*Edit: Opps I mean the August 25th Raw, darn glare on my wall calendar!**
-Raw did a 4.2 this week with hours of 4.0 & 4.4. The overrun did a 4.9... Last week's Raw did a 4.0 Hours of (3.9, 4.0) no overrun was tabulated because of an error.-
Interesting note that last years Raw after Summerslam actually dropped a point from a 4.0 to a 3.9
I think Raw has jumped a certain hump. Since early July; 6 out of 8 shows have done 4.0+.
I know alot are upset with the show, but I didn't think it was *that* bad. Far from "train wreck" style that Meltzer is claiming. IT wasn't the best show and yes too much McMahon but I saw some decent building blocks for the upcoming PPV.
I always think the overrun is the most overrated number, the 4.9 overrun probably just pushed up the 4.4 second hour from a 4.3... Much more impressive is that there's a 4.0 for the first hour and grew in the second hour
Of course the big question is how the ratings will be effected once Monday Night Footbal start. Seeing the pre-season MNF numbers and the number keeps raising for them 6.4 first week, 6.8 second week and a 7.2 this week and saying that WWE's numbers haven't been effected... But an interesting note is that the MNF games start at 8PM for preseason and at 10PM ratings start dropping (I'm guessing as all the starters stop playing). When regular season starts that games start at 9PM and I doubt will have a 10PM dip like it does now.

Well, this rating should be the high water mark for the next 4 months. Next week is Labor Day, thus the Holiday caused viewership to be low excuse can be recycled. Of course, considering that was one of the days that USA bumped them and that was one of the raison d'etre for moving to TNN, it shouldn't be a valid excuse, yet it will still be used. After that, MNF season starts, which should lower the ratings back into the 3.5-3.7 region. On a positive note, the recent build-up/stabilization is important, as they would have to bring back sex with a corpse in order to threaten to break the 3.0 level, as happened last fall.
Ok, so Ted Williams is decapitated now? What will his son do next, sell him to the Japanese dog food company that bought former Kentucky Derby winner Ferdinand?
Well since you are so darn sure ratings will drop next week, and you know Labor Day is just an excuse, you must know the REAL reason ratings will drop. But since I'm dumb, could you fill me in? I would like to know.

So... what is 1wrestling.com's reasoning for the jump this week? I haven't read their take on it yet. Is it yet another ``telling sign'' of how the business is going?
King Kong Bundy to return? Montreal screwjob really just a work? None of these questions, plus more, in the latest Inside The Ropes!!! ------------------------------------------------------------ The official Online Onslaught Inside The Ropes archive!!!
The McMahons always do well in the TV ratings but it never translates to people paying to see them (Mania, Vengeance, house shows promoted with Vince & now Stephanie)
So far the slight increase in TV ratings from a 3.5 level to a 4.0 level has meant no additional revenue at all to the company. (Source - Observer w/financial numbers)
It's just Shock TV again, IMO. There's no longterm on RAW, it's just week by week with non-wrestlers getting heat on the wrestlers. It may pop the crowd but it's gonna be so damaging down the road.

coughwcwcough
Sometimes I ask myself why I watch WWE after all the crap it's given me. HLA, necro, HHH, and so on. And then it hits me. That one simple phrase that can be modified and used for anything that gets you down, yet makes you keep coming back.
Every episode has the potential to be the best one ever, and I'll be damned if I'm going to miss it after sitting through this shit.

1. No more 7s and 8s though, seems to be losing ground, hey remember that show where you could win a million dollars?
2. Crap still draws a crappy audience it would appear.
I think despite the holiday RAW will do OK next week due to the KANE cliffhanger. They will probably build the following weeks show up to be huge. Maybe the physical return of KANE after a week of speculation. RAW is on the way up. And the non-wrestlers are entertaining, so I have no problem with it. It will help them build new and future stars while maintaining or raising the ratings. TV drives the WWE cash flow of today. And more TV viewers now will no doubt evolve into more PPV down the road and more house show tickets sold in 2004. KANE vs Goldberg has a chance to be huge business. WWE has done well to raise the ratings. Lets hope they continue.

No more 7's and 8's? As in 7.0 and 8.0 right? Raw has drawn and 8.0 once (actually an 8.1) and 7.0+ all of four times. I'd bet if you took the best five ratings in the history of any show, and compared them to the rest, the rest would suck. And Millionaire lost tons of viewers and fell out of the top rated shows, while raw is in the top 5 every single week on cable for about five years now. It's not going anywhere. And Raw is not losing ground at this point, it is gaining it back. The rating has been at or above 4.0 six of the last eight weeks. The last time that happened was between March 25th and May 13th of 2002. As in about sixteen months ago.
