Good point. Being the negative bastard that I am, I never believe anything I read.

Okay, last time: READ MY SIG BEFORE YOU COMMENT ON MY PIC. Thankyou. And yes, I do remember Bret Hart. And yes, he refused to lose a title. About three weeks in advance of the show. Giving the men with the pen plenty of time to cover the gaps. He did NOT walk out hours before a live show. And if you don't see that the product has improved over the past two weeks, then I got no love for your opinions anyway. Pointing out one of two negatives about last week's Raw (the othe rone involving Austin-huh, how about that) doesn't mean that the show was bad. I'll take two ten-minute matches of decent quality over the crap we got after Mania any day of the week.

And, final point: if you think dropping in a stupid little remark that no-one paid attention to is the same as storming out of an arena, wrecking a live TV show and pissing off thousands of live fans, then no offence buddy, but you're an idiot.

Of course, Z may also have a point.

Well geez, so many opinions on here, pretty much all the bases have been covered. I guess I would have to agree most with the sentimate expressed by oldschoolhero, mainly that Austin walking out to improve the product is BULLSHIT, and also with anyone else who said that walking out to improve the product isn't acceptable.

Austin is making himself out to be bigger than the WWE, which we all know he never was. He is biting the hand that fed him enormous popularity, unmatched even by The Rock during his best run. And like Stephanie said, Austin isn't the crossover star that he was three four years ago. Rock is. The disturbing thing that I see about this whole situation is that in some ways, it is like the Chyna thing. She thought she could make it without the Fed, and she thought she was above it. Now look what she has been reduced to. This isnt to say that Austin has as little talent as Chyna, but I fear that the same thing will happen to him if he decides that his crossover appeal is enough and he walks out.

And if he walks out, look what he's passing up. Rock said on Confidential that he is coming back. Vince is no idiot, he knows that a Rock/Austin WM will do huge numbers, so he'll do it. Austin is passing up the chance to go one more huge Main Event, have a surefire awesome match, and FINALLY put The Rock over once and for all and ride off into the sunset, with all fans talking about the classy way he went out.

A real shame, this whole situation is.

You guys crack me up.

Since we're being all reactionary how come there's no thread once again predicting the inevitable return of the Four Horsemen? According to the Torch Recap, Ross talked about Flair and the 4H during his match.

And I'm also shocked there's no "not another racism angle!" thread.

I've always been amazed at how quickly the IWC turns on someone in these types of situations. It took you guys ONE WEEK to move back to "Michaels is causing backstage unrest and is the cause of all of this week's problems" and flip flop from "Austin's great" to "I hope they fire him." Sheesh (and just to be clear, spf, not all of the above instances apply to you, since that inevitably comes up in this type of situation).

Let me recap this thread for those of you late to the game.

"We" hate Austin now and hope he gets fired.

This is not a work -- it's real because a website reported it despite the fact that the company is desperate for viewership and is grasping at straws.

Austin was going to wrestle Brock in a KOTR qualifier, even though Brock's current feud was with Bubba Ray.

Austin was going to LOSE that match, which is why he walked out (totally fabricated).

The fact that Austin went on a company owned show and badmouthed said company without receiving any punishment from an owner who characteristically "punishes" his employees for insubordination has passed a number of you by (and if Austin WAS punished, don't you think the Torch would report on THAT, too?)

Shawn Michaels is already causing problems.

Nash, Hogan and Triple H also have something to do with this because they hold everybody down -- especially Chris Jericho -- and no complaint session would be complete without this point.

"We" hate Undertaker and the Hardys suck.

No they don't.

Austin's company incentive clause in his contract is brought up and quickly pushed aside in favor of rampant hysterics because fact like that don't work in this type of discussion.

Bret Hart's name had to be brought up as well.

In close, chill out guys, you're being worked.

Well, I suppose we don't know anything, but Austin's been acting like this for months, and this doesn't fit into any of the storylines they've set up...

Anyway, fuck that half-assed, washed-up, never-jobbing, self-righteous hillbilly fuck. I hope it's real, I hope he leaves, I hope he takes that bald-headed wife of his with him, and I hope eventually the mindless sheep in the arenas stop screaming his stupid fucking catchphrase every single time anyone opens their mouths.

(And, by the by, if the exact same thing had happened on Smackdown, with HHH and Randy Orton in Austin and Lesnar's places, well, I kinda doubt opinion would be so split.)

And yes, I do remember Bret Hart. And yes, he refused to lose a title. About three weeks in advance of the show. Giving the men with the pen plenty of time to cover the gaps. He did NOT walk out hours before a live show.

And that's the difference between the WWF being booked a while in advance back then as opposed to day to day now. If what we've read is true (and I'm assuming it is, because I'm an idiot), Austin left hours before the show started- do you think he'd have bothered showing up if he'd known at any significant time in advance what was going on? The story goes, he showed up, they told him what he was going to do, he didn't like it, he walked. I'm using but nothing but what I believe to be common sense here- we're not even discussing him at all. What I'm saying is, if he knew 3 weeks ago what was going on tonight and didn't like it, he would have stayed home then if he was going to stay home. Right?

I guess I'll stay away from the improving Raw point, since it removes opinion love, but I'll say that they've pretty much been on a one good match + good Booker T promo cruise control fest for a while now. Raw also turned Tommy Dreamer, who was actually getting some love with the HeAT crowd (with no gimmick, mind you), into Tommy Jackass Dreamer who drinks Taker's tobacco spit and then throws up the next week just because he has to fight him.

As I stated, I didn't agree with Austin's walking out, yet you somehow think that adds up to me saying it's the same thing as Michael's little comment, which no-one paid attention to, accept for people in some thread on the board.

