| #1 Posted on 18.10.07 1651.42 | Instant Rating: 8.81 | I have two laundry baskets 3/4 of the way full of apples. They range from ready to eat to a little green. I have not been able to identify what kind of apple they are.
I'm open to your suggestions!
There was a wind-storm here today which knocked them all down and I had to get them out of the yard before the elk/deer came through and ate them.
Pictures later...

I'm pretty sure you can freeze applesauce too, but I'm not sure since I've never had multiple baskets full of apples myself.
You could also try a variety of weird apple recipes. My favorite is carrot apple ginger soup. Google a recipe, they're all good and easy.

Well, what if the apples are more suited to strudel?
I say fritters, but I could just be under the influence of the Starbucks ones. (drool)

| #8 Posted on 19.10.07 1217.48 | Instant Rating: 8.81 | Update:
The herd of elk came through this morning and ate between 50-100 apples that we didn't get picked up. Not a single trace of them on the ground... eerie, really.
Applesauce is on the list. These are a little bruised, unfortunately, so I think juice and sauce might be all I can do with them.

Elk are really big. It was very disturbing to look over with my tiny puppy (well he's getting not so tiny) and see these animals stepping over fences like nothing. I'm getting used to the deer walking past me like I'm not there, but the elk... yikes. | Guru Zim

I was sleeping They (the apples and the elk) were gone when I woke up.
If I see them in my yard, I'll snap a picture for you. So far we only have elk footprint pictures that came out OK.
