I'm still tired and lazy so all you get is the short version: the reason you saw nothing from me over the weekend is that Guru and I met up at the SFO airport late Friday, drove to Modesto and stuck around until leaving for the last flights of the day on Sunday - for me, that meant rolling into MSP at 0500 with a 0700 start time at work. This was why you also didn't see me making any posts on Monday.

My parents' birthdays are two weeks apart, and this was a "significant" one for both of them - you know my age and his age, so you can probably figure out their age (and if you're Mr. Boffo, you'll probably post it, along with their middle names, ZIP+4 and tax returns, and then express puzzlement at the subsequent banning) ANYWAY, we decided that not only would we show up for their birthday, but we got them each an iPodnano - white for Mom and noir for Dad. We also lent our professional services spending a good chunk of Saturday afternoon setting up the 50" LCD TV they bought themselves as a present (but apparently had absolutely no intentions of actually setting up if we were going to be around). So it was a very tech heavy weekend - except that not once did we even think of attempting to access this board using their 28.8K dialup.

"It's All Gone Pete Tong" comes out today on DVD (amazon.com), but Best Buy didn't have it, so I am without. I even checked the local Barnes & Noble and was embarrassed to find out that they only sold BOOKS there. Can you imagine? What a concept!

I have a lot more to say about my weekend, but who knows if it'll ever get said. Well, it'll get SAID - to my wife - but whether or not I'll actually get around to TYPING it is a toss up. I'm still trying to get more tiny thread icons together in time for premiere week!

... Like the avatar; it hits close to home. Been on Cali 99 (former US 99) more times than I can count, mostly during the late 80's and early 90's.

Here is a little background and a little more background on Cali 99 for anyone interested. I'm kind of a road geek; sue me.

Yep, I'm a convert, and the guy that drives this car is the TRUTH.

So noted. Although I've probably been on CT-99 (kurumi.com) thousands of times, I couldn't point it out on a map (well, I could, but it'd be LABELED, so that doesn't count).

A Barnes & Noble that only sells books? What decade are they in again?

You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.

There's a Books Only B&N in Virginia Beach. It is located in the strip mall complex next to a Planet Music, so that was probably part of the deal when they opened the store.

All of the B&N stores around me are basically books only stores. They leave the all-in-one shopping to Borders.
