"I don't feel like I'm part of the team. Therefore I have to ask myself, what the hell am I doing here?"
After being hailed as a key part of the Dec.17 deal with New Jersey that sent Carter to the Nets for three players and two draft picks, Williams' minutes in the past few weeks have dwindled to almost nothing. He has not started since Jan. 26 and has rarely left the bench recently, including last night, although coach Sam Mitchell said that he wanted to bring Williams in the game in the first half but the forward was in the locker room because of health reasons. Williams had a tooth replaced and did return later and wasn't impressed with the coach's explanation.
"If I ain't playing here ... then I'm wasting my time," Williams said. "I'm just trying to come to work and be mentally prepared. Right now, I'm not mentally prepared. I don't know what's going on. Nobody talked to me. No one said anything."
Add that to the earlier Vince situation, as well as constant trade rumors swirling around players like Jalen Rose... and it's a hell of a situation up there, especially since it's overshadowing the great season that Chris Bosh is having.
No It's NOT a part of sports. It's a part of the NBA. Only in the NBA do they favor the more popular teams, veterans, superstars, and the home teams. In baseball Greg Maddux doesn't get different calls than a rookie pitcher.
