| #1 Posted on 21.8.03 1322.03 | This weeks Raw came in with a 4.0. Which is good considering they made a mistake and didn't tabulate the overrun(added to slamballs rating instead). But it was up from last weeks 3.9 anyways... This weeks 4.0 did hours of (3.9,4.0).
1Popups did give out the quarter hour breakdown for the last 75 minutes of the show... I decided to go back and check what was on during those quarter hours.
9:45-10PM - 4.3 -- Resistance/Dudleyz segment (ads) Start of Jericho/Nash
10PM-10:15 - 4.3 -- conclusion and aftermath of Jericho/Nash match (ads)
10:15-10:30 - 4.0 -- Superhero skit. Rosey/Mack match... Linda, doorbell rings Eric comes in (ads) all of Eric/Linda stuff.(ads)
10:30-10:45 - 3.8 -- Shane McMahon leaves the building... All of RVD/Christian match. Kane carries out RVD. (ads) Summerslam promo
10:45-11PM - 3.9 -- Stacy dancing for Test/Rico/Stevie... RVD/Kane backstage. Austin comes out (ads)
Like I said they made a mistake and didn't tabulate the overrun number.
Hmmm I wonder how many did turn off during the Eric and Linda at home skit.

| #2 Posted on 21.8.03 1328.44 | First rule of the company is: It is never a McMahon's fault for the ratings falling during a segment in which they appear. Thus, it would have to be RVD's, Christian's, or Kane's fault for the rating decrease.

Hey Net Hack Slasher! Thanks for the breakdown, because I was wondering about this "message"...
10PM-10:15 - 4.3 -- conclusion and aftermath of Jericho/Nash match(ads)
10:15-10:30 - 4.0 -- Superhero skit. Rosey/Mack match... Linda, doorbell rings Eric comes in (ads) all of Eric/Linda stuff.(ads)
10:30-10:45 - 3.8 -- Shane McMahon leaves the building... All of RVD/Christian match. Kane carries out RVD. (ads) Summerslam promo
10:45-11PM - 3.9 -- Stacy dancing for Test/Rico/Stevie... RVD/Kane backstage. Austin comes out (ads)
Now then, rounding off to "one point equals about a million viewers, therefore 1/10th would equal 100k", it looks to me -
* the (ads) sucked enough to drive 300k away after Jericho / Nash...
* the (ads) sucked even WORSE at the 10:30 break, driving ANOTHER 200k away...
* but fortunately WWE got on TNN (spiketv's) ass and was able to bring back 100k with the SS promo. The "Message" - spiketv should play better commercials to keep the "casual fan" from changing channels. And CRZ should start recapping again so we and WWE know what (ads) were played without having to review the tape
(does WWE *still* read Slash? CRZ!!! YOU CAN HELP!!!)

| #4 Posted on 21.8.03 1403.41 | Instant Rating: 6.20 | Good point about the ads in the 2nd hour. I can see how that would turn off a lot of viewers. Their commercial break structure in the 2nd half of Raw has really started to piss me off lately. (most notably the 10:55 commercial break that's been popping up lately) I guess that's what happens when your main events and/or interviews are only 10 minutes. Oh, I miss the days of hearing "We just took our last commercial break" at 10:50.
Then again, the numbers probably don't mean anything.

| #5 Posted on 21.8.03 1413.20 | I'm glad you guys brought up the "I think they're trying to send WWE a message" remark because I'm actually kind of pissed off about it.
First point, and this can't be said enough (apparently): The people who rate television shows on their Neilsen boxes are a relatively small portion of the population. They may not be the best sample, but they're the only sample available. Do these people represent WWE's core viewing audience? Are they ones that would be most likely to respond (or not respond) to a certain segment? Who knows? I certainly don't, and 1wrestling doesn't seem to, either.
Second point: These ratings, as small of a sample as they are, are (gasp) good for a cable television show. And consistently, they're pretty damn good. Sure, they're often half what they were five years ago, but that was at the peak. We all know some of the things that have factored into WWE's decline since then.
Third point: As it's been pointed out already, this week's ratings are flawed, because of the Slamball over-run. And yet.... they're STILL up from last week!
For 1wrestling, or whoever is shitting on the ratings in a given week, to say `fans are sending WWE a message' is inane. A small sample of television viewers turned off of the show at a given time, yet overall the program did just as well, if not better, than it's been doing for the past six months. What message are the fans setting?
