by the end of it. BENJAMIN and Jericho were great, Jericho seemed to be lacking a spark in the early going but being in there with Shelton seemed to force something better out of him and to show he could still hang. Even though the match was designed as a star-making situation for Shelton, Jericho still got tons of Y2J chants and the fans were out of control every time he locked on the walls. I realize his contract is coming up for renewal, but they've got to do something with this guy ASAP. They're really squandering something special here. I hope to God he's not turning heel again. It's only been about a year.
The tag turmoil was good, and I was pleasantly surprised to see Rosey and Hurricane win the tag-belts. A face-team to face-team title change was done without any ridiculous heel turns, and if that's what they wanted to accomplish they did it. Also good to see that the Heart-throbs aren't going to be overpushed right out of the gate like their SD counterparts MNM.
Edge/Benoit was definitely hurt by the Matt love. Particularly disturbing was a fan verbally dressing down Edge when they were outside the ring for a bit, audibly screaming "you cheated on your wife! your wife!" Lawler and JR ought to have considered talking over that. It's one thing to hate on Edge, but they were crapping on Benoit too by going on that way. This was way too short, and ended just when it was getting really good. Needed another ten minutes.
Lita is a heel now. They haven't acknowledged it yet, but her body language, her vocal tone, and just about everything about her screams heel.
Did I just enjoy a Chris Masters segment? He really gave it to that dirty shemale. THAT is a woman on steroids, Mrs. Copeland. You can tell just by looking when it's a woman, because no woman can naturally attain a "manly" musculature.
Viscera/Kane was what it was. You could argue they have no business putting this on a PPV, and you'd be right. That being said, the storyline behind this kept me watching. Trish walks the fine line of racism calling Vis a "chicken-eating loser" after he comes up short, but at least this was one time the racist got pummelled. Once she invoked that element, Vis became a face with the crowd, and they enjoyed his splash of Trish.
Hogan/HBK V. The Arabs was fine for what it was, which was fifteen minute kissing of Hogan's ass. I don't mind it at all, if anyone's ass deserves to be kissed it's Hogan's. Not exactly the kind of thing I'd necessarily put on a PPV, however, or at least not one so weak.
Christian is becoming a star. Even JR had to acknowledge the groundswell behind Captain Charisma as the Christian chants rang out but they still loved to boo him. His rap was hilariously bad, but they really misfired with the Corey Haim remark, who I have personally never heard of. I hope he and Tomko stay together, post draft, because he completes X-Tian's shtick. Do not turn this man face, whatever you do. He can be an entertaining heel, which is not something there's a lot of these days.
I only watched the latter part of HHH/Batista. Hunter gives himself a visionary fall with the pedigree, as apposed to the Batista kicks out of the pedigree finish we were all anticipating. That little tidbit is the thread to justify the third battle, no doubt. The end sequence was fun, but nothing PPV quality by a long shot. I can't imagine there is another remotely attractive match with these two anywhere in the cards, but with Batista's limitations, who else does he face? The draft should be tomorrow, for God's sake.

Wouldn't surprise me if the writers had her show up on RAW as Val Venis's new girlfriend.

You’ve never heard of Corey Haim? One half of the infamous “Two Coreys” from the 1980s, along with Corey Feldman?
Someone get this man a copy of “The Lost Boys,” stat!
Honestly, I missed the show, but I cracked up as soon as I heard about that comparison.

Was that the one about the 1980s actor who had it all, but fell into a spiral of drugs and an out-of-control lifestyle that took nearly everything away?

Oh, so you've seen it?
Did you ever see the episode of Three's Company about the big misunderstanding? That was funny too.

No, it was the one about the 1980's child actor who had it all, but fell into a spiral of drugs and an out-of-control lifestyle that took nearly everything away.
That should narrow it down for you.

