This would be a decent chance to make it to the final four this time around, if everyone would just pull together. And that would help the league, because not enough people accept the MSL as high quaility soccer, but a good WC run would change thaat mindset.

Guys like Beasley going to PSV and Donovan going to Leverkusen (heck, even something like 35-year old kind of has-been goalie Kasey Keller getting dumped by Tottenham and transfering to M'gladbach instead of coming home to the US) pretty much cement MLS as a "mid-major" league, and I actually think they're pretty fine with that.
Plus, the only have to finish in the top three of their group to advance to the World Cup, which hardly seems an impossible feat with ten games to play. They can stand to burn a couple of away games dealing with this silliness.

England, Spain, and Italy are considered the "Big Three," but the Champions League final was between a team from the Portuguese League and the French League. The German League also is probably on par with the big three. The Argentinian and Brazilian Leagues can hold their own with the big boys also.
There was a time when the Italian League was considered the top league. It dropped off not really because of talent, but because they started playing a boring defensive style and lost a lot of popularity because of it.
On those notes, MLS won't ever be a "major" league because the European Establishment and world fans will never allow it.

At least PSG is losing, losing, sweet losing. Idiot Parisians. Lose, and lose some more.
Oh, and you'd think the MLS would take advantage of the Hockey strike to try to take some popularity back in America, and not strike.
I'd love being able to catch more football on TV.

IF~USA can get to the final four in the world cup IF~ MLS could then bring all those stars from that hypothetical team home
THEN~ Soccer could replace hockey as the 4th place sport behind football, basketball, and baseball, and with baseball there would be always hope for a strike, and so it would be possible to see soccer as the #3 USA pro sport and the number 1 summer sport

But really, Guru. This is a 'sport' that's so hard to play that quite often after they finish the first game, they have enough energy to go back out there and do it again!

Never. Not even if the USA wins the World Cup and Americans are banned from playing in Europe. The thing about USA soccer is that with the advent of Fox Sports World, it's never even going to be the #1 soccer league among USA sports fans. At the most it'll end up a kind of WNBA - something you'll tolerate watching when the real league is on hiatus.
