So yeah, was looking forward to the big fest this past weekend and then it rained the whole time. Well, not Sunday night, but it was a mess. See most years, it's so dry that by the third day the park has turned into a dust bowl with the grass all stomped down.
This year they said hey lets put in a sprinkler system and new sod and see if we can keep it nice! Then came the rain, which caused all the "Dillo dirt" they put down as compost to push up over the sod, making it a huge mud pit.
But here's the really fun part. Dillo dirt is an Austin invention, taking recycling to a level I'm not comfortable with. It works like a charm, but it's essentially grass clippings and poop. Well, treated sewage they say, but yeah.
Certain people decided to have fun in the mud pits anyway, and you can view the pics here if you're sick like that:
I didn't take any notes for this show and it's now been two weeks, so I suspect this will be a short one. Taking immediate notes is something I need to do more of; these are a lot easier to write when I have a few bullet points to work with.
