Every year I get fooled into buying Madden because I think there are enough new things to warrant spending $50 to $60. Then, when I get it home, I feel like John Madden is laughing at me for being a sucker and paying that much for a roster update.

Well, I'm not going to do it next year. Seriously. That's what I said last year, but I'm totally not buying it again next year. I'm going to trade in my copy of '08, buy a used copy of '07 for $10, and use the rest of my trade-in credit for Bioshock, a truly innovative and different game.

Is anyone else with me? Is anyone else tired of the meager updates they provide us? Is anyone else tired of the same old crap?

Yeah, it's ridiculous. I hope that All-Pro Football continues to improve. Here's a review of the 2K-8 version. It sounds like they've made certain parts of the game much more realistic than Madden. You can't just sprint back 10 yards, and make a perfect throw off your back foot, for example. The lack of franchise mode is something they'll have to add for next year. But no matter how good it is, it's not going to matter to to most people, because Madden is the only one with current NFL players in it.

You should try skipping a year. I skipped buying 07, and am really enjoying the 08 version. The added mini-drills are quite helpful in improving running skills.

You could also try NCAA Football 08, which has a ridiculously deep off-season in Dynasty mode, with about double the drills and a spring game included. THAT is the game I have to buy EVERY year. (No passing cone, though. Again.)

Just seconding JayJay...I tend to buy Madden every three years or so and the NCAA game every other year. Even though the changes from year to year are pretty minor, they definitely add up over a few years and I always feel I get my money's worth.

I played the 08 version at a buddies place and we both hate it. In 5 min quarters, we threw a combined 12 INTs. I don't think we've thrown 12 INTs in all the play time in the last 3 versions combined.

The DBs are supermen that can get an INT no matter how far you move that slider.

I'm sticking with my 07 games.

Oh, NCAA 07 for the 360 has the passing cone. You get to it with the right stick.

I bought last year's game and maybe played it less than 20 times. We were supposed to have a Madden league but it never happened.

If I want to play it this year, I know that my friend that manages Gamestop will have a copy to play/borrow.

I actually like that part of it. I was a little bit annoyed when Tom Brady tossed three picks (en route to seven as a team) in my first preseason game, but you really just pay a steep price for making an impossible throw that has previously paid off. I dump the ball off to the backs more than I have since maybe Madden '98.

Until they make a truly user friendly game of Madden, I'll skip the entire series.

I tried out the new edition on the PS3, and even on the easiest level, and had my ass handed to me in a matter of minutes. If the games had an intuitive teaching system, or an incredibly easy game that would see even first timers kick major tail even after not playing a single game...then I'll consider it.

I've seen 14 movies so far this year: Because I Said So - (2*); Borat - (5*); Children Of Men - (4*); Die Hard 4 - (5*); Evan Almighty - (3.5*); Fantastic Four 2 - (4.5*); Hairspray - (5*); Harry Potter 5 - (4*); Knocked Up - (4*); The Last Mimsy - (4*); Mr. Brooks - (4*); Shrek The Third - (3*); Spiderman 3 - (3.5*); Transformers - (2*)

I believe this is in the Wii as the Family mode or Party mode? It's so that girlfriends, wives, and kids can play and have a chance.

Oh, and me too maybe. I suck at Madden.

It is in my game queue on Gamefly and I'll report back once I've played it.

I bailed after Madden '94 for Sega Genesis. It was unreal with a ton of classic teams ('68 Jets with Namath to Don Maynard was unstoppable). Then Madden '95 came out and EA had some beef with the nfl players union which ruined the game. They couldn't use the players names and killed off the classic teams as the retired players were no longer represented by the union so no payoffs for them. Sega Genesis was great.

I haven't bought Madden since '05 on PS2. That was a good one and the difficulty was most realistic for me. I don't bother no more with Madden. Just NCAA for me thanks!
