So as long as I'm getting myself worked up over comic book shows...

This originally happened back in June before it was all debunked as a "fanboy's personal vendetta."

Which is all well and good...except FFWD to October and that fanboy turns out to be exactly right.

Avengers Assemble has been unveiled at New York Comic Con and it looks to be exactly the show that was rumored for months now. (Oh, and they also brought out "Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.)

In "Marvel's Avengers Assemble," an animated series parallel to the record-breaking blockbuster movie "Marvel's The Avengers," Iron Man leads the team of mightiest heroes – Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow and newcomer Falcon – who combine their powers to battle threats no single hero could overcome. When the Avengers assemble, evil doesn't stand a chance. The voice cast includes: Adrian Pasdar ("Heroes") as Iron Man, Fred Tatasciore ("Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness") reprises his role as Hulk, Roger Craig Smith ("Wreck-It Ralph") as Captain America, Travis Willingham ("Shelf Life") as Thor, Troy Baker ("Ultimate Spider-Man") as Hawkeye, Laura Bailey ("The Super Hero Squad Show") as Black Widow and Bumper Robinson ("The Game") as Falcon. Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau and Steven T. Seagle of Man of Action Studios ("Ben 10," "Generator Rex") will serve as executive producers.

"Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H." stars Marvel's biggest, hardest-hitting super hero Hulk as he is joined by his larger-than-life teammates and unconventional family – his cousin She-Hulk, the irascible Red Hulk, the exuberant A-Bomb and the savage Skaar - to tackle threats that are too enormous for other heroes to handle. The creative talents of Emmy Award-winning Paul Dini ("Batman: The Animated Series," "Lost") and Henry Gilroy ("Star Wars: The Clone Wars") have been tapped for this series. The voice cast includes: Fred Tatasciore ("Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness") as Hulk, Clancy Brown ("SpongeBob SquarePants") as Red Hulk, Eliza Dushku ("Dollhouse") as She-Hulk, Ben Diskin ("Codename: Kids Next Door") as Skaar and Emmy Award-winning Seth Green ("Robot Chicken") as A-Bomb.

You know...I really don't want to watch yet another take on the Avengers origin, especially so soon after the last one. Of course, I said the same thing about Spidey, so...whatever. From what I've seen of the new voice actors (based on the Ultimate Spidey cameos), I think they'll fit right in. But I have to ask again, why even bother starting over when the last series was going just fine? I really would have loved to see what EMH could have done if they were given time to really flesh out the Winter Soldier arc. And what's with this sudden television law that these shows are only allowed a maximum shelf life of 2-3 years?

I'm running out of drinks to pour out, but I'll pour another one out for Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

The new Hulk show looks...silly. But Paul Dini's involvement means I'll give it a shot. And hey, anything that gives Eliza Dushku employment is a worthwhile endeavor.

How'd you manage to avoid probably the biggest piece of news from the Marvel TV NYCC Panel?

Coulson Lives! (newsarama.com)

Joss Whedon and Kevin Fiege and Clark Gregg personally announced Gregg is the star of the live action S.H.I.E.L.D. series "and always was".

If it were up to me, SHIELD should be a buddy cop show starring Phil Coulson and Thanos.

-How in the hell did he survive being run through by Loki?? I love Coulson, but that is kinda cheap. Plus I thought it was a good emotional moment in the movie (much audience audibly reacted to it).

-Still awesome news. I'm hoping they get some guest star shots with the rest of the crew. At least with Hawkeye and Black Widow...oh and Fury of course.

-EMH is the best comic cartoon of all time. Not saying I will hate this new one, but they could run EMH for 20 years and I'd love it. Hell, it has done Marvel's storylines BETTER than the comics.

I assumed the reports of EMH demise a few months ago were legit, so I have had time to digest this. At the time though, I was pretty unhappy because I *loved* the show. Little things like the Hulk retaining knowledge of gamma radiation and other assorted character tidbits.

Coulson being back is a very good treat though. Although a question; is the SHIELD TV series taking place before, during, or after the movie?

Also, Clancy Brown voicing the Red Hulk!

Glad to see Steven Seagle doing so well (with this and Ben 10), but I can't help but wish he was doing something more along the lines of American Virgin.

Exciting to see Coulson on TV every week. I assumed while watching the movie that he had survived (I thought the thing about the blood on the cards basically just gave it away, was surprised there wasn't a reveal at the end of the movie).

I never saw EMH. I figure I can just wait a while and watch it with my son. He's gonna have such a plethora of cool shit to watch.

3 years has always been the magic number. That's when you have enough episodes to put it into syndication, where it essentially continues to make money indefinitely without costing any more. They figure kids don't ever get tired of old episodes/forget they've seen them before (which, shit, was definitely the case for me when I was a kid), which is why they treat kids' shows this way but not primetime stuff that winds up in syndication.

Ugh, I hope not. Almost as bad a plot device as magic.

And as EMH is on its final run, it's nice to see that today's episode decided to give a sweet ending to the Spectacular Spider-Man by giving him an Avengers ID card. (Even if Josh Keaton was annoyingly removed in post-edits.)

"Does this get me discounts anywhere?"

Oh sure, Johnny Depp looks and acts like an actual person and it's based on a Hunter S. Thompson novel, but they should have just gone ahead and called it Pirates of the Caribbean 5. It's basically what this was.
