| #1 Posted on 30.11.02 2300.51 | Art Bell announced that he is going to retire at the end of the year. Any thoughts. Are you a fan of his?
First off I think it was very impressive that he took a show that was not to conventional radio talk topics (ie politics, sports etc) and was able to syndicated it all over North America.
I listened to him more pre Y2K then after. I think his show has kinda gone downhill after the Y2K scare/flop and the events with his son and his bad back.
My favourite guest was the reverse speech Aussie guy (David Oates) he had on years ago. He'd take peoples quotes, reverse them and it reveals what they are actually saying (very cool). But Art and reverse speech guy had a falling out because Oates did a reverse speech on one of Bell's regular guests on another radio show which pissed Bell off and had him banned from the show in 99. That was the beginning of the end for Art Bell IMO.
Now the remote viewer guys is still a fun guest (which I think is the guest the reverse speech guy 'outed'..lol) and once in a while a good show hits. But I find it he is repeating the guest and the subject matter too often.
He's still a very good host and all even thought it seemed his show "jumped the shark" 2 years ago. But saying that it will be strange not having him on the radio in the middle of the night.

| #2 Posted on 1.12.02 0027.14 | Was his son kidnapped or was he sick? I knew that his first "retirement" stemmed from some bizarre occourance with his son, but I never really heard what precipitated it.
