Check out the Backlash card so far: HHH vs. Hogan for Undisputed Title RVD vs. Eddy Guerrero for IC Title Billy and Chuck vs. Al and Maven for Tag Titles Kidman vs. Tajiri for CW Title Undertaker vs. Austin for #1 contendership Hall vs. Bradshaw Kurt Angle vs. Edge Brock Lesnar vs. Matt Hardy Trish vs. Jazz for Women's Title
Stuff we might expect: Mark Henry vs. Test (limousine on a pole match) Bubba Ray vs. somebody for Hardcore Title Spike vs. Regal for Euro Title Rikishi vs. Albert A Chris Benoit appearance
Looks like a good card to me (with some worthless filler, but hey). Are you planning to buy this PPV? Predictions?
Also, look who's NOT on the card so far:
The Rock Jericho Lance Storm Big Show DDP Booker T Christian
That's a lot of talent, folks.

This "Brand Extension" has worked so far. There are all good matches with storylines behind them up and down the card. I still won't be getting it, but I will get the DVD when it comes out. I will go to the local bar to check out the PPV live.
That "limo on a pole" line cracked me up big time. I wish I hadn't had a mouth full of water at the time because it is all over my floor now.
January 4th 1999 - The day WCW injected itself with 10 gallons of Liquid Anthrax...AKA...The day Hogan "Defeated" Nash to win the WCW title in front of 40,000.
Combining the card with what we should expect lands 13 matches. I don't think they will have that many. Some of these are going to be t.v. stories only. Rikishi-Albert, Henry-Test, and Spike-Regal would be my guesses. Still that's 10 matches and no Jericho, Booker, or DDP. I guess it's possible that HHH-Hogan, and Taker-Austin will be short, but with intros, recaps, interviews and such I still don't see how they can cram all this in three hours. Heat could end up with some good matches or maybe some stories will carry over to Judgement Day.
I'll be getting the ppv, and I'll save predictions till the final card is set.
Agreed, with nine confirmed matches, at probably one more to be added at Smackdown, a few of them are going to have to be short. I don't think that Hunter/Hogan will be short, though. We'll get the 3 minute video package, 5 minute entrances, probably 15 minutes of wrestling and another 3-5 of posing after the match....
I'm guessing the woman's title, Brock/Matt, Bradshaw/Hall and possibly the tag title match are the ones that are going to be shorted the most to make room for all the matches.
I've got questions as to how Heat is going to work during the PPV countdown, but I'll save that for another thread
I'm fine, how are you? Elevator, I said Transport Room. I'm fine, how are you?
This will probably be the first WWF PPV I will miss. This is first RAW I missed in a few months. I haven't seen anything change so far. From reading stuff here, it looks like its just more of the same: creating new insta-feuds that will be forgotten a couple weeks later. No direction. I gave them one more shot to create a new storyline with the nWo poison angle and they threw it away. I think I need to read about them actually starting and finishing and good, solid storyline (with wrestlers, not this damn VKM-Flair feud) before I give the WWF another chance. Otherwise, its not worth investing my time and emotion in.

The Rock won't be there, Big Show & Booker T are both on Raw, so you think they would have announced matches tonight if there were going to be some. They could be last-minute like the Hardcore title at Smackdown. Big Show could be involved in the Hardcore title this time around (I assume they'll have one, it just seems weird to not defend a title at a PPV), since they seem obsessed with pushing him in hardcore matches. Geez, just because he's 7'2, that doesn't mean he's hardcore!! Of course, Booker did have that Hardcore match, so I suppose he could get involved. I'd rather see him and Goldust in another tag match though. And of course, Kane has no one to fight. I think he'll get a run-in in the Bradshaw/Hall match though. Show off his (hopefully) new look. Lance Storm, DDP, and Christian are all low-mid carders (at about the same level as Big Show & Booker T), they may get matches. I had a sudden thought: With the hardcore title, which always has run-ins at PPVs, someone from Smackdown *could* run in. It could be a way to get the hardcore title to Smackdown. Other notables missing from Raw are Rikishi, *Chris Jericho* (anyone remember him), um, the Godfather/Big Valbowski thing could do something, ditto Scotty/Albert, ditto Test/Mark Henry, maybe Faarooq or D-Von.
EDIT: All in all, a very busy PPV, which explains why it costs $35, since it could very well have more matches in it than Wrestlemania, which costed $40. Is "costed" right? I don't know anymore.
Can anyone tell me the last time a WWF ppv went the full 3 hours it has? Wrestlemania had four hours but went 3 hours and 40 minutes with LESS than 2 hours of wrestling. It's sad how much filler are in ppv's now. Then again WWF ppv's have always had a lot of filler in them (ie backstage interviews, skits, commercials).

I'll be buying the card, and bear in mind I'm English so on top of the PPV fee I'm paying Sky Sports subscription. THAT'S dedication. Personally, I'm hyped for this show bigtime, due to the fact that the midcard looks more sizzling than it has in a long, long time. Everything's got some real push behind it-probably the least built-up match is Billy/Chuck Vs. maven/Snow, and that should be decent anyway. Add into that the possibility of Jericho's presence in the main event, and Kane's unmasking (fingers crossed) and you have one interesting card. Let's see what happens...
I'm not hyped for HHH-Hogan AT ALL, but if they could make something of this, then that's all good. ANYBODY but Billy and Chuck would make great tag team champs. With a card like the one we got now, no doubt it'll be better than last year's.
Originally posted by Big BadDoes anyone else find it disturbing that Austin/Undertaker are wrestling on a PPV in Kansas City? Remember 1999?
It may make some fans a bit uncomfortable, given the circumstances, and that is certainly a valid feeling. I don't think anyone should look down on any fan for feeling that way.
For myself, I did raise an eyebrow when the location was announced, but not over the Austin/UT match. For one thing, the original match was UT/HHH, right?
Now, if they had done a ladder match on this card, I'd be rather upset. But, given that there isn't a hardcore match (is there?) on the show, no gimmick matches involving ladders, no DQ etc, I think it's safe to say this show will have less over the top violence. Yeah, Austin and Taker are going to brawl, and one of them if not both, will probably bleed. But that's the only match I can point to and say "that's going to be violent"
So, given the lack of excessive violence on the card, I'm ok with it. Can't (and wouldn't want to) speak for any other fan, though

Nice to see that the other kid's dad hopes that this will teach Reid a lesson. It's just too bad he doesn't care at all about teaching a lesson to his *own* friggin' son in the first place. Tribal Prophet
