Kim brought back a copy of Spain's Spanish V magazine from New York (which El Fano had given to HER after he'd bought it on his flight back from .... I dunno, somewhere in Europe. El Fano gets around!) which devoted a page to WWE's ...well, not TOP Mexican superestrella, but definitely in their top 5. Unfortunately, this article is not reproduced at their website (vmagazinespain.com), so it falls upon me to reproduce it here.

Here's the text (all typos are mine):

ADR

ADR
Bueno, también... [Risas]

With the help of Google Translate, here's my rough and tumble translation:

Slamming for life

MEXICAN WRESTLER ALBERTO DEL RIO IS EQUAL PARTS CARAS (FACES) AND CORAZONES (HEARTS). WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON?

Alberto del Rio breaks the ice with the same fluidity that, in the ring, he uses in knocking out his opponents. He squeezes my hand knowing he's stronger. The smile. He stands almost two meters and has 120kg of muscle on his side. A third geneartion luchador, his grandfather paved the way. His father and uncle - Dos Caras and Mil Máscaras, respectively - extended the path, and now Alberto has achieved global recognition. "I became a fighter out of my admiration for them. I prepared for a lifetime to be a superstar," says del Rio. Winner of the WWE Championship - the most coveted title of the world's largest wrestling company - del Rio will participate in four shows from 6 to 9 June in Spain. Thrillseekers: it's time to forget the bleached blond Hulk Hogan.

by Goyo Ramos

SPANISH V At the beginning of your career, you performed under the name Dos Caras Jr., yet decided to change it to Alberto del Rio. Why?

ALBERTO DEL RIO
Dos Caras was the name my dad used for many years and as a tribute, while fighting in Mexico or Japan, I used the same name. When I reached the WWE, they had the idea of a character: Alberto del Rio. The name Dos Caras Jr. did not fit that personality and they decided to change it.

SV Do you find many differences between Mexican wrestling and American?

ADR
Very much. The main one is that in Mexico, it's a much more aerial fight with a larger number of big moves, so the public can enjoy a spectacular battle. In the U.S., there are stories in the ring. It's like a soap opera with action. All our actions have a reason and logic.

SV So what is it like belong to a WWE wrestler?

ADR
The WWE rewards talent. They are the premiere league of wrestling. I arrived after fighting in various companies for 10 years. Thanks to WWE, I went from being a national star to a global legend, with obviously a much higher salary.

SV The film The Wrestler shows the dark side of the business ...

ADR
It's a look at the world that fighters roamed the 80's and early 90's. It is a very crude film. That situation today would be impossible. At present, WWE cares deeply for their wrestlers - the time of substances is over. They watch our weight and test us for PEDs. All of these measures have had good results.

SV I heard you say during a fight: "gringo asqueroso" ("gringo nasty") or "soy tu padre, puto." ("I'm your daddy, bitch.") You are a provocateur ...

ADR
[Laughs] Some of these sentences were problematic ... What we do is a show, but with the heat of the moment emotions emerge.

SV Is it necessary to be arrogant to intimidate the opponent?

ADR
Not always, but in the case of Alberto del Rio, it's part of the character. He is a boor and a pedant. That's been the secret of his success, so it was consolidated quickly.

SV You studied architecture courses. Do you think about the laws of physics to overthrow the opponent on the canvas?

ADR
No, I did it because my dad made me. When I was young and stupid, I did not understand why I was forced to be in school. I wanted to be a wrestler. Now, I appreciate it - I can stop wrestling because I have another profession.

SV Would you proud if your son continued the family tradition?

ADR
Not really. I'd rather he be a footballer, but I can not decide on his future. My father did not want me to be a fighter, but here I am.

SV On a physical level, is it hard being a WWE Superstar?

ADR
I train every day. Yesterday I arrived in Milan after a flight of 12 hours. Made the promotion, then straight to the fitness area. I have to maintain good physical condition. My fans deserve the utmost respect. I always watch what I eat - at my age, engorda hasta el aire. ("even air makes me fat")

SV Confession time: any superstitions before jumping into the ring?

ADR
No, but I am a very religious person. I put myself in God's hands before you go. Despite being a show, the risk is always there.

SV Any crazy stories extravagant purchases?

ADR
One is not many, my friend. I bought a Harley Davidson Classic while living in Mexico. Within two weeks I was robbed.

SV You now have your own action figure. Was that a dream come true?

ADR
Of course. When I was little, I collected all the wrestlers. To get it just right, they scanned my body and my facial expressions. It is identical to me. They even captured the tattoos on my back.

SV Is this your first time in Spain?

ADR
No, I have family here and all the kids come once a year. I've been in over 40 countries and Madrid is my favorite city in the world.

SV If your career was ranching, what would you sing?

ADR
I would never be a rancher, but I will choose my favorite song: "My Way," by Frank Sinatra.

SV I thought you were going to say "Sigo siendo el rey." ("I'm still the king")

ADR
Well, well ... [Laughter]

Do not miss WrestleMania XXVIII live.

The tour begins in Miami on April 1.

Don't hesitate to ask me to translate anything CRZ!

That being said, you did a good job... even with the Google assist.

Interesting interview too. My uncle met Del Rio in Catholic church at my lil cousin's first communion a few weeks ago. It was here in Miami. Apparently he's a nice guy and he took the time to get his pic taken with my cousins.

If NWA-TNA were to fold next week, and Jim Ross were to leave his position as WWF/E VP of Talent, then Jeff Jarrett could be back in the WWF/E.
