It's allegedly for swatting his kid with a switch.

On one hand, my mom took a switch to me a few times in my youth, and I didn't end up a psycho or anything. But, in 2014, you just don't do that. Photos of the injuries in the link.

I've seen people come out and say this, while a lot more people than I expected are.actually defending it. It used to also be okay to smoke while pregnant and ride in a car wherever you fit. I don't see how hitting little people with sticks is good for anything. They are sponges and will listen to you without a stick.

Peterson says the kid got five more than usual? This coming from a guy who lost a kid last year when somebody else used their own version of corporal punishment. This guy should stop having kids.

I had my ass beaten with a wooden board that had holes in it. Kids today are spoiled rotton. Little shits will call the police on their parents if the so much as raise a hand to them.

It's kinda sickening to me really. Look at how our society allows all these entitled little punks to get away with everything. When I was a kid, you rarely saw shit in the news about children making asses out of themselves like this group of them rioting in a parking lot and attacking innocent people (nydailynews.com) or some other such nonsense.

Likewise, there also wasn't this bullshit about ADD, but that's another whole rambling old man post all by itself. What I'm saying is, if your little shit deserves it, beat their ass like your supposed to.

Every generation thinks that the generations that follow are filled with mindless, self-entitled prats. The notion that our generation is somehow better because it was legal for our parents to smack us around with sticks is nonsense.

What I find interesting is that Rice hit his wife, he has to be out of the league(But Greg Hardy and Ray McDonald are playing this week).

AP beats his child with a stick, the NFL players come to his defense saying that "I got a ass whippn at 5 with a switch that's lasted about 40mins and couldn't sit for 2days. It's was all love though. Times have changed!"" (DARNELL DOCKETT).

It used to be socially acceptable for husbands to beat (I mean, discipline) their wives. Times have indeed changed.

I think there is a giant difference between getting hit with a switch by a woman than monster of a man in AP. He should get the boot too. Cerebus is just stupid in this matter. I rarely give my kid a swat on the butt, but when I have to bring weapons into the matter that is when I need to have the cops at my door.

I guess the Pro Players want to keep their macho street creed by defending him. This sport breeds a certain type of Alpha Male with no self awareness. It also seems to extend into the boardrooms as well.

You'd think that grown men getting paid millions of dollars to work for three months out of the year playing a game would stop acting like spoiled children.

Actually, that's an insult to children because even they're more well behaved and mature than sports athletes.

http://www.vikings.com/news/article-1/Statement-From-The-Vikings-Regarding-Adrian-Peterson/ffba4f28-6620-44b5-b707-241c1ea783b2

Eden Prairie, MN (September 15, 2014) – Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will fully participate in this week’s practices and meetings and is expected to play this Sunday in New Orleans.

The following statement is from Vikings Owners Zygi Wilf and Mark Wilf:

Today’s decision was made after significant thought, discussion and consideration. As evidenced by our decision to deactivate Adrian from yesterday’s game, this is clearly a very important issue. On Friday, we felt it was in the best interests of the organization to step back, evaluate the situation, and not rush to judgment given the seriousness of this matter. At that time, we made the decision that we felt was best for the Vikings and all parties involved.

To be clear, we take very seriously any matter that involves the welfare of a child. At this time, however, we believe this is a matter of due process and we should allow the legal system to proceed so we can come to the most effective conclusions and then determine the appropriate course of action. This is a difficult path to navigate, and our focus is on doing the right thing. Currently we believe we are at a juncture where the most appropriate next step is to allow the judicial process to move forward.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and support Adrian’s fulfillment of his legal responsibilities throughout this process.

This is complete and utter horseshit. Simply horseshit, and colossally ignorant. Hopefully if you have children some day, you'll have a change of heart. Especially if they have a mental illness.

You turned out great? Sure thing boss. Meanwhile, some of us are child abuse survivors, and when you brush if off like "oh, it's just discipline and they way things SHOULD be" demeans the amount of effort I have had to make to try to form myself into a force of good in the world, to pick up the pieces of my shattered childhood.

The kid was FOUR YEARS OLD, not some 17 year old caught busted shoplifting. FOUR. YEARS. OLD. And getting beat with a fucking stick. You condone that? You condone a guy with near supernatural physical abilities (how long was he out for with a SHREDDED KNEE) striking ANYONE, let alone a FOUR YEAR OLD CHILD?

It's fucking sad that you think that's okay, that some kid who isn't even old enough for Grade 1 can be smacked around with a cane or a stick or a rod just because he's acting like a four year old.

When you say "there also wasn't this bullshit about ADD", you demean that I've suffered for 32 years with ADHD, and that I continually have to deal with this mental disorder. A disorder recognized, tested, and received therapy for.

This is also ignoring when you were a kid, we didn't have social media and news distribution like we have now.

Go ahead though man, you go ahead. You keep on being that guy who thinks child abuse is okay and think mental illnesses don't exist.

Damn right, Cris Carter. Damn right.

By doing the bare minimum. I am not going to pat them on the back. Besides this probably has more to do with them getting clowned by the Patriots than their stance on defending players. The kid had marks all over him including his penis. Think about that. There is a plan boycott of the NFL. I doubt it will lead anywhere, but I am kinda for it. The NFL only cares about their wallet since they don't seem to care too much about their public image.

As usual, there will be some fans who defend a player, because they wear the colors. Ask a Ravens fan about Ben and you will get a different action when asking them about Ray Rice. The 49ers continue to defend their abuser saying the court system needs to have its day. Which is sort of bullshit. You would think there is a morals clause for these guys. It would also nice if the court system went a bit faster and wasn't intimidated by star power.

well, I am nearly 57 years old and yes, my Daddy disciplined me with a belt (most of the time) and a switch ( a couple times. And Yes, I turned out all right.

My Dad also drove drunk more times than I can count and sometimes treated my Mom so badly she would cry in front of me. But she stayed with him because, well, it was then.

So, I have a couple of adult children. Did I ever discipline them? Yes indeed. I spanked them with my hand a few times. But one thing I learned is that consistency and modeling has more to do with discipline than anything else. My voice was usually enough. And when it wasn't, taking things away usually worked. A couple times with the kids, I had to get their attention - but it wasn't much.

Leaving a mark? No. Even a psychological one - no.

and I don't punch the wife either.