Wow. Was Backlash so good that as a result posts 4-10 (and now 11, I guess) have nothing really to do with the PPV content?
I got together with a friend of mine this weekend and he was bummed to see he had missed Wrestlemania. He and I would get together to watch a PPV every now and then for about the last 7 years. Now we are debating which one to try to catch, and it'll probably be SummerSlam. It's pretty sad that the business has deteriorated to this point.
By the same standard, I was also surprised not to see the Q'n'D on the main page today.

The thing that Backlash did for me, more than anything else, was convince me beyond the shadow of a doubt that Chris Masters is sleeping with someone high up in the company. A random squash (that wasn't even a match), of some female bodybuilder type, taking up time on a pay-per-view? Either he really is "connected," or they were running severely low on match possibilities. Why not let Jericho-Benjamin or Benoit-Edge go longer instead, or hell, GIVE THE GUY A MATCH?
As for the rest of the card, I actually thought most of the matches were good. I thought Benoit-Edge started off the weakest, but picked up steam at the end. Hogan/Michaels-Hassan/Daivari, on the other hand, started out great, but got really formulaic by the end. They even teased some dissension in the superhero ranks (Hogan dictating that he would start first, the two arguing a bit as they left the arena) but failed to deliver on anything there.
Hey now, guys, don't be hating on Corey Haim. He's back living in Toronto now. He's off the drugs and, last I heard, was quite happy working in a bookstore downtown.
Now, about the WWE...
When is someone going to call Chris Masters out for beating up on little guys, amateurs, and women? Someone has to take this lad to school.
He was a popular attraction until he choked to death on a corn kernel.

Yeah, that one makes little sense to me, too. It came after the Edge/Benoit match, so ordinarily I would look at it as a simple “emotional reset” segment for the live crowd. Kinda like the Christian promo was before the main event. Or hell, even a bathroom break. But it led into the match featuring MABEL of all people, so I don’t think they could have expected a hot crowd anyway.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Viscera as Masters's feud. I'm still rooting for Mark Henry, but Viscera has enough popularity now to get Masters over.
And hooray to the WWE rewarding the recent jobbers. Val had a not-bad pre-PPV match, Hurricane and Rosey got some gold, and Viscera has an angle.

You're missing a word in there: YET. What, you think they're gonna tease dissension and deliver on something all in the same night?? Give it time, give it time. Pretty harsh if you're criticizing the match because they didn't immediately deliver on a split between the two. I didn't see the show, but if they kept the cameras on the two of them bickering, then I think it's safe to say they're going to deliver on something there.
"And hooray to the WWE rewarding the recent jobbers. Val had a not-bad pre-PPV match, Hurricane and Rosey got some gold, and Viscera has an angle. "
I'll give you the latter two, but if Val's reward is having pretty good matches on Heat then he's been getting bonuses every week for the past year or so.
PPV was pretty good for what it was. Jericho/Benjamin was the strongest match and Benoit/Edge was pretty close on its tail, plus Trips and Batista managed to top the Mania match quite handily. I guess I shouldn't be so surprised that I enjoyed the Michaels/Hogan match so much, because Shawn is awesome at fostering emotional investment in these kinda big angles. Still, a much better bout than you might've thought it would be going in.

Rooting for Mark Henry? So you the one to blame for the push of "Sexual Chocolate" and the other gimmicks of that useless piece of crap? I hope Vince just lets the contract of (rumored 10 years when he first signed) run out thankfully and watch him slip in obvillion. Can he take Vis, Luthor Reigns, Jindrak, and Chris Masters, with him?
Viscera popularity? Who would have ever said that. I'm surprised no one made the "rematch" reference to the title match between Diesel vs King Mabel. I mean afterall.. Glen Jacobs is Kane, and he also played the fake Diesel, and the big useless guy who plays Viscera was also King Mabel.
You know, if stripping his mask off is it all it takes to get Rey to cover his face with both hands and be effectively useless, one wonders why every opponent of his doesn't do that. I was actually saying out loud, "C'MON, REY! He didn't hurt you....