But hey, I'll play devil's advocate... Austin storms out, wrecks a live tv show, and pisses off thousands of fans. Michaels, in one little comment, confirms to the world what Rock said and puts a new face on the company, one that says the Kliq is back in town and be damned if you oppose them. Rock says he's coming back? Ha, he won't be here for long- his buddy Austin is already gone. So 15-16,000 fans, or the vast majority?

In closing, me being an idiot is besides the point. BUT I'M WIENER OF THE DAY!

And if the WWF is working (me) us on this, then god bless 'em, because they finally got my attention.

This thread is surprising. Thought internet fans weren't supposed to be "marks." Thought they were above that in all of their intelligence.

Wake up, sheep. This whole Austin angle is a work if I've ever seen one.

Well, assuming its not a work (and I really don't think it matters whether it is or not at this point, since this thread has taken on a life of its own), I still say good for Austin.

Here is a guy who has been saddled with lame gimmick after lame gimmick for MOST of his career. Nearly all that has been asked of him during this time (losing the US title to Duggan, thr Ringmaster, the Hollywood Blondes breaking up, turning heel) he has done. Not to mention suffering numerous injuries.

If this were Hogan or Nash - hell, if it was even the Rock - I'd agree with most people here.

He has been around long enough to know when he is about to be screwed over, And if he sees it coming, good for him for getting out while he can.

I remember a few months ago when Austin wasn't on a show. Everyone wondered where he was and speculated and speculated. Then, we found out the truth, weeks later and it turned out he had a nasty custody battle with his ex and he had to deal with it.

Then I remember people bitch about him not jobbing to Scott Hall. He must have had a crystal ball on that one.

Needless to say, I've never agreed with two people more, than I have with Uber Monkeys and BobHollySTILLRules.

And the Chris Rock line? Classic. I'm not defedning Austin either, but I UNDERSTAND.

Now, Austin's leaving sucks, but let's face it, he's got the money, he's got the power to do so. We can change that. But, until all the reports are in, I ain't passing judgement on poop. I agree Dreamer's stuff has been stale as hell with the inception of this whole puking fiasco (had to love the guffaw's he didn't recieve last night when he poured the puke onto his opponent an OH! It wasn't PUKE! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!).

And the writing was on the wall. Austin's been very vocal about Lesner and this whole Next Big Thing gimmick, why would you face them off? To be honest with you, the product has been stale. The shows get progressively better only in comparison to the crap we've seen the last few weeks. Last year (no, never mind, TWO years AGO) these shows would have been subpar. Actually, no wait, the Two Man Power Trip had ended by this point, so the shows were good again.

The only thing with Booker being dropped like potatoes by the nWo is in the long run I can't see the positives of a possible six man tag (love those) between the nWo and Booker/Goldust/Kane freak group.

My biggest question is, and the most important, where do we go from here?

Hell, I've hated Austin for a good 3, 3 1/2 years now. This isn't a bandwagon jump for me. I thought both his character and matches were dull and annoying. Austin vs. McMahon got the WWF a whole hell of a lot of viewers, but it drove me away more than anything else. I'm hoping and praying that this isn't a work, and he does get fired. I know that I certainly wouldn't miss him.

Well, of course, everything on this thread is speculation, EVERYTHING (including suggestions it's just a work). It's OK though, because we are not news media, we just do this for fun. One thing's for sure, even if it is a work, it still represents a major and very, very sudden change of direction for the company, so it's still newsworthy.

(Who am I kidding, most of what the news media does these days is speculation too!)

Put me in the "screw Austin" crowd.

I hope they fire his lazy butt and then we won't have to hear J.R. endlessly shill for him.

Good riddance. Guess I'm a sheep, but I think this will do nothing but improve the product...unless it drives all the casual fans away. But I guess we'll see, won't we?

Oh, c'mon, don't act above it all. You're posting here with the rest of us. If it's a work, fine... but this is hardly the first time that news about Austin's unhappiness has surfaced. And if it's not a work, that was a damn unprofessional thing to do. Austin's getting stale, he's not giving guys the rub, he's just content to drink beer on the top turnbuckle, while the cheering massess dwindle and the WWE burns. (how's that for dramatics??)

Wrong. Golddust dressed up as Undercover Brother and told Booker T that "their kind" wasn't welcome in the nWo -- implying that because Booker T is black, he's not welcome in the nWo. This was followed up by Shawn Michaels Superkicking Booker and "expelling him" from the nWo. Since many love knee jerk reactions around here, I figured, after reading several reports on the show, that this would inevitably be brought up. You know, because it "looks like" that they way they're going.

Originally, he was scheduled to face Brock Lesnar on tonight's show. I am not sure what the finish was supposed to be, but from where I stand, it was too early to do that match no matter whoever they planned to put over. The whole show had to be rewritten and Lesnar will now wrestle Bubba Ray Dudley.

Hey, I love a good racism conspiracy as much as the next guy, but I didn't really see anything shady. Goldust was just trying to emphasize with the Bookerman, feel his pain, dig?

This is off-topic, but why do people paint the "IWC" with a broad brush?

"Oh, the Internet smarks hate HHH, they love Benoit, they bitch too much about Austin, they accuse the Undertaker of no-selling...."

C'mon. This board has a wider variety of opinions and flavors than Baskin Robbins. And when's the last time you saw more than three people agree on anything??

Just so you know, the blonde girl you're referring to is Akira Hokuto in her match with Shinobu Kandori. That was one of the most emotional things I've ever seen. Anyway, Hokuto is a WON Hall of Famer who retired in 2000.
